Tales of the Titmouse
I'm listing another signed copy of my memoir, Tales of the Titmouse, for the goodreads giveaway contest. The listing starts January 1st, 2010 and runs through January 31st.
This book is excellent if you want to understand the drug world and addiction, but don't want to be overwhelmed by obscene language and graphic sexual situations. I wrote it with a PG-13 sensitivity so that families could dialogue between generations. So far the oldest person who has read it is 84 and the youngest is 17.
"There is a story that my mother told about her father that set the tone for the way I thought about right and wrong. It influenced those judgments I made about good and bad, or breaking the law in general. Her father was a gambler and in the black market during the depression. With the money he made he bought the first school bus for the San Gabriel Mission, and then he purchased shoes for the underprivileged children. He died on a gambling trip to Las Vegas, when she was 17, so I never met him and was unable to verify this story, but it had a profound effect on me as a child and later on my outlook on drug smuggling. I lived under the spell of Robin Hood, looking for the higher good in what The Boys did, and it may have worked except people started dying."
