Anna Butler A picture and a thousand words...

Hi everyone it is Teaser Tuesday and that means it is time to give you guys a look into some new books....No these aren't my books but a fellow author's.
Her name is Anna Butler and she is stopping by The Purple Fantasy Den to promote two of her new books.
This post was supposed to appear earlier in her tour but I have been fighting an illness and some things slipped through the cracks which I apologize for.
Without further ado I am turning the blog over to Anna Butler!

Are you a visualiser or a words person?
I’m not really thinking here about the pure differences between left and right brain thinking – that’s waaaayy too scientific for me. Although, it is true that a person who is primarily a visual thinker can have difficulty in putting their thoughts down into words—Einstein, for example. Did you know he said "The words of the language, as they are written or spoken, do not seem to play any role in my mechanisms of thought. The physical entities which seem to serve as elements in thought are certain signs and more or less clear images which can be voluntarily combined." I love it that one of the most intelligent men on the planet had this little wrinkle in the way he thought.
I was thinking more about how much writers also need images and visions to help them write. Or, at least, I do.
Before I start writing anything, as I’m researching it—researching steampunk, or sports in Victorian London, or interferomatic dispersion (yup, seriously)—I search for images too. Sometimes I’m looking for people who can stand in for my heroes, for Flynn or Bennet and Ned or Rafe, and whose faces will often be in my mind as I write. Often, too. it’s peripheral images: clothing, spaceships, steampunky coffee machines, weapons...
That’s where Pinterest comes in. I know I groaned and grumbled at first at the thought of yet another social networking site to suck up my time, but Pinterest has been incredibly useful for inspiration, story-boarding and storing research results. No longer do I have to print out loads of pictures and stick them in a folder. These days it’s there, ready, at the click of a button.
I have a personal board set up for the things that are nothing to do with my writing. But my writing boards are a treasure trove of things relating to the Taking Shield series or The Gilded Scarab. Everything from how a gentleman tied his puttees, to a hand drawn sketch of the layout of the hangars and launch bays for the Gyrfalcon. Each book has a board dedicated to it on my account but the other boards are the attractors for other people using Pinterest, who may find my boards because they’re looking for images of coffee machines or Victorian ladies clothing, but then find the boards of the books and take a look at those too.
It can’t stand alone as a way of reaching a new audience, but it can certainly help you both organise your thinking/planning/researching phase and send a few new people your way. I thoroughly recommend it.
Of course, you have to have a will of iron not to spend hours there, looking at the pretties…
You can find my boards at Anna Butler, Pinterest by following the link.

When Captain Rafe Lancaster is invalided out of the Britannic Imperium’s Aero Corps after crashing his aerofighter during the Second Boer War, his eyesight is damaged permanently, and his career as a fighter pilot is over. Returning to Londinium in late November 1899, he’s lost the skies he loved, has no place in a society ruled by an elite oligarchy of powerful Houses, and is hard up, homeless, and in desperate need of a new direction in life.
Everything changes when he buys a coffeehouse near the Britannic Imperium Museum in Bloomsbury, the haunt of Aegyptologists. For the first time in years, Rafe is free to be himself. In a city powered by luminiferous aether and phlogiston, and where powerful men use House assassins to target their rivals, Rafe must navigate dangerous politics, deal with a jealous and possessive ex-lover, learn to make the best coffee in Londinium, and fend off murder and kidnap attempts before he can find happiness with the man he loves.

The polished wood and dark red velvet of the lobby carried through into the Praecipias, giving the lounge a rich and luxurious feel. The light of crystal chandeliers glinted on cut glass and the bottles ranged on shelves behind the bar. As the maître d’ had hinted, it was still rather early and the company was thin. Two patrons sat at separate tables. They straightened and looked back at me when I glanced around, both wearing smiles and expectant expressions. But no. They were good enough, but neither appealed to me. The trick was to pretend I hadn’t noticed them at all, instead focusing on my scotch and lighting one of the thin cigarillos I’d bought at the tobacconist. That way no one’s feelings were hurt.
A shame, perhaps… but no. Thanks to Phryne’s careful hands, I was shining that night. I deserved better than good enough. I deserved much better, and I could afford to wait until there was someone whose company I fancied. So I drew on my cigarillo and inhaled the sharp smoke. If I tilted my head back, I could watch the smoke float up toward the embossed ceiling. It hung in the light, drifting back and forth, and back and forth.
“May I buy you a drink, sir?”
I really am not a nervous man, but I jumped. Good Lord! Where had he come from? Sneaking up from the left, where I still had difficulty seeing things on the edge of sight, I supposed. I hadn’t seen him approach, and now that I looked, two or three others must have come into the room while I had contemplated my scotch and stared at the ceiling. Two stood at the bar talking, and a third slid into a chair at a table near mine, his dark eyes raking me over. He looked faintly familiar, although I couldn’t imagine where I’d seen him. He was well enough, too, but I turned my attention to the man who’d spoken to me.
Oh, but this one was better than good enough! Much better.
About my age, by the look of him, but as fair as I’m dark—wheat blond hair in artful disorder, with quite astonishing hazel eyes set above high, pronounced cheekbones and a strong mouth and chin. Thank God he had a chin. There were far too many men who had none worthy of the name. The rest of the stranger was rather attractive too. He leaned on a cane in his right hand, inclining his long, trim body toward me. It gave him a slight air of eagerness that was, I felt, distinctly flattering, as well as allowing him to show off an evening suit that fitted him like the proverbial glove and must have cost a very pretty penny. Definitely better than just good enough. Unless he turned out to have all the personality faults of Attila the Hun, this one would most certainly merit further attention.
And, really, Attila the Hun hadn’t been all bad. He was rumored to have been very considerate of his horses.

