It Gets Better Project - This Year's Beneficiary of the Torquere Charity Blitz

Sam's New Family by Serena Yates

Sam's New Family

Today, on September 17, I am proud to announce the release of Sam's New Family, a short story I wrote for the annual Torquere Charity Sip Blitz. All the proceeds will be donated to the It Gets Better Project, matched by Torquere Press. Rainbow eBooks have agreed to sponsor the sale on their site, without taking profits.

I'm very excited to take part in this - what better reason for writing a book for charity can there be than knowing its sale will help improve the lives of GLBT youths, who so often have to suffer injustice and even physical deprivation and pain - just because they are deeemed 'different'? Although, what is that different about wanting to love and share your life with another human being, just becaue they happen to be the same sex, still escapes me.

Please check out the entire series on your preferred site - and remember, every book from the collection you buy will help make someone's life a little better.

The 2013 Torquere Press Charity Sips are out!

Our Bloghop Starts Here: Torquere Press

This is the third year I have participated in this great event, where all royalties are donated to a selected GLBTQ charity and Torquere Press matches the donation amount for double the impact. The topic this year is "Men in Uniform", a good match with the charity OutServe.

Outserve is an organization devoted to assisting those affected by "don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue." And, even though the infamous DADT has now finally been repealed, those who serve are still affected by it, still fighting for their rights, and still deserving of our support.

Please help, if you can. There are 25 short stories by some great authors and you can by them individually or as a complete package for $49.99 (a 15% discount). You can find them at http://torquerebooks.com/.

My own story is called Ranger's Luck:
Ethan Turner never liked living in a city, and his job as park ranger at Glacier National Park is just what he dreamed of. He loves protecting the animals and land under his care, and dealing with the occasional tourist -- well, all jobs have their drawbacks.

Caleb Sagan, a recent journalism graduate, works at the Billings Tribune. He got stuck with a two-month assignment at Glacier National Park to write a series of articles extolling outdoor life meant to draw more tourists to Montana.

Can these two men overlook their differences long enough to make it to their first date?
