"I'm definitely in the minority on this one since it was a nominee for best horror last year.
I just don't understand how this is the case after reading White Horse and almost doing a DNF many times. I really struggled to finish this book and feel like" Read more of this review » |

"This book is a mess. There are so many side stories that have nothing to do with each other. There are random allusions to Geronimo and Stephen King that just seem so out of place. The scenes in the Stanley Hotel are absolutely out of the blue?? She "

"When this author refers to English or continental knitting as an “unfortunate style” , it really made me hate this book. Who is she to say what is the right way or wrong way to knit? Her air of superiority on this topic really made me mad. So what if"

“I know logically that I can live without him, but loving him has become such an integral, necessary part of my life; I am not sure I could stop, even if we parted.”

“Writing is like sex. First you do it for love, then you do it for your friends, and then you do it for money.”

“People who label erotica writers as sluts/men-whores remind me of the mob that once condemned smart women as witches. Mankind has not evolved much.”

“I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners. The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they're going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there's going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up. The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it. They kind of know what seed it is, they know if planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don't know how many branches it's going to have, they find out as it grows. And I'm much more a gardener than an architect.”

You too! (Somehow I missed this, sorry...)

You should definitely try to come back."
*drool* Yes.

You should definitely try to come back.

Summers here are too hot for me--Germany was great for me, except for the humidity.
I would love to go to Greece/Italy! (I've only ever been to Germany...we passed close to the French border and I tried to convince everyone that we should detour, but no one went for it).

I've never made it to Canada, the farthest I've made it was upstate NY and the Adirondacks. 3 feet of snow in mid March, brrrrr...

It really is! I love Canada and I'm pretty happy here, but I definitely miss Europe. It might be different now that I'm older or actually lived there. And I was only in Germany in the summer. Winters are cold here, but there really is a difference between wet and dry cold!
