Who is the best non dead Christian writer?

I'm curious, who would you say is the best, currently alive Christian writer? Best is a broad term and you can define it any way you like. "Living," less so. And I assure you this is not like that time I wrote, "Who is the next Donald Miller?" As a prone to kick me in the butt friend pointed out, that was an ego move I did so that people would say "you are Jon." Ridiculous. This isn't that.

Who do you think is the best currently not dead Christian writer?

(A guy named Ben made a good point. We ...

Resisting Rest.

I once had a job where a manager fell asleep during a training course. We paid tens of thousands of dollars to bring in some experts to train us and in the back row of the conference room he was sprawled out in his chair sleeping.

Years ago, that wouldn't have been a big deal. I'm not saying I would have covered him up in a blanket and nestled a Webkinz stuffed animal into the crook of his arm, but the story of his sleeping would have faded fairly quickly. Unfortunately for him, people now...

The guy who takes credit for an answered prayer request.

I'm not sure if the phrase, "you're welcome," is officially in the Bible, but it should be because,

You're welcome.

For what? Are you serious? You really have to ask that? For shame my friend, for shame. I'm talking about a little thing we call "Brian got a new job." Or as I might like to say, "an answered prayer request," that was tied up with a bow by yours truly.

At the end of the day, it's not about me. It's about Brian. I saw a brother in need and did what any prayer warrior, no prayer...

Having a big fight right before church.

I don't have proof of this, I mean there is no scientific evidence about what I am about to say, but I think it's true:

The hour before you attend church is like the devil's Super Bowl.

Seriously, that is a golden hour for him, 60 minutes where he rolls up the sleeves of his Armani suit (Admit it, you thought the devil wore Prada) and he gets the job done like Big Daddy Kane. (80s rap reference and Meryl Streep movie nod in the same sentence? What!)

I am assuming his goal is to get you...

7 reasons to give Stuff Christians Like as a gift.

Last week someone told me they bought the Stuff Christians Like book as a gift for mother's day. Let me just say, that is awesome. But maybe you're not so sure. Here, in addition to it only costing $9, are 7 reasons the book makes a fantastical gift for graduates or moms.

1. Your mom needs to laugh. You did some horrific things as a kid. Diapers, missed curfews, that nose ring you gave yourself, you owe your mom.

2. Flowers die. It's true. They are disposable. Mirth? Mirth last forever. Give...

What if Seinfeld was a heartfelt drama?

This video is all over the place so you might have already seen it. I laughed. A lot. It tells the touching story of how George found new life in the midst of a season of hurt.

Wishing someone would do a Dos Equis beer style commercial about Jesus.

This is exactly the post you expected to find today on Stuff Christians Like.

I bet you thought, "You know what? I imagine Jon is going to compare a Latin beer commercial to Jesus one of these days." And today my friend, is indeed that day.

Because Dos Equis currently has a campaign called "The most interesting man in the world." In the commercial, they tell us about a wildly interesting gentlemen. They make statements like, "His blood smells like cologne. He speaks Russian in French. People...

Win 5 autographed Craig Groeschel books.

I met pastor Craig Groeschel a few years ago. It was a nerve wracking event that was chronicled here. But today is about something different. Today is about 5 autographed books Craig is giving away to the readers of Stuff Christians Like.

That's right, we've got 5 autographed copies of his new book "The Christian Atheist" to give away today. It's a really convicting read that in some ways challenges what we believe similar to Francis Chan's "Crazy Love." I liked this book enough to give it to ...

4 Blog Tips from Stuff Christians Like.

Michael Hyatt is a blog expert. Seth Godin is a blog expert. I think of myself as a blog experimenter. I don't always know what to do, but I have the patience to try it again and again in this lab of a blog until I get it right.

And lots of ya'll are the same way. You've got a blog and have ideas and have had failures and successes just like me. I'd love to hear what they are today. I'd love to hear what you've learned about the blogging world. I'll go first with 4 things I've learned.

4 Blog...
