Hope on the Horizon

Facing the Dawn by Cynthia Ruchti An author's heart is always trained on the horizon. The next chapter in process, the next idea, the next book proposal, the next release, the first reviews, the first hints of the dawning of reader reactions.

We peer toward that light blush in the east that signals the night-long darkness is about to be overcome with light that will at first remain barely noticeable. Then as the sun slips over the horizon to make its presence known as a day-brightener, warmer, guide, growth-promoter, the dark completely and utterly disappears...until that coming night.

Hope is like that too. We're caught in the shadows of our circumstances. But then light days, slowly at first, then brighter until it wins the battle for dominance of the day.

If you're waiting in darkness, know that dawn is just slightly below the horizon now. Wait for it. Wait for it. There it is! A blush of promise!
