Nathan was a well-kept human that carried his father’s broken sword at his side not caring for what people had said of him. His armor was cheap and Nathan had to always repair it which gave him good training. Since they had left the city three years ago the both of them had become close. Some would say too close. Nathan trusted his companion with all his heart and she cared for him deeply but didn’t show it too often.
This trip had taken them far in the mountains that were attached to the ice barrier. These areas were a great place to find riches that the grey dwarves had left behind. But sometimes it would dangerous due to the goblins and orcs that roamed there in the tunnels. Nathan and Shimra had found their way into a large cavern through an old dwarven door that had been busted down. They had journeyed Five days walking through the tunnels not finding anything till they came to it.
There in front of them was a large building that had been carved into the stone. The stones cut from the cavern around the area to build it. A tower in the mountain it was referred to. Nathan looked at Shimra and smiled. His journey to find his father was finally over. He began to make his way down the path to the front doors.
“Nathan,” Shimra called to him making him turn around.
“Yes?” Nathan stopped and answered,
“Whatever you find in there, please don’t let it change you.” She stopped and looked down at the ground. “I...”
Nathan interrupted her, “Shimra, I know. And I love you too.”
She smirked, “That was not what I was going to say.” She walked up and patted him on the shoulder and walked past him.
“Are you sure…” she shouted out to her as she entered the doors.
Once inside both of them were thrown back by the vastness of the building. The tower reached high level after level. It was a library full of knowledge. This was the most priceless item in the world. But why would his father have led him to here. It was old and dusty but the books were still held their form from being so old. As Nathan gazed at the rotting desk that was what seemed to be greeting hall. Shimra looked for something to light making a torch.
Shimra being different from her people had chosen to be an apprentice to a human mage. She was disowned by her parents but accepted by the mage. Being that she had heighted senses she quickly became a strong apprentice. But her master was killed by the same man that defamed and possibly killed Nathans father. She found a torch and with a snap of her finger the old cloth popped into a burning flame. Nathan, being the book worm that he was had found a book on blacksmithing and began to read it. Struggling with the old common language but got the idea of the subject.
“Did you forget what we came here for?” Shimra asked approaching.
“huh…oh right lets go.” Nathan strengthened up and shoved the book into his pouch. “This way,” he pointed to the stairs.
Both of them made their way up the stairs to the area where the knights had told him to find his father. There in the old floor were the dried up bones of his father. On the floor in front of him where the shards of the sword that Nathan now had. Nathan stood quite looking at the scene that lay before him. The sword was a family heirloom and had never been broken, but here it was broken in the last of his bloodline.
“Nathan I am sorry,” Shimra sympathized
Nathan looked at the way the body was. On his stomach pointing in one direction, “Do you notice that he is pointing?”
Shimra was not sure how to answer, “Yes but…” she looked at the body
Nathan walked over to the finger that seemed to struggle to point. He follows the direction to a book shelf that had one large book. Inside of the book was a note left by his father. My dearest Nathan, I know what you have found must be horrible but I have something to tell you. The man you seek is Lord Antony of Durga. He is a powerful man and he seeks an item of great power, the Sword of Arnvidr. With it I do not know what he plans to do but you must stop him. To understand read this book it talks about the power of it and what the desire can do to a mortal.

INGAN’TORUS: RAISE OF IRETORIA
Between the land masses of Elenora and Blythe lays a large land that is cold almost year round. All of it is barbaric land and rough to any civilized peoples. One kingdom, Nargasta tried to unite the three hundred clans but failed in a brutal battle where nasty and terrible beasts tore holes in the battle lines. This king may have failed to unite them all but it gave way to eight kingdoms to form across the island.
One kingdom known as Iretoria took control of the southlands and the eighty-five islands that dotted the southern sea. Nargasta laid claim to the North West lands and forced servitude on three of other kingdoms at its borders. The other three, Ivershold, Thagonshold and Goldshold remained completely free of tyranny. Ivershold had many ports of trade but was constantly attacked by Baines. These were hideous orc like creatures that attack only at night rapping and stealing children for their disgusting meals. Ivershold continuously bought mercenaries from the south foreigners that cared not for the wellbeing of the kingdom.
