Miles Away... Worlds Apart

What if you had direct knowledge of a massive Ponzi scheme and knew tens of millions of dollars a week were being invested in what you strongly believed where phony investments? What if the scammer was the CEO of a major law firm with strong political connections and ties to all branches of law enforcement? What would you do?

Well that was the situation I found myself in. In my mind, the master manipulator, Scott Rothstein, had to be stopped and it was a responsibility I would not shirk. At the same time, I needed to be sure my family and I were safe. After all, The CEO was well connected and someone was bound to tip him off once my reporting him led to an investigation.

The big question was where do you turn in a con man that is feeding all of the political leaders and law enforcement personnel and seems to have them all in his back pocket? It appeared to be a huge scheme, but at the time, I had know idea it would be South Florida’s largest fraud ever.

Now you understand how by chance I became an author, yet by profession I am the president of a real estate development company and an attorney. My goal in writing Miles Away… Worlds Apart was not to write a history book about Rothstein, the master fraudster, but instead to use that way of life to suggest a better, more meaningful way to live. One idea I wanted to show was that other people are important and that the choices we make influence others, especially our children.

I felt compelled to write since so many people closed their eyes because the benefits to them were too great to do otherwise. Because that was the case and since so many decent people became complicit, it seemed the facts needed to be presented in a simple way so they could be viewed without the trapping of unreasonable rewards. That way, each person can train himself in advance how he wants to respond before he reaches his next fork in the road. With that thought in mind it is hoped that the book’s message may reach people looking for direction and tools to help them make better choices!

Over the next few months, I will be making a number of special giveaways for to my dear reads. This will be the first one of them.
