For example, I often write on post-its and small pads while waiting in the car, in public spaces or during other "interstial" periods of downtime. In addition, developing character sketches and crafting mini-podcasts or recordings of dialogue can help get creative juices flowing. Reading previous work aloud is another strategy to facilitate diving back into revision or new writing(less)

I always wanted to play guitar as a teenager, but was discouraged due to there being no visible Black women role models who played, as well as the overwhelmingly white male-dominated rock music industry (despite rock's origins in Black musical artistry and dynamism). “For many enslaved Africans, the Bible only became an avenue of resistance because it was one of the few books available to Black folks in a white, Christian-dominated society that prohibited Black literacy. Reading the Bible and applying its lessons of redemptive suffering, salvation, and struggle aided African Americans in their revolutionary fight against the “contradictions” of chattel slavery in a so-called democratic nation.”
