"You really have that little confidence in me?"I could hear the hurt in her voice, and I felt a pang of sympathy. Truly I did, but I wasn't about to let it affect my judgment."I have plenty of confidence in you, NeeCee, but these are old spells. They are unpredictable. Extremelyunpredictable."Bernice lit the candle again and moved it behind her, her finger trailing the page. She turned, facing me."Quae mea tua sunt, tua mea sunt quid . . ." she proceeded stubbornly, her chin raised, her eyes large and confident behind her spectacles.The words were Latin. I recognized them instantly and cringed, jumping onto the display case, my blue dress riding all the way up to my hip. At this point, I didn't give a flip if a customer came in right now and got an eye full of my black low-rise panties. I just wanted the dead blasted grimoire."NeeCee, no!" I shouted, just as the black candle behind her exploded, ebony wax falling onto the wooden surface around it.I covered my face, but even though the blast sounded loud inside the store, there was no collateral damage. The only outwardly disturbing sign was a small, perfect wax circle made of six black spots on the worn wood around the scarlet glass candleholder. I winced. Bernice froze."NeeCee," I whispered."Yeah?" she muttered.I stared at the ruined workstation as the grimoire fell to the floor at Bernice's feet. "That wasn't a reversal spell."

Her debut novel, Saving Rain: The First Novel in The Rain Trilogy, was published in January, 2013. Healing Rain: The Second Novel in The Rain Trilogy was published in July, 2013. When Karen-Anne is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her first love, her family. She shares a home with her husband and daughter, their two dogs and their cat. Help Me Share the Love
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as many people know, this cause is near and dear to my heart. So, it's time for the second annual SHARE THE campaign. Running Oct. 21-31, the campaign will benefit the National Domestic Violence Hotline (http://www.thehotline.org/). We'll be raising awareness about DV, as well as The Hotline, and also raising money. Oh, and there's a giveaway!
But... I NEED YOUR HELP! I need book bloggers, author bloggers, and book or author Facebook page owners to help spread the word. There will be a promo blitz to post on Oct. 21. You can also choose to do an extra post sometime between 10/26-10/31 that includes a relevant tip, fact or story that we'll provide (unless you have your own that you'd like to share). As part of the giveaway, you can choose to have people like your page or follow your blog to gain an extra entry.

New Adult Authors You Should Know: Lila Atkinson
Every Tuesday throughout the Fall, I'll be joining an amazing group of New Adult Authors as we spread the news about each other's books. There is a giveaway every week and at the end, the grand prize is an ereader! This week, we introduce to you: Lila Atkinson.
Zadie Parker is all about reinventing herself. Switching colleges after a humiliating freshman year is her latest upgrade. She’s excited to be living with her two best friends and looking forward to her new summer lifeguarding job. Life seems headed toward more stable waters, or so shethinks. On her first day of work Zadie comes head to head with her biggest regret, Henry Fletcher.
Henry’s the stupidly adorable boy Zadie crushed hard on in high school. The one too chicken to make his move three years before. He’s the reason
Zadie found the courage to move from the sidelines to being a risk-taker. But calling attention to yourself isn’t without consequences, especially when every co-ed has a camera phone.
Hot summer days and warm, tension-fueled nights set the backdrop for Zadie and Henry to figure out if there is any chance they can heal while navigating the landmines of Zadie's life.
Lila Atkinson worked at an ice cream shop for 6 months during college. It sucked. To this day she can't look at mint chocolate chip ice cream without having a panic attack.
To ward off the hot, southern, summer days, Lila spends time at her pool daydreaming about lifeguards and summer romances. She has a husband, two girls and some pets.