Earth’s last known colony, Albion, is fighting an alien enemy. In the first of the Taking Shield series, Shield Captain Bennet is dropped behind the lines to steal priceless intelligence. A dangerous job, and Bennet doesn’t need the distractions of changing relationships with his long-term partner, Joss, or with his father—or with Flynn, the new lover who will turn his world upside-down. He expects to risk his life. He expects the data will alter the course of the war. What he doesn’t expect is that it will change his life or that Flynn will be impossible to forget.

EXCERPT
As advertised, the Shield officer was proving to be the enigma that everyone had expected.
Flynn had worked it that first briefing so he got a good look before anyone else. He liked what he saw. In his black uniform, the Shield captain stood out in the crowd of Fleet pale grey. Everything about the Shield rig was plain. The rank pips in the stand-up collar of the tunic under his flight jacket were a dull silver, and only about half the size of the ones Simonitz wore. There wasn't a medal ribbon in sight. Only the tiny, ornate Shield badge at his throat was a bright silver.
The monochromatic look suited the Shield captain, matching his black hair and the pale grey eyes. The captain's hair had more cowlicks than a field full of heifers, spiking up despite it being worn longer than was strictly regulation. Flynn took note, too, of cheekbones so sharply defined that they looked like they'd been machine cut, and a strong mouth. The face was youthful, except for the eyes. They'd seen a lot. Altogether, the Shield captain was definitely one of the pretty people in life. Almost as pretty as Flynn himself.
Cruz, to whom he imparted this insight in the OC after Bennet's first visit, rolled her eyes so hard it was a wonder the girl didn't have to grope about on the deck for them. She had never appreciated his true worth. He had to guilt her into buying him a beer in reparation.
He sipped his beer appreciatively. It always tasted better when someone else was paying. “What d'you think of him?”
“Seems pleasant enough.” Cruz shrugged. “He didn't tell us much, though. I didn't think he would.”
“No. And that first briefing was a bit basic. Wonder what he was fishing for there.”
“We'll likely find out in time,” said Cruz.
“I'd rather know now.” Flynn took a pull on his beer. “Simonitz doesn't like him.”
“Did Sim ever apply for Shield?”
“You picked up on that too, did you? I don't know, but there were a few hints there. I thought the Shield was pretty gracious about it, with Sim sitting there glowering all night.”
Cruz nodded. After a minute, she said, “He was good with Nairn, taking him seriously. Some people might have laughed or slapped the kid down.”
“Nairn's a question mark on legs, some days.”
“He's young for his age.”
“And getting a severe case of hero worship,” Flynn said, laughing.
Cruz looked at Flynn, brown eyes warm with affection and amusement. “He's not the only one, I'd say.” She smiled. “Would you?”

Storming Love: Blizzard Layne, River and Damion Release Day Post

It is Freaky Friday and as you all know that means anything goes!
I am going to devote today to my newest release from MLR Press...

Blurb:
It has taken Damion Martin six months to finally start to get over the startling break-up from his partner Layne Haylse. They’d been high school sweethearts and blissfully in love.
Then the man suddenly wanted nothing to do with him. Having to work with him at Yale University almost every day made the separation that much harder.
Meeting the young marketing major, River Cunningham, may just be the ticket to helping Damion heal. But they say that to every story there’s two sides, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
When a harrowing blizzard crashes through Connecticut, trapping all three men inside the campus library, they will soon find that sometimes things aren’t as black and white as they seem.
When the truth is revealed, it may change their lives forever.
Excerpt:“Reports are coming in from a reporter in Philadelphia who states that the snowstorm appears to be growing in intensity and hitting from three separate areas. Much like the blizzard in ’93. I think we may be facing a very serious blizzard over the next few days, Marva. So if you are living within the path of the storm, it is best that you are prepared to spend a lot of time in front of the fireplace or the heater, with no place to go. This is Andrew Zax of XKLT 1830 AM Connecticut News.”
River shook his head. Meteorologists were a bunch of alarmists. He turned his head to look out one of the windows of the library, the smattering of snowflakes that drifted past the glass plane making a liar of Andrew Zax. River scoffed. He didn’t know why everyone was freaking out over a little bit of frozen rain. That’s all snow was. The people in Connecticut were behaving as if they had never experienced winter before. The three inches of snow River had tromped through to get to the library was nothing compared to his family’s vacation to Nova Scotia, Canada a few years previous. Now that was a snowstorm.
River was pretty sure a person had never experienced a true blizzard until they’d experienced one in the Great White North.River grit his teeth as the janitor’s cart approached, the wheel squeaking as it got closer. He narrowed his eyes, raising his finger, prepared to shush the campus employee, but his reprimand got lodged in his lungs as he stared at the broad shouldered, dark brown-skinned, black man, walking behind the maintenance cart.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
The man looked exactly like Morris Chestnut and, trying to be as discreet as possible, River grabbed his cellphone out ofthe back of his jeans pocket and lifted it in front of his face as if he were texting in order to snap a picture. He took three orfour rapid pictures, especially one of the stranger bending over, because… yum… and lowered the phone back to the table and sent the photos to his best friend Michelle.
The warm breath on the side of his neck startled him and he let out a loud squeak.
“I hope you got some good pictures there, jailbait. Though you really didn’t get my best side. I look much better with myclothes off.”
River’s mouth dropped open and he stared as the janitor winked at him before turning to walk off. River fell back against his chair, his eyes sliding closed. He covered his face, his cheeks burning hotly in embarrassment. He couldn’t believe that he’d been caught! More than that, the janitor had seemed amused… no, almost flirtatious with him about it. In what universe did that happen to him?
Before River could dwell on it any further, his phone vibrated on the table in front of him. Reaching out, he snatched up his cell to check Michelle’s response before the librarian had a chance to chastise him. The guy was hot, just as hot as the janitor, but he was a stick-in-the mud. Way too strict.
Sliding his finger across the screen, River read the message and covered his mouth to stop the laugh that tried to burst free.
If you need tips on how to have sex with Morris Chestnut, I think the campus library has the Kama Sutra in the Reference Section under Gender and Sexuality Studies.

