Dweller on the Threshold-Amazon

Dweller on the Threshold is up for pre-order on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/Dweller-Threshold-Beri-ODell-ebook/dp/B00BV308E8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1363543064&sr=8-2&keywords=rinda+elliott

eARCs went out to reviewers on Friday, so I’m biting my nails a bit while waiting for that first response. Because I live in the real world, I know there will be readers who hate it, but I’m hoping there will be some who love it, too.

8 days and counting!

Official Dweller on the Threshold Blurb

Tagline:

On a hunt to save her sister, the last thing Beri O’Dell needs is love. Aren’t demons bad enough?

Blurb:

Beri O’Dell is investigating paranormal creatures because she wants to know what she is.  Taller and stronger than most men, she astral projects and can peel through dimensional layers to see the creatures and spirits beyond.

She once helped her foster sister, Detective Elsa Remington, track down killers in Jacksonville, Florida, but stopped when a nasty fire elemental turned her strength against her. Now, she finds herself pulled back when something steals Elsa’s soul and puts her into a coma.

With little time to spare, Beri searches for the reason behind her sister’s coma. She has help in her spirit guides Fred and Phro, but others come along for the ride, including a pyro-nervous witch, and an androgynous necromancer.

The last thing Beri needs is to fall in love with a mysterious stranger. But the handsome Minoan warrior Nikolos knows what creature she’s after because he’s battled it before.

It’s bad.

Really, really bad.

He calls it the Dweller on the Threshold.

Warning:

Contains a worried heroine with no time, a witch with fire problems, a pissed-off necromancer, a trapped goddess, and a damned sexy, but scary, warrior. Throw in bloody battles, mass-murderer history lessons and a bit of sexy time and you get the start of Beri’s new life.

I’m getting excited about this release, though I am a little nervous about the lack of exposure I’ve been able to get on it. I’ll be relying on word-of-mouth help with this book, so feel free to share.

I’ll see about making a small banner for websites, etc.

Norse Mythology-Just Love It

http://www.history.com/shows/vikings

The hubby and I are looking forward to this show. My first name is Norse and it means giant. Before I knew that, my interest in the history and mythology was strong. I read everything I could get my hands one. I even wrote an entire young adult novel (the first in a trilogy) around modern day heroines and heroes using the wonderful myths. That trilogy had six big publishers come forward with interest but it didn’t pan out. Honestly? That was one of the hardest experiences I’ve gone through because I had harsh personal stuff going on at the time. I had editors calling it strong, wonderful and romantic. Yet, none seemed ready to take that plunge into a mythology that isn’t as well known as Greek, etc.

Thing is, that book is STILL under consideration at several houses. One of them is a dream publication of mine and the wait is killer. Things move so, so, so slowly in the publishing world. I still believe in these books, so I’m thinking of publishing them myself. Because I love them. They are about three sisters who share a fate that changes the world. The first book is about Raven and Vanir. I’d love for you guys to get to read about them. :)

EXCERPT!!!

I put up an excerpt of Dweller on the Threshold on Tumblr! I’m not sure how to set up comments there, so if you’d like to comment, you can come back here.

I do plan to round up all these websites into one at some point. Need to learn how to build my own. ;)

Beri O’Dell Series Updates

SO MUCH going on right now. Just finished edits on Dweller on the Threshold. I have one or two more rounds, but I did a pretty massive rewrite on the book at the same time. We had a little scheduling issue, so this book has been pushed back to a March 26th release date.

And because my editor and I have a few hopes for the sequel, we’ve pushed that release back to October. This give me more time to write a better book and do edits at a friendlier pace. We’d like to get it into Romantic Times, Publisher’s Weekly, etc. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible with Dweller, so I’m hopeful some readers will love the first book in the series enough to want to help spread the word about it.

So, I’m pretty pumped.

I’ve also got a few things making the submission rounds and a couple of exciting possibilities. I’m kind of dying for one (well, it’s technically four) of these to go through and the wait gets harder every day. Seriously, if you plan to be a published writer, plan to wait. And wait… ;)

Oh! I started a Tumblr. I like the quick, fun aspect of it. Plan to do book snippets and post fun pics of my work days with my critique partner, Rachel Vincent. I can no longer add images here. I do plan to change this website into an actual website that will allow me to have more control over the site.  Until then, here’s my new Tumblr!

Cover Reveal!!!! Dweller on the Threshold!!!!

Coming soon! Release date is March 5, 2013. There will be one more final cover. The top left has been reserved for a cover quote. ;)

DwellerOnTheThreshold72lg

Here’s my working blurb:

Beri O’Dell is working on the side investigating paranormal creatures because she wants to know what she is.  She’s taller and stronger than most men, she astral projects with an annoyingly real instead of metaphysical cord, and she can peel through dimensional layers to see the creatures and spirits beyond.

She once helped her foster sister, Detective Elsa Remington, track down killers in Jacksonville, Florida, but stopped when a nasty fire elemental turned her strength against her. Now, she finds herself pulled back when something steals Elsa’s soul and puts her into a coma. This thing has put a lot of people into comas and beings called Dweller Demons are coming through the bodies. With little time to spare, Beri battles Dweller Demons while searching for the cause. She has help in her spirit guides Fred and Phro, but others come along for the ride, including a pyro-nervous witch, and an androgynous necromancer. With all this on her hands, the last thing Beri needs is to fall in love with a centuries-old Minoan warrior—one who has something scary wrong with him. But unfortunately, Nikolos knows what creature she’s after because he battled it before on what is now known as Crete. It’s bad. Really, really bad.

He calls it the Dweller on the Threshold.
