Motivation and Air Conditioning
I had the day to write and goofed off the first half but more than made up for it in the second half of the day. One of my characters went dark and oh, it was soooo damned cool.
I'm tempted to keep working, but I just put a chipotle/raspberry pork loin on the grill with some olive oil, garlic and basil seasoned potatoes, carrots, onions and green peppers. My family went to the lake for the day and it's just not something I am into these days. But they love it, so I hope they had a blast! I'm cooking for them because I remember being starved when I got home from all day at the lake. But I was always too tired to cook, so hopefully this will be a treat for them.
To me, it's just too hot to be under that sun for so long. Eek. And lately, I'm working pretty hard to get ahead. I'm unbelievably motivated and determined. Luckily, I can do my thing under the air conditioning because I've never been so tired of over 100 degrees day after day after day. Anyone know a good rain dance?

Quick Note About Store
Quick note because I saw someone looking for shirts from my Write Snark store. Ironically, I deleted that store this morning. I was using a free version at Cafe Press so it doesn't get main page exposure and there hadn't been a sale in over a year.
I'm devoting my time to my writing career for now. Who knows, I might start that up again at some point if I can find the marketing time.

Welcome!
Wow. Yesterday, I checked blog stats (This is what some of us more obsessive writers on submission do.) and this place had exploded! I followed the trail back to Gena Showalter's fan site. LOL! Yeah, I sent her several images of that beautiful, beautiful man to help cheer her up last week. Hey, she does the same for me.
Wish I had up something a little more exciting for you all to read for your first visit here. But I'm in the middle of some revisions and working my butt off!
So, to make up for it, here's a silly image of Gena and me at a Christmas party not too long ago.
Actually, I should put up the crazy war of wits we had online a few years ago, but I'll be nice. We used Photoshop, and um, got in trouble with some members of our RWA chapter for being too raunchy. Good times.

Crazy Colorful
Okay, admitting that it is REALLY HARD not to talk about the things that go on behind the scenes. But I'm good. Plus, should any of this not work out, I'm not standing in public with egg on my face.
Been there.
It's stinky.
But here's the thing. I can see my usual readers stopping by and I want you to know that I am still working my butt off to make my dream come true here.
It is impossible to not get your hopes up when you have several projects out and I'm actually doing a little work for one or two possibilities. I feel a little like this picture. Crazy colorful, a bit insane, but so damned happy to have my balls in the air.
(Wait…maybe I should rephrase that…. Nah. )
This cool pic is by Lioness65.

Blogging
I have been such a bad blogger. I am actually juggling quite a few writing projects and honestly don't know what to talk about here yet. There are things going on behind the scenes, but if there's one thing I've learned being in this business so long, don't share until full confirmation has been reached. LOL! Seriously, you wouldn't believe how close I've come several times.
I do have a few blog posts in the works. I just need to cement a few things so I can truly focus and give you guys something interesting to read. ;)

Okies Are Getting Crispy
Had to be out all afternoon and OMG, it was 112 degrees. I don't even want to know how hot it was inside my car–but it was enough to cause dizziness FAST.
I'm a wuss.

Explaining to the Non Writer
It's been some time since I shared one of my more revealing, behind-the-scenes posts. Did you miss em?
So…I'm always working to explain things to my husband. And sometimes, trying to explain things I don't truly understand myself makes it even more interesting. He mostly wants to know why everything takes so long and honestly, I don't have answers for that one. I've explained how busy people in publishing are, but he always counters with how busy people in all businesses are. I talk about having to rework contracts, etc, but that doesn't work either because he used to be in contracts and reworked a LOT of them.
So, I'd kind of put a stop to the never-ending, no-answers conversations. Really, as someone who likes being in control, having so much of this outside my control is already difficult enough without having to re-explain why I continue to try. But then, something else came up and I found myself in this conversation.
Hubs "So, if they go for the book, how long until it's published."
Me "Depends on how long it takes for the rewrites and–"
Hubs breaks in "Rewrites? But you already did rewrites for another publisher–wouldn't that cover it?"
Me "Oh no. Each editor is going to have a different idea for the book so no matter where it ends up, there will be rewrites again."
Hubs "Then it's published."
Me "No, not even then. I'll get the book back for different sets of edits–"
Hubs breaks in "I think I want to remain ignorant."
Poor dude.
So, as we writers suffer through the fires of waiting torment… it's good to remember that our loved ones are as well and it's possible they're so far removed from the process, they don't know why. My husband doesn't read blogs or get on Twitter. He isn't in email loops with other authors. He only sees my part of the process and as a logical, linear thinker, he doesn't get it. But… he also loves me and knows how much I love the writing. He knows more than anyone else how badly I want to publish books. So, he puts up with a lot.
There should be a national Spouses of Writers day. Only that might not be enough. They really deserve a whole month.
