Can My Spirit Animal Be a Dragon?
Hello everyone!
Oh dear, I know, two months away from the blog! Terrible! Anyone would think I'd been eaten by the holidays and deadlines and nonstop winter illnesses and snow days and birthday party planning and all these books that are due RIGHT NOW ACK! :-)
What books? you might ask. Aren't I all done with writing Wings of Fire book 5? (which is coming out NEXT MONTH, holy dragons!) Yes, I am, of course, but there are Exciting New Things on the horizon!

Favorite Books of 2013!
Hello all you wonderful readers!
I figure I'd better get cracking on this blog post, as it is nominally intended to help you with your holiday shopping, and once again I've already missed Hanukkah. (I mean, we certainly had Hanukkah here -- holy bananas, the toddler LOVED the menorah! "More candles! More Hanukkah! More songs!" Really, I think he would have been just as happy to keep lighting candles in lieu of presents . . . whereas the almost-4-year-old was QUITE CLEAR on the importance Read More [...]

Hi everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving!! And happy Hanukkah!! Hooray! Say, you know what makes a wonderful holiday present, no matter what holiday you're celebrating? BOOKS!
And hypothetically, if you happened to be out holiday shopping this coming Saturday in Cambridge, MA, and HAPPENED to come by the Harvard Book Store . . . guess who would be there? ME! It's part of an event called Indies First, where I try to sell you all my favorite books! (Plus you can also buy my own books, too, Read More [...]

Amazing News!
Hello all!
I know I should have posted this sooner (like, the minute I found out), but I've been either (a) leaping around my house shrieking with excitement or (b) totally in shock or (c) too mindboggled to even know what to say about something so wonderful:
Wings of Fire made the New York Times Bestseller List! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!
AND the USA Today Bestseller List! Aaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!
Holy snorks, you guys, THANK YOU! I feel so so grateful -- to my agent and editor Read More [...]

Where to Find Me (and Get Signed Books!) All November Long
Hello all!
As I mentioned, I'll be out and about doing actual Book Events more than usual this November, so I thought I'd list them all here, and hopefully you'll be able to join me for some of them! Hooray!
Friday, Nov. 1, 7pm: I'll be at the Barnes and Noble in Burlington, MA. Talking! Signing books! Wearing suspiciously nice shoes! :) Hopefully not all by myself! :)
Saturday, Nov. 9: I'll be at the Connecticut Children's Book Fair at the University of Connecticut in Read More [...]

Questions By You! Answers By Me! :)
Hello all!
I figured in honor of book 4's birthday, I'd tackle a few questions from some of the wonderful readers who've emailed me. Because YOU ARE AWESOME, that's why. :-)
Who does the Wings of Fire art?
The cover artist (who also did the "NightWing Guide" illustrations) is Joy Ang, and I agree with all of you who wrote in to say that she is a GLORIOUS GENIUS. I couldn't possibly love these covers more! She's just amazing.
Some of you wanted to know if there was any way to Read More [...]

Reviewers Who Are Clearly Geniuses, and a Menagerie Cover!
Hello all!
I have some lovely happy reviews I've been meaning to share with you for ages, so I'm sneaking away from book five for a moment to do that. After all, a short blog post is better than no post at all, right? :-)
First off, I've mentioned the wonderful Annie and Aunt blog before; Annie is a friend of mine from college, and she and her bookseller aunt write back and forth about all kinds of books. I use their lists all the time when I'm looking for new picture books for Jonah Read More [...]

How Parenting Is Like Writing, Only Infinitely Crazier
Hello lovely readers!
Happy birthday to me and Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling! :) Hooray! I figured I'd come sneak in a blog post before the end of July, so at least it won't look like I neglected the blog for TWO whole months, even though that is actually the case. (La la la!)
But I'm writing Wings of Fire book five! I know you'd rather have book five RIGHT NOW than more ramblings about babies and sleeping (or not sleeping, which is more likely around here) -- right?
And you know Read More [...]
