Photographs of Florida and what I've been up to
Sorry that I've been away from dreamwidth and live journal for so long but The Best Horror of the Year volume four just completely ate up my time. But I handed it in to Night Shade this past Sunday 5:30 a.m and a great weight has been lifted off my mind. Of course, I'll need to start reading for #5 shortly but I can relax a bit. I've got an original anthology that Terri and I are finishing over the next few weeks but I feel less pressure.
I'll be traveling to London end of the month for two weeks for my annual visit and will stay in Camden Town with the Clutes hang around with Pat Cadigan. I will also meet with various other friends and colleagues.
An e-book deal is brewing regarding an anthology long out of print that was never released in the USA. I'm excited and will give details as soon as I know when it will be out.
I'm hoping to sell more anthologies over the next few months (original and reprint) and keeping fingers crossed that this will indeed happen.
But in the meantime, here are the photos:
Miami Beach & with my family in Fort Lauderdale for lunch and Waxahachie wetlands

Call for Submissions for The Best horror of the Year volume 5 (2012)
Call for Submissions
I am editing the anthology series Best Horror of the Year (Night Shade Books) and am currently reading for the fifth volume, which will include all material published in 2012.
I am looking for stories from all branches of horror: from the traditional-supernatural to the borderline, including high-tech sf horror, supernatural stories, psychological horror, dark thrillers, or anything else that might qualify. If in doubt, send it. This is a reprint anthology so I am only reading material published in or about to be published in 2012. Submission deadline for stories is December 1st 2012. Anything sent after this deadline will reach me too late. If a magazine, anthology, or collection you're in or you publish is coming out in December, you can send me galleys or manuscripts so that I can judge the stories in time. No email submissions. I strongly suggest that authors check with their publishers that they are sending review copies to me as I don't have time or energy to nag publishers to get me material. I request it once (maybe twice) and that's it.
There will be a summation of "the year in horror" in the front of the volume. This will include novels, nonfiction, art books, and "odds and ends"-- material that doesn't fit elsewhere but that I feel might interest the horror reader. But I must be aware of this material in order to mention it. The deadline for receipt of material for this section is December 15th, 2012.

Best Horror of the Year Volume Five
PMB 391
511 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10011-8436
****I do not want to receive manuscripts from authors of stories from venues that it's likely I already receive (like Interzone, Black Static, Crimewave, Cemetery Dance, Postscripts, Weird Tales, F&SF and the other digests, etc) or from anthologies and collections, unless I don't have or can't get that anthology or collection. Please contact your publisher and ask him/her to send me the magazine or book.
For online publications, I prefer print submissions, so if your publisher doesn't send them out please do so yourself. I will also accept printouts of stories produced and first "published" in 2012 as podcasts.
Please do not send a SASE. If I choose a story you will be informed. If you want to confirm that I've received something, enclose a self-addressed-stamped postcard and I will let you know the date it arrived. For stories that appear on the web, please send me (or have the publisher send me) print-outs of your story.
thanks

My last book sale of the year--less than cover price
I've been waiting for the Magick4Terri auction to end to announce this as I didn't want to distract from that (and some of these titles were donated to the auction). But now it's over (and extremely successful) so .....
You deserve to give yourself a great gift to yourself for xmas! An anthology that I edited (or co-edited).
I recently moved nine cartons of other people's books into my storage lockers and returned with a bunch of my own anthologies to sell.
The books are all either out of print or hard to acquire. No sales outside of the US because it currently costs $20-25 dollars a book (eg one hc of YBFH) to ship & I feel that's an unreasonable amount for a buyer to pay.
All titles are offered signed and personalized if you wish; shipping in US is included in the listed price. I'm going to sell each book for less than cover price plus $4.00 shipping per mass market paperback/$6.00 per trade paperback and hardcover.
Again SHIPPING IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICES BELOW.
To purchase a book or books, please comment on this entry with your name and the books you would like to reserve, and the total you expect to pay. If you're not a member of LJ you can still post, making sure you provide your name and contact info if you're posting "anonymously" (ie without an account).
Because I have limited quantities of each title, this is strictly first come, first served. I may have other titles that I can't reach easily so if there's something you want but don't see listed, ask. I may have some (not YBFH #1).
I will comment to let you know your order has been received and that the book is available, and to tell you what you owe. The address for money is datlow at datlow dot com. Please wait for my comment before sending money.
When paying, please include your real name, your lj name, a list of what you have purchased, and your shipping address in the comments section of the paypal form. When you pay, please make the payment "personal" so that neither of us get charged. Also, let me know if you want me to personally inscribe or just sign your books.
Most if not all the books are out of print either completely or in the editions I'm offering. I am not intentionally selling any books/editions that are currently available in bookstores selling new books on or off-line.