Thagonshold bordered Ivershold and freely gave sanctuaries to the refugees of the raids. Trained who every wanted to go back and fight. But the sundering pits always produced more than the two countries could handle. Even though, Thagonshold held an alliance with the mining cousins of the dwaves, the Agondwarves. More and more seemed to be lost to these Baines. Through this conflict the knigdoms forced under the thumb of Nargasta were never hit by these Baines raids. Secretly they sent food and slave warriors to help but it was all in vain.
Iretoria and Goldshold being removed from the conflict watched these battles from afar not allowing their rich sons fall to the sword. Until one noble son raised an army of slaves and refugees with splendid weapons and arms. He paid a company of sergeants to train them and then marched to the border. Orphaned as a child and raised by a nanny of the late family he carried no great sway. The slaves he bought their freedom and gave each man his weight in gold coin.
All called him Ehodon called of Odynni. The army of ten thousand marched deep into Baines control lands and began their war. Town after town were liberated and captives freed from horrid nightmare that was forced on them. Years passed and the Baines had finally been driven from the lands forcing them into the north. Were they were not killed by left to live.
This angered Ehodon; he sat in his war tent at the age of thirty five and wondered if it was wise to march on another kingdoms land. The Baines would only recover and return to do double the chaos as revenge. That night slept restless dreaming of good men dying in battle to the Baines. He forced hiself to wake pushed the concubine off of him and walked to the tents door. Pulled the flap open and looked into the cold valley.
Down at the bottle his saw peace and quit as the bright moon light the sky and painted the land blue. As he continued to look at this northern border he noticed little black dots sneaking across the valley floor. And the far east part of the valley another group began to cross there. Quickly he went to his light leather rack and began to dress. Then he left the field tent in a hurry taking his sword and shield with him.
For five days skirmishes dotted up and down the valley each time Ehodon lost men. Till one day both sides gathered their force on each side of the Valley. The mountain seamed to move at the sight of the massive Baines force that had gathered. Ehodon still clinged to the hope of defeating them here and never see them again. He mustered his dying army and formed his battle lines. All but foot soldiers remained for they had to eat the horses to survive the cold winter that covered the mountains.
Snow clouds had finally made its way to the valley letting down its light snow. Ground was muddy and soaked with the rain water from days before. This last stand would be a cold one. The archers made ready as the horde began to rumble forward. Like a massive tidal wave rumbling forward covering the ground in moving bodies. Snarling and shrieking with war cry’s to scare the battle hardened warriors on the opposite side. Ehodon in his heart felt that this was the end.
The archers loosed the first volley, only to see the arrows disappear into the wave. A second, third than a fourth still the horde charge on. Then the hard charge up the mountain slowed them enough to shoot more. The bodies began to pile up, Baines falling over each other as arrows ripped the life from their horrid existence.
Then the two lines clashed with the Baines taking most of the losses but the shirr number soon began to overwhelm. Soon the horde seemed to be water around islands as the army of Ehodon began to be outnumbered and loosing brave soldiers fast. One by one the small islands began to disappear into the horde sea of swords and black armor. Till finally the Ehodon’s group was the last to be fighting. These were Elite warriors from the kingdom of Goldshold fighting with all their might. They slowly backed up the mountain losing one every ten feet and being drug away to be eaten.
Just as they no hope entered the warrior’s minds arrows rained down on the horde from the right and left sides. Then a second, third, fourth and fifth dropped many just before mounted hascarls ripped through them sending them into a panic. In an effort to rally his army the invisible lord that has been driving them to madness appeared. With jagged poison blades shouted in his hideous dark language. His skin was pale and oily teeth and claws like a werewolf. Slowly he began to creep towards Ehodon angry at his defeat. His loyal knights lunged at it but only met his blades. The horsed hascarls threw axes drawing its attention. Then Ehodon and a few more warriors charged him stabbing him until his dropped to the knees. One warrior ran in for the head but was it was too quick. The beast took the warrior in his arms and sank its teeth into the neck. This was his moment to kill it. Ehodon picked up one of the blades of the beast raised it above his head and swung down. This severed the head and cleaved the warrior into two. As the body fell to the floor soldiers threw torches and burning oil to burn the bodies to ash.
