I finally remembered I had one of these
The party in my latest short story, 'What Father Christmas Left' is part of the Advent 2014 collection at Dreamspinner Press collection
The link is here for the story:
http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=5864&cPath=55_109
And here is the link for the whole collection:

The party I have in it is based on the Christmas Eve party my in-laws always have. The food and drink are to die for.
And for dealing with my shameless "buy books" self promotion, here is a recipe for brownies.
I've made them several times and the recipe is never the same way twice.
I've had okay batches as opposed to stunningly yummy batches, but I work with starving college students, they'll devour sweets by the truckfull.

everything is weighed to make the switches between different flours and fats easier.
You can get a cheapish scale at many low end stores.
I have one mainly for brewing.
These brownies should be fudgy.
Original recipe was in Chocolate! Chocolate!Chocolate! p242
Favorite Fudge Brownies
2 eggs room temperature (Or sub Flax Seed)
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped
156 gram of fat (Butter, Margarine or Coconut oil)
165 gram of sugar (Granulated, Brown, or Palm Sugar)
42 grams CocoaPower (Dutch or Dark)
104 grams flour (Cut back on the fat, if using Almond or Hazelnut flour)
1) Preheat oven 325. Grease an 8x8 pan.
2) Beat eggs slightly if you are using them, blend in the sugar. Or prepare your flax seed binder and ignore the sugar for now.
3) Melt the fat in a small pan on stove or bowl in the microwave. Add the Vanilla and blend.
4) whisk together all the dry ingredients, including sugar if you are using flax seed as a binder instead of eggs. Make a hollow in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour the butter(fat)/Vanilla mixture. Stir until well blended and don't over beat.
5) Turn the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Bake from 20- 35 minutes. Shorter cooking time for the heavier flours, like almond or hazelnut. a toothpick inserted in the middle should come out clean, but not dry. Do not over bake. The brownies should be moist.
6) Cool the pan on a wire rack or other raised area. Cut the brownies into squares or narrow rectangles. Can be dusted with confectionary sugar.

Dreamlands is out
The book came out last Monday. I haven't posted it before this because the week's been weird.
I haven't really slept all week, I didn't sleep Sunday night at all, after I saw the link go live at Dreamspinner.
http://dreamspinnerpress.com/newreleases.htm
And it finally showed up at Amazon, sort of.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ivey%2C+felicitas&x=0&y=0
And I'm waiting for my copies to show up, so that I might actually sit down and read it as a book.

Well that went well...
I heard back from Samhain Publishing, another email, thank you but no thank you. That's two in a row from them, both for Anthologies. Good thing was that it was fast, I had shipped it off to them on the Monday and it's just Friday. Bad thing, is the no and don't bother us again with this manuscript rule that they have.
Sad thing is that I'm not too upset. I think I'm supposed to crushed by this. I'm not, curious to see why it didn't click with them, but not too upset. I was more upset when I didn't get into the last Y-Con anthology. I'm just annoyed and wondering if I should bother with them again, because this is the second rejection from them.
Gods I'm now beginning to think that my Dreamlands submission is a fluke, like I caught them on a bad day or that they pity published me. Kind of like a pity fuck, but different.
Now I get to debate on who else I'm throwing this puppy at, cause it's not a bad story, just didn't go the way that I planned for the entire thing.

wish me luck
I just submitted a novella to Samhain's Space Opera anthology.
See http://www.samhainpublishing.com/submissions#opera for details.
I hope that it gets into the collection. I spent most of my summer vacations writing this, because Most of June and July weren't productive at all for me.
I don't know if I'll submit a lot of things to these people, mainly because I'm a book rather than an ebook type of gal. I know that it the world of small press, that's really limiting, but I like the smell and feel of a book in my hands.

Dreamlands Edits
I got the edited manuscript back from Dreamspinner. I've done most of the changes, have a couple of more tweaks to do and then will send it back to them.
I'm started to get excited about it now.

Dreamlands Cover Sketch
I know that I've been behind in doing this :-(
Here's the pencil sketch of the cover for the new book, Dreamlands.
I love it !!!!
http://pics.livejournal.com/iveys_tales/pic/00001h7q
I haven't been excited about this for a number of personal reasons, but my family's been making up for it. Seriously, it's kind of scary.
Will post the finished cover and a publication date when I have one.