The Importance Of The Warning Label
Hey Everyone!
-points above-
Did you all see the pretty new banner?
-strokes it lovingly-
I have an awesome friend who loves me who made it for me...
Okay... now for the truth.
I have a friend who extorts free babysitting out of me who made it for me. It's a good trade I think.
Anyway!
I haven't just blogged in a while and my lovely assistant, Melissa told me that I should. So I agreed with her.
Sorta.
During the week I still have my theme days:
Monday: Man-Oh-Man Mondays (Flash Fiction stories based on pictures, written by yours truly or author friends and then pimping new releases or retro releases)
Tuesday: Tantalizing Teaser Tuesdays (Sexy, Naughty, Teasing excerpts from either me or author friends and then pimping a new release or a coming soon release)
Wednesday: Work In Progress Wednesday (An excerpt from something either I or an author friend is currently working on and then pimping the book(s) that go with that series or another book that has just released or is about to release)
Thursday: Thursday Pimping (NEW RELEASES! This is the day I invite author friends to come and talk about their new releases. Blog tours, cover reveals, etc. It's all about new releases and pimping new releases on Thursdays here on The Purple Fantasy Den!)
Friday: Freaky Friday (Anything Goes. Literally. I turn the den over to author friends, bloggers, guests, reviewers, my daughter, sometimes I'll post. It's anything goes. I only have one restriction: Nothing controversial. But other than that. They can post whatever they want. Porn? Sure. Cat videos? Go for it. Miley Cyrus videos? -shudders- Okay. If you must. It's carte blanche for the guest!)
Saturday & Sunday: The Alpha Dom's Den (It's my turn! I get to blog. I may share about my new releases. I may blog about a book I've enjoyed. I may talk about something in the news. I may just put up a picture to get you through the weekend. But whatever it is, the weekend is MINE.)
From The Alpha Dom's Den The Importance Of The Warning Label
In the last month I have read two really amazing books. Like uh-mah-zing. The kind I'd give the Vic Seal Of Approval to. The only problem?
Neither one of them came with any warning.
I'm not talking about Warning: This book contains sex between two men.
Because ummm.... hello? I was reading a gay romance I was kind of expecting that.
No, the warning I'm talking about was more along the lines of Warning: This book contains mentions of child abuse both physical and sexual, mentions of rape, domestic violence, non-con, and child pornography. Or in the other book. Warning: This book contains child abuse which may trigger some readers, violence against a minor child, and suicide. Read with caution.
This is not to say these books weren't good. They were amazing. And you all know I don't give those compliments lightly. We're still at the beginning of the year and already I'm going to be giving out my second seal of approval to a book, but you all also know how I am about recommending books to you all. I feel as though you should know what I know. If there is a double penetration scene in there? I tell you. Fisting? I tell you.
Girly bits? Well, I'll tell you that too.
Why?
Because not everyone likes what I like. And some readers are triggered by things that I am not triggered by and some aren't.
That's the big thing that I'm talking about here.
Triggers.
There's a book that I LOVE by my friend Amy Lane: Living Promises. I read it once and sobbed my eyes out. I was warned ahead of time about the book but I didn't listen and read it anyway. Even though I love that book to pieces and Amy did an amazing job. I will never read that book again. Why? It has too many triggers for me. It hits WAY too close to home for me. Just thinking about the book too much makes me want to close myself off in my room and cry or grab my nearest friend and let them hold me like a baby.
And I am not a little man.
So having warnings on books, in blurbs, is important, in my opinion to avoid situations like this.
When I read the first book I talked about above I was at about 66% of the way through, thinking that the author was going to continue to hint at what had happened to the character, without going into explicit detail, when BAM there it was. It wasn't a little bit either. I would have been okay with vagueness, but it was the description that got me. My body trembled, I got a lump in my throat and before I knew it I was waking up my roommate as I stumbled through the house to deal with the ramifications of it all.
I could have closed the book and stopped, yes, but I needed resolution. I needed a HEA for the character by that point. And like I said, the book was AMAZING. The author had done a brilliant job pulling that type of reaction out of ME, because I'm the person, the reader who usually reads books and will usually tell authors: "Readers are going to cry right here." And they'll ask me: "Oh! You cried?" And I'll laugh and say: "No. I don't cry. But I can tell you that readers are definitely going to cry right there though."
The fact that I was having a reaction was a big deal. I wasn't prepared for it. Now if there had been a warning on the book, would I have not bought it? No. I still would have. I just would have been armed. I would have told my roommate: "Hey, remember that book that had this, this, this and this in it? I'm getting ready to read it." And she'd be like: "Oh shit. Alright. I'll go make the nachos and put on Torchwood." And we'd be set. LOL.
And sometimes warnings can be fun. I put a warning on The Alpha's Beautiful Mate letting people know that it might cause them to spit out liquids on their electronic devices and that I was intending it be humorous. But for the most part? Warning labels are there, should be there for those readers who may be triggered by the contents within. It's also something to protect the author and the publisher because I know I would hate to receive an email from a reader telling me that they read one of my books that triggered them so horribly that it sent them into a depression or worse.
And the thing is? Those who need the warnings look for them, and those who don't look over them.
But again, that's just my opinion.
So I think warnings are the responsibility of not just the author but the publisher as well. And if the publisher doesn't put the warning on the book or the website, then it's up to us as the authors to make sure you, the readers, know what the warnings, or the triggers, may be. What do you think?
What are some warnings you have seen or wish you had seen on books?

Shae Connor Unfortunate Son Blog Tour Post

Interview with Evan and RileyBy Shae Connor
For my penultimate Unfortunate Son blog tour post (I just wanted an excuse to use the word “penultimate”), J.P. Barnaby suggested that I throw a few questions at my main characters and see what they come up with. No rules. Just weirdness.
Me: Let’s start off simple. What’s your favorite color?Evan: Blue. Riley’s is pink. And sparkly.Riley: Blue, really? So predictable, honey. And yes, I do like pink, and sometimes sparkly, but you don’t have to make it sound like I live in a Barbie Dream House.Evan: No, but you have at least four bottles of pink and sparkly nail polish in your bathroom.Riley: Awww, I didn’t know you’d counted. Evan: Well, after we knocked them all off the shelf last week…Riley: I tried to tell you to watch out for that, but you were too busy tearing off my clothes.Evan: Yeah, well… next question??
Me: I could’ve done with hearing more, but okay. Favorite food?Evan: Easy. Pizza.Riley: *sigh* I swear, he’d order it every night if I didn’t cook. Not that I have anything against pizza, but most of the time, I’d rather have seafood or roasted veggies.Evan: Well, really, my favorite food is whatever Riley cooks. Except peas. I hate peas.Riley: Now he’s just trying to butter me up.Evan: Is it working?Riley: … maybe.
Me: What’s the favorite place you’ve ever visited?Riley: Now that’s easy. Paris. There’s just something about the City of Lights.Evan: I didn’t know you’d been to Paris.Riley: Just once, but I’d love to go back.Evan: Maybe we’ll honeymoon there.Riley: … is there something you haven’t told me?Evan: *smile* Nope. Not a thing. Anyway, my favorite place is New York City, but I’ve never been to Paris, so that could always change.
Me: All right, then… do you want to get married? In general I mean.Evan: I never really thought about it until recently. I mean, it wasn’t like I could anyway. But things are changing so fast, so yeah. Yeah, I think I’d like that. Someday.Riley: When I was younger—I mean, a little kid—I was ringbearer in my cousin’s wedding. I wore a tiny little white tuxedo and everything. And I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I wanted to be wearing a real tuxedo, all grown up and standing in front of the preacher with the person I loved next to me.Evan: *reaches out to squeeze Riley’s hand* You romantic.Riley: *grins* Fair warning, though. I might want the colors to be blush and bashful.
Me: What is it with all the Steel Magnolias quotes anyway?Evan: That’s Cory’s fault.Riley: It isn’t like we hadn’t all seen the film. But Cory does particularly seem to enjoy quoting from it, and after their being friends so long, Evan picked up on that. Now we all seem to be doing it.Evan: There are worse things to quote.
Me: Very true. So here’s something a little more personal. Riley, have you watched any of Evan’s films?Riley: No. And no, I don’t plan to.
Me: Do you mind if I ask why not?Riley: It’s nothing against them, you understand. I don’t have a problem with any of it. But I have the real thing in my bed every night. Why would I need a digital reproduction?
Me: Excellent point. Before we go, anything else you’d like your readers to know?Evan: My favorite color isn’t really blue.Riley: Why did you say it is?Evan: I don’t know.Riley: Well, then what is your favorite color?Evan: Your hair in the sunlight.Riley: Jesus. And you called me a romantic.Evan: What can I say? You bring it out in me.Riley: … excuse us. I think we need a little time alone to… discuss this topic in more… depth.
Me: Don’t let me stop you, boys!

Five years ago, Evan Day lost his lover in the Afghan sand, and in the fallout, he lost his military career and his family. With help from friends, he reinvented himself as porn star Trevor Hardball, but his scars are hidden, not healed. When Riley Yeats falls into Evan’s lap in a bar, he awakens a part of Evan he’d thought was dead and gone. Evan’s fascinated by the blond and twinky Riley, even though he’s the opposite of Evan’s usual type.
Then Evan’s family reappears his life, and Evan soon learns Riley has his own family-inflicted wounds—ones that make it hard for him to be there for Evan. A disastrous confrontation between Evan and his parents leaves Evan’s mother injured and Evan overcome by anger and fear. Losing his tenuous hold on his emotional control, Evan makes one bad decision after another, but maybe his final fall will be the wake-up call Evan needs to set things right—with his parents, and with Riley.

Amanda C. Stone The Adventures of Cole and Perry Cover Reveal

Well today we are doing double duty since we have a cover reveal to pimp today as well!
So without further ado let me hand the reins over to.....

Blurb:
It all started when Cole met Perry in a bar. Over three years they had some exciting adventures, and misadventures. The six stories included in this book are all about their journey from bar to wedding.
The Anniversary
Another cancellation of plans by his boyfriend forces Cole out to the neighborhood bar. Not long after arriving he meets Perry. Even as exciting as Perry is, he's unsure how the night will end.
The Fight
Cole and Perry are struggling to make time for each other and constantly at each other’s throats. A fight to the death will decide who is right or wrong in their arguments. But Cole really doesn't want to shoot Perry.
The Threesome
Deciding they want to spice up things in the bedroom, Perry wants to have a one-time threesome. Cole's nervous and doesn't want to ask any of their friends to join them. Perry finds the perfect solution.
The House
After two and a half years together, Cole and Perry want to buy a house. Once they find the perfect house, they get to spend their first morning together in their new space. Perry will have to help Cole decide which room is his favorite.
The Baby
Both Cole and Perry are exhausted. Taking care of a three month old is hard when she's up all night and is always hungry. If only they could find where they put the bottle warmer.
The Wedding
Cole is ready to make his commitment to Perry life-long. After careful planning, they created the perfect event. What could possibly go wrong? If only Cole didn't ask the same question.

Excerpt:
“Cole. I have a surprise for you. I want you to close your eyes and keep them closed until I tell you to open them.”
Cole looked up from his magazine at the doorway Perry’s voice drifted in from. He put the magazine on his nightstand and closed his eyes.
“They’re closed,” he called out. He wasn’t sure where Perry was in their apartment, but he sounded close.
Rustling and a strange squeaking noise reached his ears. Cole furrowed his brows trying to figure out what Perry was up to and what he was hearing.
“Okay. Go ahead and open your eyes.”
Cole popped his eyes open. He closed them and then re-opened them again. Nope, he still was seeing what was in front of him.
“Perry. Why is there--?”
Perry cut him off before Cole could finish his thought.
“So, we had talked about fantasies and things like that. I told you this was mine. So I’d like to introduce you to Freddy. Freddy, I’d like to introduce you to my boyfriend, Cole.”
Cole smiled at how nervous Perry was. His boyfriend was adorable trying to be brave with his ideas.
“Nice to meet you, um, Freddy. Perry, where did you meet Freddy?”
Perry had a small smile on his face that showed Cole he appreciated he was alright with what was happening.
“Online. I found Freddy on some website. Can’t remember the name now.”
Cole was stunned. His boyfriend didn’t go to those types of websites for any reason. Just meant Perry wanted to have the threesome and was willing to do it without asking one of their friends. Cole was so happy Perry had found a way to have his fantasy.

Blog Tour Stop: CANNING THE CENTER by Tara Lain

Hey Everyone! It's Thursday so you know what that means here on The Purple Fantasy Den Thursday Pimping!!
Today we will hand the blog over to Miss Tara Lain so let's see what you got lady!

(Long Pass Chronicles, #2)
By Tara Lain
Blurb:Six foot seven inch, 300 pound Jamal Jones loves football, so when he finds out the ultra-conservative owner of his new pro football team fired their current center because he’s gay, bisexual Jamal decides to stay in the closet and hang with the females.
Then, at a small drag show, he comes face-to-face with his sexual fantasy in the form of Trixie LaRue, a drag queen so exquisitely convincing she scrambles Jamal’s hormones -- and his resolve to nurse his straight side.
Trevor Landry, aka Trixie LaRue, hides more than his genitals. A mathematician so brilliant he can’t be measured, Trevor disguises his astronomical IQ and his quirk for women’s clothes behind his act as a gay activist undergrad at Southern California University.
To Trevor, Jamal is the answer to a dream -- a man who can love and accept both his personas. When he discovers Jamal’s future is threatened if he’s seen with a guy, Trevor becomes Trixie to let Jamal pass as straight. But Trevor risks his position every time he puts on a dress. Is there a closet big enough to hold a football pro and a drag queen?

Available for purchase at

Excerpt
Trevor stuck out a hand. “My name’s Trevor. Pleased to meet you.”
Jamal reached out to take the offered handshake and—whoops! In one gentle pull on Trevor’s arm that clearly required no effort on Jamal’s part, Trevor was up against that huge chest. “I’m Jamal. I don’t mean to be presumptuous. Just tell me to stop. But if I don’t kiss you again soon, I’m a dead man.”
Trevor smiled up into those dark brown eyes. “I would never want to be accused of murder.”
Such full, full lips. They moved slowly down, down to Trevor’s. The first touch sent a flash like lightning through every nerve, and he shivered.
Jamal pulled back. “Cold?”
“Quite the contrary.” He wrapped his arms tightly around the bunny’s neck.
Invitation delivered. Jamal’s mouth closed over Trevor’s. Those lips were just as soft as they looked, but not as silky as the tongue that slipped into his mouth. Oh my, a girl could get drunk on this sweetness. Trevor opened and received, allowing exploration—and sharing it. His poor abused cock, which had spent a couple of hours locked between his asscheeks, wanted to stretch in a whole new direction. Sweet God, he hadn’t throbbed like this in ages. One leg crawled up Jamal’s ass all by itself—and it was a long way up. Too far to get his bulge anywhere near its rightful companion. His eyes popped open. “Well, damn. Not much chance of sexing you up unless we’re lying down.”
Jamal chuckled. “Oh no, sweet thing, there are advantages to all these muscles.”
He picked Trevor up under the butt. Yes! Contact.
Trevor looked into those melted chocolate eyes. “I am estimating your equipment fully matches in size the other proportions of your body?” He wrapped his legs around Jamal’s surprisingly narrow waist.
Instead of getting all peacocky like he had the right to, Jamal kind of blushed. “Yeah. Sorry.”
“Surely you jest.”
He grinned, but he was breathing hard. “So you don’t mind big all over?”
“Not one little bit.”
Jamal rode Trev up and down against his cock. Oh God, that felt so good. Trevor never had decent sex because he had this reputation to uphold, and Trixie never had sex at all. Jesus, that added up to one crappy sex life. But the bunny was like a world in the middle. With Jamal, for the first time, he got to be both Trevor and Trixie and that was whole and perfect and hot! “You might want to stop unless you would enjoy watching me wash these jeans.”
“Better yet, how about I take you out and we get to know each other before I quit football and take up fucking you full time?”
Who could laugh at a time like this? But he still did. He hugged that big, muscular frame tight and rubbed his cock against Jamal’s huge bulge until they were both gasping. “No. No, I think you better write the resignation letter.”
“Deal. But I could take us out for root beer floats first.”
Trevor stopped. “I love root beer.”
Jamal held him still, their cocks still squashed in bliss. “You’re kidding. No one likes root beer but me.”
“I do. It’s my favorite.”
“There’s this diner—”
“Okay, fuck sex. I need a root beer float and a hamburger.”

Freaky Friday w/LM Brown

It's Freaky Friday! And you know what that means....
The Purple Fantasy Den has once again been taken hostage by a fellow author to have their way with. And today's kidnapper is none other than LM Brown who is here to talk about the end of her Heavenly Sins trilogy: Between Life & Death.
So here she is... LM!
-backs up, hands raised- Okay, okay. I'm going.

Hello everyone. First of all, thank you for having me here today to talk about the final book in my Heavenly Sins trilogy. It has been a long time in coming, but it is finally available for those who want to read the conclusion of Tristan, Mac and Alastor’s story.
First of all, I have to warn that this blog post contains spoilers for the previous two books in the series. I’m sorry, I do try to avoid putting spoilers in my blog posts, but for this book there is very little I can say about it that won’t reveal at least one spoiler. It won’t reveal any major spoilers for the final instalment of the trilogy however.
Today I am going to talk a little about some of the research I did when creating my world of angels and demons and give you a few little facts that you may not have known about my characters and world that never made it into the books.
First of all, the angels. Although they are not all shown, I decided to go the traditional route when it came to the archangels and that is why there are fifteen of them. Now, I was going to include a link to the main angels site I used for a lot of my research, but when I went there today it was sadly gone. I will link to some others below.
First of all Raphael. Did you know he was the archangel of healing? This is why he was chosen to be Mac’s mentor since Mac is, as those who have read the series so far will know, a healer himself. It was Mac’s vocation in life and he continues to heal after becoming an angel.
Raphael is also the patron of Guardian Angels, something which comes into play in Between Life & Death.
He is also, in my series at least, an angel who makes mistakes, and who proves that even angels sometimes get things wrong.
The other archangel who plays a pivotal role in the series is Michael. The sometimes disputed leader of the archangels, in my series he is very much the leader, although he does not tend to throw his weight around too much. He presides of patience, mercy, motivation and repentance – amongst other things – which as readers will discover, is again, rather fitting for him.
Finally there is Machidiel (Mac) himself. Machidiel was the angel of courage – and no one who has read the first book in my series can surely doubt my Mac’s courage. The original Machidiel’s main task was to help people who lack the necessary courage to express their love to others. Hmm, Alastor perhaps?
The angels weren’t the only ones I went to some lengths to research when it came to the names and personalities of the characters in my stories.
First some of the secondary characters.
Nybbas – whose name I can never spell – my fingers always want to type Nybaas for some reason – is a demon who is said to manage visions and dreams. This obviously plays a huge part in the second instalment of the Heavenly Sins series. That is where the similarities between my Nybbas and the original end though.
Alastor’s maker had a name change when the series was re-released. He is now Aka Manah. The reason behind this was because when I began the series I did not see him playing such a large role in the series. He was merely going to be mentioned. Unfortunately, pushy characters are the bane of my life and he insisted on a larger role. The meaning of his new name has various translations, most of which are similar to “evil mind”, “evil thinking” etc. As a master manipulator of the mind, it seemed quite fitting.
Lawrence is not a demonic name. He is the lowest of the low and not one of the original demons. Like Tristan he was made into a demon by another incubus. He takes any name that will let him fit into the place where he is preying on his victims. He would no doubt find it amusing that he has taken a Saint’s name – albeit with a modern spelling.
Irdu Lili and Ardat Lili were the names of an Incubus and Succubus, and are often portrayed as part of a trio of demons. For the purposes of my series I stuck to just the two of them. I did take liberty with their descriptions and personalities for the purpose of the story.
The parade of demons who come to pay homage to Tristan at the start of Between Life & Death are all demons I ran across while online. When it comes to descriptions I have tried to stick to the research when it comes to these, though, like the angels, I might have taken a few liberties when it came to personalities.
Lucifer – better not forget him – should be fairly obviously the most famous demon of all. For the purposes of my story I have stuck with the classic history for him, in that he was a fallen angel. Whether a third of the angels fell with him to become the rest of the demon army, is left open for the readers to decide, or not, since it isn’t really important to this particular story.
Finally, there is Alastor himself. The demon Alastor has its origins in both Roman and Greek mythology. I took a small amount of the myths from each to create my Alastor. My Alastor, like the Greek version was once mortal. In the Roman mythology Alastor was the evil genius of the household and incited people to commit sins including murder.
Of all the characters in the trilogy, Mac and Alastor are definitely the two who I have taken the most liberties with when it comes to their characters compared to those they are based upon.
I hope you enjoy my take on the world of angels and demons, and that you have enjoyed reading a little (or a lot since this got quite long) about the research that went into creating the Heavenly Sins trilogy.

And – of course – Wikipedia which is sometimes my second home.

With one of his lovers imprisoned in the Underworld, Mac has no choice except to go where most angels fear to tread.
With Tristan imprisoned in the Underworld, the ménage is broken. Angels are forbidden to enter the demonic domain and while Mac has been breaking rules in recent months, he doesn’t have the power to enter the Underworld.
Alastor is still unsure about his position in the relationship following recent revelations, but he cannot walk away when he is the only real link between his two lovers. Splitting his time between Mac and Tristan, he hopes they can soon find a way to reunite the two men in his life.
As time moves on, Alastor realizes he is struggling to satisfy Tristan’s thirst for sex. His lover needs more than he can give him and craves Mac in his bed.
Mac still believes he can complete his mission to save his two lovers, but with one of them out of his reach, it is going to be far from easy.
During their time together they have made plenty of enemies, including one who would seek to separate them forever, even if it means biding his time until Alastor and Tristan are at their most vulnerable, when even the love of an angel can’t save them.
Excerpt
Lucifer continued to poke around the room while Tristan did his best to ignore him. Eventually he stepped into the path of the demon and glared at him. “Are you done?”
“You really shouldn’t be so rude to me,” Lucifer chided. “I’m here to help you.”
“Help me?” Tristan shook his head and rolled his eyes. “Help me, he says.”
“Who else is suitably qualified to guide you through your first days as our new king?”
“What makes you think I need your help?”
Lucifer smiled, clearly unfazed by Tristan’s attitude. “Even now the throne room is filling up with the leaders of each of the factions of demons, all here to bow down before you and swear their loyalty.”
“You’re joking.”
“Well, most of them will probably want to kill you and take your place, if truth be told, but they generally wait until after the banquet is over.”
Tristan dropped into one of the soft leather chairs. “This is going to be a disaster.”
“Not if you let me guide you.”
“Why are you so keen to help me? What difference does it make to you who’s king?”
“I don’t care who sits on the throne, but I do like to ensure our new kings are settled in as soon as possible. That way I can turn my attention back to more pleasurable activities.”
Tristan cast a glance toward the wall where the entrance to his rooms had been. “How do I even get out into the throne room again?”
“Just walk toward the entrance and imagine the doorway opening for you.”
Tristan took a step forward and the entrance began to form. The most powerful demons in the Underworld congregated just on the other side of the wall. Shit!

Vic's Birthday eXXXtravaganza Final Post and Winner Announcement

Over the past few weeks I’ve had a lot of really great posts from a lot of my author friends. They’ve shared their favorite birthday memories, excerpts from books and given us exclusive birthday ficlets. Tonight I’m going to be choosing the winner of the BIG Birthday eXXXtravaganza giveaway, but before I do, I figured I would do my own post. Especially since… hey, it is technically Vicktor Alexander’s Birthday eXXXtravaganza.
I could talk about my favorite birthday memory, but honestly? I didn’t have many growing up. There were birthday parties where I was forgotten because my friends were drooling over my uncle, D (I have to admit, he’s hot), or birthday parties where only a handful showed up because my arch nemesis threw a party on the same night (yes, I had one of those when I was a teenager-I believe these days they call them “haters”). I could even talk about the birthday parties I went to for Angel, Justin, Ryan, or my friend A, where we snuck off to drink or where strippers showed up, much to their parents chagrin and we all had a grand ol’ time.
And you’ve all heard about this year’s birthday in Orlando with Taylor, Kiernan, her husband, and my friend, LaJoyce, so there’s no need to rehash that.
For the most part, my birthdays have run the gamut of the disappointing, to the hurtful, to the amazing, to the sublime, to the loving, and the “thank God no one called the cops on us Angel, you almost got us arrested, next time don’t moon a guy who looks like an undercover police officer.” But all-in-all, there is one theme that stays true for every birthday I’ve had since I was 12 years old. I ask people to donate to a charity instead of giving me gifts. It’s not that I don’t like receiving bags of candy corn (thank you to those of you who sent them to me) and it’s not that I’d spit in the faces of those who’d send me the dvd’s or Blu-rays of the TV shows or movies of my Top Ten Faves from my newsletter. I would never do that, but I would much rather have that money, no matter how small, tax and shipping included, sent to a worthy cause. And this year that cause is the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
I don’t talk about my personal life all that much. You all know that. I tell you all the happy happy things. You know about Angel and Justin because they are two of my best friends and I’ve known them since freshman year of high school. You all know that Justin passed away from AIDS because his passing affected me on a deep level and AIDS is a very serious level and that disease is something that we all need to be aware of, gay, straight, bi, transgender, etc. I have shared about Angel’s positive diagnosis after he and his husband gave me permission to do so because it is not my story to tell. But I don’t talk about my life much because you know me as Vicktor Alexander, the author. Sometimes I will share my struggles only because I want you to inevitably share in my triumphs.
And this is why I ask people to donate to charities for my birthday, Chanukah, and Christmas. Because we are all in this journey, this fight for life, equality, and love together. We walk with each other, we (hopefully) lift each other up so that while we share the present struggles, we can also celebrate in the future triumphs.
So, I hope that you all did, have, or will donate to the Elton John AIDS Foundation or some charitable organization this year, or just give of your time in some way. It’s the best birthday gift this gay boy could ask for.
And now, for a Birthday eXXXtravaganza EXCLUSIVE:

What Does One Purchase For A Duke When He Has Aged Another Year?
Lady Lucien Eddington, III, the new Duchess of Pompinshire lay one hand on his swollen belly and observed the gleaming sword displayed proudly before him by Lord Cummings, Earl of Storley. He knew absolutely nothing of making such a purchase and regretted immediately turning down both Yarborough and Whitcomb’s offer to accompany him to Storley’s manor, taking only a groom, his lady’s maid, and of course, Charlotte. Though taking along his sister was almost like taking along the full battalion of His Majesty’s Army.
“So, Your Grace… do the swords meet with your approval? I would be remiss in saying there have already been a number of other interested parties by just today to admire my maldy’s weaponry. Now, I would never attempt to sale to such a genteel lady such as yourself, but I know your husband and His Grace is a hero as is the Duke of Whitcomb and for this I will sell these to you.”
Lucien turned to look at Charlotte. His sister stared back at him and shook her head. Lucien spent much of his time with his head buried in books or with his daughter and his husband, he knew he was not well versed in the cunning ways of a trickster, which was why he had deigned to bring along his sister.
Charlotte spent most of her time at the side of her husband, Rourke, working in imports and exports of goods around the world, haggling prices and handling store owners, ship captains and sailors who thought she was a simpleton simply because she possessed a uterus.
Lucien turned back to the Earl of Storley and tilted his head to the side. He tapped his chin. “Apologies my lord, we seem to be at a bit of an impasse here. The amount you quoted me previously is just a bit too much for me to dull out of my allowance, even for His Grace. Perhaps you might send word to one of the other interested parties from earlier today and have them come and purchase these swords from you?”
“Your Grace…” Lord Cummings spoke up taking a step forward.“I do believe my husband has stated that he has no desire to do further business with you, Cummings. Perhaps it would be best for you to let him pass before I find myself in need of giving you a fencing lesson,” Heathcliff’s voice was low and came from the doorway to Lord Cummings’ study.
Lucien gasped and he spun to see Heathcliff leaning nonchalantly against the doorjamb, looking for all the world as if he were bored with the situation and as if he had not just threatened a peer of the realm.
“Y-yes, Your Grace.” Lord Cummings looked paler than normal and Lucien rushed across the room into Heathcliff’s awaiting arms.
He buried his neck in his husband’s neck and inhaled deeply. The smell of Heath inflamed his senses and Lucien felt himself grow hard at his man’s scent. Curse his infernal belly! How he longed to feel Heathcliff pressed all over him like they’d once been. Lucien would have sighed in disappointment but Heathcliff tilted Lucien’s head back and kissed him deeply. Lucien swayed into his husband and when the kiss was over he took his husband’s hand and allowed Heathcliff to lead him from Lord Cummings’ home.
When Lucien, Heathcliff, and Charlotte were safely ensconced in the carriage, Lucien felt Heathcliff’s eyes on him. He turned and offered his husband a tremulous smile.
“Yes, my love?”
“Have you taken leave of your senses, Luce?”
“No, Heath, I have not. But I must buy you a birthday gift! Don’t you see? It is our first year together as a married couple and I must get you the perfect gift. I have scoured the country. Had Wilhelmina send Ben and Bena off to find gifts and they have returned hat in hand, with nothing, and still I know not what to give you. I am distraught.” Lucien sighed in disgust.
Heathcliff chuckled and pulled Lucien into his arms. “Oh, love. You are quite possibly the most intelligent woman in all of Angland. Nay, all the world.”
Charlotte cleared her throat and Heathcliff raised his hand, “The only woman who is your equal is your sister, Charlotte.”
“Thank you, Your Grace.”
Heathcliff inclined his head. “You are most welcome, Lady McCalfrey.”
He turned back to Lucien. “Though you are extremely learned, you still underestimate your worth to me.” He captured Lucien’s face between the palms of his hands. “You have given me the most beautiful daughter in the world, we are expecting another child and you daily shower me with your love. There is naught in the world that I long for. If you want to give me the perfect gift for my birthday, all you have to do, is smile at me and I will once again count myself the luckiest man in all the world.”
Lucien sighed and shook his head at his husband. “Have I told you lately that I am so happy that you were chosen as my groom of convenience?”
Heathcliff laughed. “Why I do believe It has been an age my dear. Not since this morning has my ears heard such lovely prose from you.”
Lucien grinned. “Forgive me for being remiss in not saying so more often.” He leaned up and placed a kiss on Heathcliff’s lips. “Happy birthday, my duke. I love you.”
“And I love you as well.”

Vic's B-Day eXXXtravaganza w/Max Vos

Hello Everyone!!!
On November 16th I turned 31. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. Not necessarily turning 31, but my birthday. The reason for this is because my birthday brings up both good and bad memories for me (mostly bad, though the past few years have been good). I don't typically expect presents for my birthday (though I did up until the age of 12 and then after that my present requests became extremely altruistic- "donate to a charity", I asked my mom to adopt me an African orphan when I was 12, etc.) but my birthday is the one day out of the year where I let others focus on me without putting up a fight. And this year, I was determined to have a good birthday.
Last year, I asked author friends to share their favorite birthday memories or short stories featuring some of their characters that were centered around birthdays of some sort, and this year I decided to do the same thing. For the next few weeks, author friends and even some non-author friends of mine, will be taking over The Purple Fantasy Den and posting.
And for those of you who you asked last year about sending me a birthday present, first of all, thank you, second of all: In lieu of presents, I'd love to have you donate to the Elton John AIDS Foundation in memory of my best friend Justin or for my friends Angel or Richard, or maybe even someone you know who is living with, and fighting the disease.
Oh! And by the way: One person who comments on every post will be chosen at the end of the eXXXtravaganza to receive a special birthday prize (swag, books, GC, etc.)
So, without further ado! Here's today's HILARIOUS post by my good friend and a fellow Floridian whom I've had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with:

What does one do for Vicktor Alexander’s birthday? Pfft… pretty much whatever you want from what I can tell.
After having the man sitting on my sofa, cracking politically incorrect jokes, calling a friend of mine ‘The whore of Babylon’, and keeping me laughing during one of the most stressful times of my life, who needs a birthday party. Life with Vic is a party unto itself.
We’ve talked about so much stuff and on so many subjects I can’t even remember it all. However, let me tell you, if you don’t already know, the man has a sick and twisted sense of humor. We actually had a conversation that lasted well over an hour about a pink sparkly dildo. I kid you not.
I’m really thinking that he has an anal obsession. Just this morning, over coffee, he described this whole scenario about Johnson & Johnson doing actual quality control checks on anal thermometers. Yep, he went there. Picture it: little subbies all lined up, bent over ready for their job, having some Domly-Dom going down the line sticking those things up their bums making sure they all work. Oh yeah, great coffee clutch conversation.
I do have to say though he is one of the cutest drunks I’ve ever seen. The more he drinks, the gayer he gets. One hand on his hip, the other waving around with a cigarette between his fingers, kind of reminded me of that puppeteer, Wayland and his puppet Madam. All Vic needed was the hair, feather boa and red lipstick. Think I’m lying? Oh hell no, that shit is on video! I see royalty shares in my future.
For those who didn’t know? The man is a total perv and a self-admitted cocksucker. He also has some stainless steel balls. I’m just sayin’. Who else do you know who would even dare to blow a go-go boy on top of a bar in public? No one I know. Oh yeah, he did it and even goes into great detail of doing it. Man has no shame.
Speaking of go-go boys, did you know he and I have a mutual interest? Yeah, I happen to like strippers and dancers as well. They amuse us. I mean what’s not to like? Pretty men, dancing around in nothing or next to nothing, keeping us entertained. The difference is I tend to keep my hands…and mouth… to myself. Okay, for the most part I do. The point is I think I found me a new partner in crime. Of course I’m going to be doubly amused by not only watching the performers but watching Vic make his move on those poor unsuspecting souls.
So back the original question: What does one do for Vicktor Alexander’s birthday? As long as it includes alcohol, naked or nearly naked men, good company and strawberry cake, it’s all good.
Is there anything off limits with Vic? If there is I haven’t found it, but I’m going to keep trying. Of course I’m kind of known for pushing people's buttons and seeing just where their limits are. Let me think… Nope. I’ve not found anything yet. I’ll keep at it though.

Max Vos is a classically trained chef with over 30 years of food service experience. After retiring in 2011, Max found himself with time on his hands and was urged to turn his talents to writing.