The remainder Baines fled north crossing the border in full flight. To Ehodon was given the victory and the soldiers shouted praise. The General of the horsed hascarls rode up with a blooded axe blade that dripped as he held it low. The Kingdom of Iretroia had entered the war and heard of his struggle against the Baines. Being of Iretoria Ehodon was presented the golden sword of power. This was a Tribune type of position in society. The thousand or so wounded and alive were given statesmen status within the lands of Iretoria and allies.
Since the fall of the Baines, Kingshold, Silverhold removed themselves from under the forceful rule of Nargasta and joined alliance with Iretoria. But Adenshold was the main stronghold of the Baines leaving it strongly oppressed by Nargasta. The now tribune of Iretoria took control of Iretoria and united Kingshold, Silverhold, Ivershold, Thagonhold, and Goldshold under the same banner; his. Then he invaded Nargasta overwhelming it with soldiers and warriors. No Baine escaped his army that ripped through Adenshold freeing it from their savage grip. Nargasta fell soon after to the rumble of the catapults and heavy cavalry.
As a sign of a treaty two sons of every family must serve as soldiers in the Iretorian army. Also every noble member of the ruling house was to be executed and dumped into the North Sea. The Council members were stripped of title and money and forced to live as slaves to the poor. The council member that had cheated the people had their eyes burned out and tongue cut from the mouth. He and his family would wonder as blind beggars till their end of days.
These clans had been under Nargasta rule for so long that freedom was unknown and foreignto them. Thousands of Nargasta elite warriors flooded the ranks of Ehodon and is army. After he completely conquering the entire island placing one ruling family in charge. Ehodon had completed his destiny and purpose as an Iretorian. Married at 56 years old to three wives and fathered fourteen sons and died at the age of ninty. The first born, Fehodon, joined the army as a General at the age of nineteen and commanded a force of six thousand. By the age of twenty-five he had won ten great battles and conquered six islands to the west. At the age of thirty-five he returned home to Iretoria and led a quick coup and killed the royal family placing himself as king. But he died to a dagger in the back leaving his only son to become king at twenty.
Fehodon son Elwyn the golden haired ordered the murder of his mother and step brothers leaving only himself the only heir. Elwyn swelled the military and created vast navies that sailed black sails with the white war axe sown into it. But he was murdered by the age of fifty-eight. Than Gaithein took the throne is son, a son he fathered but never claimed him legally. Gaithein forcefully married three wives taking two from other husbands. Taxed the people, threw parties for the rich, gorged himself with riches and many women.
This angered the people of Iretoria creating riots and small wars to spring up all over the island. Small bands of men stole weapons and armor from the military and raged small battles on the nobles and their body guards. Gaithein continued to have these lavish parties and foreign exotic gifts from the elves with their concubines from the east. He was happy but the people hated him for the poverty that had befallen them.
Finally the eighteen war bands agreed on one ideal and attacked the royal city Iretoria and drug Gaithein in the muddy streets. They showed him to the people in the main square and the run down quarters of the once powerful city. Then strung him up with only his undergarments and made him what as all of his exotic gifts were thrown to the people. The coffers were opened and thrown into the streets to all the beggars. As a final punishment his wives, concubines, and advisors washed the streets with bloody water as a warning. A warning that will not be easily forgotten.
Gaithein died thirty years later of a bad heart leaving the kingdom to his only child, a woman. The kingdom fractured and was about to break into civil war when she called for conquest of Blythe. Riches, fame and grand glory promised to the warlords if they joined her in this feat. Thianna, the silver tongue they called her. Slick snake like persuasion with words, but she held the grand idea of greatness for her people. First she landed troops on the northern borders, the forbidden lands.
Great losses shattered her dreams. Minotaurs, satyrs and Baines destroyed he camps and killed all the warriors. With only eight ships and four hundred soldiers, she returned to Iretoria. There in the keep of Iretoria she sulked over the loss of a hundred and sixty thousand warriors and eight hundred warships. Tears and sadness led to suicide leaving her bastard son to throne. At age six he buried his mother of forty years old left to the advisors that only wanted money for themselves.
After twenty years of academy training Baethone, returned to the city of Iretoria ascending the throne. He rebuilt the navy and army then began a new conquest of Blythe. But this time the Elves would not stop them.
