Toady's Best Rypo
Heh, Today's Best Typo is a twofer. And I'm not drinking, I swear! "** lunched at Seregil, claying at his throat."
(And in the tags I just typed Nightrubber. Maybe I should call it a day?)

Today's word is "Drag'goros". Which I guess might be a cross dressing demon?

And Time Marches On
I just went back through the posts here, looking at the dogs' baby pictures. Emma is now 6, Jackson 4.5, and Zoe 2. Doesn't seem possible that much time has passed. The pack is doing well. Jack is alpha now and puts Zoe in her place now and then. Zoe and Em have the occassional scrap, too, but this seems to be because they are both female. Otherwise, they are good friends and play together nicely.
Jack has been interesting to watch develop. He no longer cowers and pees when approached by another male at the dog beach. Instead, he curls his lip and growls at male pups, especially those who haven't been neutered. Otherwise, he's friendly with the other beach dogs. He still is especially interested in small dogs, probably because he grew up with Em. He's better with guests, too. He barks at first, but warms up much more quickly. We had friends in last night and he was Mr. Social. Em and Zoe are very friendly and there is less guarding behavior when friends come in, although there is much barking.
We were lax about keeping them off the furniture and the leather livin groom set finally wore out. We have discovered that putting aluminum foil on the new set keeps dogs off nicely. Aluminum foil and squirt guns: don't have dogs without them.

New Japanese Cover Art!!! Shadows Return in Two Volumes
Nana Hamana did a lovely job! Very manga style, of course.
Love the way the two covers fit together in a single picture:

"I’m pretty sure it wasn’t, my lord," the lieutenant replied grimly. "Thongs have been seen— ghosts."

And this . . .
Human speech is like a cracked kettle on which we tap crude rhythms for bears to dance to, while we long to make music that would melt the stars. —Gustave Flaubert

A Beautiful Thought
Our shame is deep. For shame is the result of soul injury. Mirrors, however, are sacred, not only because they permit us to witness the body we are fortunate this time around to be in, but because they permit us to ascertain the condition of the eternal that rests behind the body, the soul. As an ancient Japanese proverb states: when the mirror is dim, the soul is not pure. Art is the mirror, perhaps the only one, in which we can see our true collective face. We must honor its sacred function. We must let art help us.

Creative Garage Cleaning
My son Tim was rummaging around in the garage, looking for some old action figures. He calls this "Make it so."
