A No-Nonsense Machiavelli
This is interesting. I think Machiavelli’s analysis of power, in The Prince and The Discourses, is the most brilliant. He’s also one of the most misunderstood philosophers, because so many people form a view of him based on (often misreading) The Prince alone.

The Iago Problem
I like the idea of Daniel Craig playing an Iago who’s not explained by psychological platitudes, so I liked this piece, though the author is a bit too forgiving of Othello for my taste. I think Iago is the greatest villain in all of literature. As I wrote in this essay:
