Vic's Bday eXXXtravaganza w/ Charley Descoteaux

Hello Everyone!!!
On November 16th I turned 31. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. Not necessarily turning 31, but my birthday. The reason for this is because my birthday brings up both good and bad memories for me (mostly bad, though the past few years have been good). I don't typically expect presents for my birthday (though I did up until the age of 12 and then after that my present requests became extremely altruistic- "donate to a charity", I asked my mom to adopt me an African orphan when I was 12, etc.) but my birthday is the one day out of the year where I let others focus on me without putting up a fight. And this year, I was determined to have a good birthday.
Last year, I asked author friends to share their favorite birthday memories or short stories featuring some of their characters that were centered around birthdays of some sort, and this year I decided to do the same thing. For the next few weeks, author friends and even some non-author friends of mine, will be taking over The Purple Fantasy Den and posting.
And for those of you who you asked last year about sending me a birthday present, first of all, thank you, second of all: In lieu of presents, I'd love to have you donate to the Elton John AIDS Foundation in memory of my best friend Justin or for my friends Angel or Richard, or maybe even someone you know who is living with, and fighting the disease.
Oh! And by the way: One person who comments on every post will be chosen at the end of the eXXXtravaganza to receive a special birthday prize (swag, books, GC, etc.)

So, without further ado! Here's today's post by:

First, Happy Birthday, Vicktor! Thanks so much for inviting me to your party. I hope you have an amazing birthday bash!

The year I turned 29 I had a gifted seven year-old on my hands, worked ¾ time at a newspaper, lived in a very small town, and was married. I also had an epiphany. After I put the kid to bed, I realized that in a year I’d be 30. (That seemed pretty old to me back then.) I got all pondery, and thought about what I’d accomplished in my 29 years on the planet—besides the kid I didn’t come up with a lot.
Earlier that week I was chatting with a friend and told her I’d always wanted to learn to play the piano. We agreed it would probably take about a decade to get good at a complex instrument like that, considering jobs and families and Tai Kwon Do and grocery shopping and laundry… and then she said, “But those ten years will go by whether you learn to play the piano or not.”
It seems like a no-brainer, but I’d never thought of it that way before. I’d been telling stories since I was a little kid, even wrote some of them down. But serious writing—with the goal of being published—had always been something I would do “someday” (whenever that is).
So, on my 29thbirthday, I declared it “someday.” I told myself I only had to stick with it for a year, just to see what would happen. What happened was, I got hooked. And now 20 years has gone by!
It took two years before my first short story was accepted by a literary magazine—back when we had to send printed copies, and FedEx galleys across the country like cave people. It’s much easier now, and since I’m all about the instant gratification, it’s also way more fun!
I know I’m not alone in that instant-gratification thing, so I’m giving away an ebook copy of my newest release, The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds, to a random commenter.
In the comments, I’d love it if you talked about how you’re answering Vicktor’s challenge to donate to a charity. I’m a life-long volunteer and love to support my favorite charities however I can. This year, I gave the money I would’ve spent on a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to my local food bank. It wasn’t a whole lot, but it sure felt good.
Now you!

All he ever wanted was to be a normal guy….
Phil Brask spends his days in the basement of his mentor's Victorian home, converting legal documents into electronic format. When the pipe feeding the water heater bursts, Lee Redding arrives in the plumber’s truck and draws Phil away from the narrow focus of his computer and camera lens. Lee gives Phil hope for a life beyond the walls he’s constructed using the nesting habits of migratory birds and dense legal files, a guided tour through a world filled with romance and music…maybe even family. But there’s a reason Phil retreated behind those walls, why he panics at a simple touch.
Lee has a good life—working with his uncle and on his mother’s farm, playing bass in a horrible metal band, and hooking up when he pleases—but he’s always suspected something was missing. When he meets the hot photographer with the icy-blue eyes, he knows exactly what that something is. Phil isn’t like other guys, but neither is Lee beneath his carefree exterior. Maybe Lee's the perfect guy to show Phil that everything doesn’t have to be done the hard way and "home" isn't a four-letter word.

So, without further ado! Here's today's post by the beautiful:

Happy birthday Vicktor! I’m so excited to be a part of Vick’s birthday eXXXtravaganza again this year. This year I’ve got a scene with the characters from my upcoming book. The book won’t be out until around the beginning of the year, however Cole and Perry are such fun characters I figured I’d give you a scene with those characters. The scene won’t be in the book so you can only read it here on Vicktor’s blog for his birthday. Here is my (unedited) scene with Cole and Perry.

It was Perry’s birthday and Cole couldn’t wait to give him the present he got. He hoped Perry liked it. However it was too late to get nervous since it was wrapped and ready to go. The cake was in the kitchen, the candles were already on the cake waiting to be lit. The only thing missing was the birthday boy.The sound of keys in the door brought Cole out of the living room. He greeted Cole with a huge smile on his face.
“Happy birthday Perry.”
Cole could tell Perry was tired. It was a good thing they hadn’t planned on going out to dinner. Perry might have fallen asleep in his salad if they had. Perry put on a brave face though and tried to smile despite his exhaustion.
“Thank you baby. I know you’ve got some things planned, but I hope it doesn’t take too long. I would love to go to sleep soon.”
Taking Perry’s briefcase from him, Cole steered him out of the entryway and into the kitchen.
“I promise it won’t take long. You’re going to sit right here and open your present. Then have some cake. Once we’re all done with the cake I’m going to give you a massage to relax you so you can fall asleep easily. How does that sound?”
Perry was nodding as he flopped into the kitchen chair Cole had pulled out. His poor boyfriend had been working hard lately. He deserved a little fun on his special day.
“It sounds perfect Cole. Thanks for being so understanding. Maybe this weekend you can take me out to my favorite restaurant.”
Cole presented the wrapped packages with a flourish in front of Perry.
“You know I will. Now, open the present. I’m hoping you like it.”Perry fingered the green ribbon on the silver wrapping paper. Cole picked it to match Perry’s eyes. He knew he’d picked right by the smile curling the edges of Perry’s mouth. In a flurry of movements the package went from wrapped to open in no time flat. Cole got nervous when he just sat there staring at the votive holders he had engraved.
“They’re perfect,” Perry whispered, not taking his eyes off them.Cole placed his hand on Perry’s shoulder and squeezed. He could feel the tight muscles under his hand. Perry was long overdue for a massage.
“Now it’s time for cake. I only put a few candles on the cake. There was no way I could find enough candles to put the real number on there.”
Cole stepped out of reach from Perry’s half-hearted swipe. They both chuckled as Cole got everything ready.
Once the candles were lit he turned and sang happy birthday to Perry. He had trouble containing his laughter. Perry was going to laugh once he realized what he did.
“Make a wish Perry.”
Perry smiled up at Cole from his seated position before closing his eyes. With his eyes squeezed tight, Cole watched his moth move subtly. Then his eyes popped open and he took a huge breath. Perry blew out loud and long and all of the candles went out.
The shout of surprise as the candles came back to life set Cole into fits of laughter. Perry tried to blow the candles out again, but each one relit not long after being extinguished. Cole was laughing so hard his sides hurt by the time Perry gave up.
“You! Those stupid candles that keep lighting themselves. What am I going to do with you?”He tried to look irritated, but his lips pulling up at the corners gave him away. Cole stopped laughing and went around to Perry.
“All you have to do is love me. Just like I love you.”
Perry gathered Cole close where he was sitting and laid his head on Cole’s stomach. They stayed like that for a few precious moments, Cole stroking his hand down Perry’s neck and back while Perry rubbed his sides. Moving apart at the same time, Perry stood up and took hold of Cole’s hand.
“Let’s go upstairs and put my ‘Massage Time’ candles to good use. What do you say?”
Cole could only nod as he was pulled away. He was glad the prank candles could bring a smile to Perry’s face.

Who doesn’t like a good prank on their birthday? Cole and Perry like to have fun and they get into some interesting situations. If you’ve never seen the candles that don’t blow out, I found a video of some guy pulling the same prank on his wife.

Birthday Memories
Happy Birthday to Vicktor, happy birthday to you! Thanks for letting me play. Hmm, my best birthday memory. Oh, there have been a few and since my birthday is in December, it’s an easy excuse to party harder than usual. Anyways, one of the for− Ahem… One of mine was very memorable. We went to Boystown for my birthday. Being in the windy city, it was cold as hell outside, but not enough to forego plenty of libations and beautiful sights of hot gay men. This was an all girl’s night too so there were no men in attendance. My girls and I made it a no-driving night, so we took a cab and barhopped between three clubs; Spin, Roscoe’s, and Berlin and the best part, we didn’t start until after ten. We hit Spin first, did jello shots and danced for an hour or so before heading to Roscoe’s. For those who haven’t been, Roscoe’s is small, kind of cramped, especially in the front. The only wide open space is the dance floor which on this night was packed with plenty of cuties drinking and humping on one another. A m/m authors dream is to be in Roscoe’s and be a witness to all the naughtiness going on against walls and in corners. *sighs*Ahem, so last we went to Berlin. Berlin is a Boystown staple for everyone to enjoy themselves. Since it was a Saturday, the place was packed like Roscoe’s, but Berlin is a tad bigger. By this time, everyone was feeling more than good and we ended the night with a couple more mixed drinks and dancing until the bar closed at five a.m. We ended my birthday bash with cheap eats at a local taco hangout then crashed at my friend’s apartment. Though I added a year on to my age, it was one of the most enjoyable evenings I’ve had and I look back on it with fondness. These days, most of my birthdays are spent at home with the kids, which is cool too especially since my youngest’ birthday is three days after mine. Even though I’m, ahem, much older now, I still like to have fun but I don’t think anything will top that birthday spent in Boystown.

So, without further ado! Here's today's post by my handsome friend:

Thank you, Vic, for inviting me to be a part of your Birthday Exxxtravaganza! Happy Birthday!  In addition to my post below, I am sponsoring an e-book giveaway of my latest book release, Drag Show Games (Drag Show 1).  To be entered into the drawing e-mail me at: [email protected]. The subject line should read:  Birthday Exxxtravaganza Contest. International participants are also welcome to enter.  One winner will be chosen at random at 7:00 PM CST, the day after this post appears.  The following is an adaption of an original post I wrote January 5, 2013 on my Website as part of my Life With Baby Doll series.  Each year, as John’s birthday approaches, I am reminded of the promise I made him over two decades ago.

  ****
John’s Birthday Promise by Andrew Jericho
January 5, 2013“Are you going to be nice to me today?” John asked, giggling.“Baby Doll, that depends on what your definition of nice is?” I replied.Pulling John closer into my arms, I wrapped the comforter around our bodies.“Warm enough, honey?”  I asked.“I love you, Andrew.”“I love you, too, baby.  Happy Birthday.”
****
The conversation above took place between John and I this morning, as he woke cuddled in my arms.  Today my soul mate, lover, partner, and best friend celebrates his forty-ninth birthday.  For the last twenty-two years, Baby Doll has asked me a similar question on that day.  While I know his words are playful, they return me to a promise I made him in 1992.The years have been kind to John, as he is frequently complimented.  His sweet, slender, and flamboyant appearance certainly captured my heart. I’ve shared the following words before on the romantic dynamic we share:“The type of gay male I desired:  sweet, campy, flamboyant, and with such an undeniably homosexual vibe walked into my heart and left an overwhelming need to protect and provide for him as his lover.” I met Baby Doll when I was seventeen. At that time, I was suicidal, depressed, and angry.  I was also a young man with a rotten and prideful attitude. While meeting John that late summer afternoon did soften my mood and heart, I would go on to have a few more episodes of angry outbursts. The behavior I exhibited was strongly related to my gender dysphoria. While I still struggle with dysphoria, as a man of forty, I have learned more constructive channels for my feelings.  On January 4th, 1992, one day before John’s twenty-seventh birthday, I found myself loudly ranting to the handsome twink standing on the opposite side of our bathroom door.Baby Doll and I had been living together since early November, 1991, having been committed since the first night we kissed. However, we did not experience sexual intimacy together until March, 1992.  During the months before we made love, John and I kissed, cuddled, and slept in the same bed together.  I have defined our relationship during that time as romantic friends, spiraling towards becoming passionate lovers. My rant on January 4th, was brought about by a passionate afternoon tryst which had quickly become charged with unexplored passions.John was curled in my arms on our bed, as we woke from an afternoon nap. An innocent joining of lips quickly turned to myself initiating a series of slow, and sensual, French kisses.  Baby Doll’s soft whimpers only fueled my desire.  We had been passionate before, but this time I knew we were quickly losing ourselves in the emotional and physical attraction which had been smoldering for months.Looking back, I don’t think either one of intended for the situation to become as intimate as it had. We had set a date of March 21st to formalize out commitment, which also included waiting to make love. That afternoon two hearts were speaking to each other, as a pair of bodies experienced raw, sexual arousal. As the dominant one in the relationship, I should have quickly ended the affection. Instead I rolled him onto his back, and continued our lingual caresses. John was hard against me. At that point, I remembered such a strong feeling of gender dysphoria gripping my soul.  Baby Doll was flushed, trembling, and whispered in my ear words any dominant gay male would want to hear from his partner.  I love you, Andrew, and I want you inside me.  He uttered other words of love and sexuality—private personal, sentiments.I wanted to be inside him. My thoughts were already there, as I visualized myself making love to him with biological male genitals. However, the assigned female at birth body which I found myself in had grown violently angry.  To make matters worse, I hadn’t bought a strap-on yet either.  I would do that one week before formalizing our commitment on March 21, 1992.Being the jerk I was, I abruptly ended the moment, loudly slamming the bathroom door. There were other masculine ways I could have pleased my partner that afternoon, and still remained in control, but I wanted to do it with a penis—my penis.  My actions resulted in John knocking softly on the bathroom door.
****
“Go away, John!” I yelled.“Andrew—”“I said, go away!”“No. We need to talk.” I could hear John turning the locked door knob.  “I don’t need to talk! I need a penis!  Now get away from the door!”“I’ve know from the moment we met that you’ve identified as a very masculine transman. Andrew, I’ve told you so many times that all guys, even cisgender, are different. I love the heart and mind of a man first.  I love yours first.  What happens sexually is second.  I’ve never thought of you as anything but a man. Andrew, you’re more a man that any I’ve ever been involved with.”“Alright, Baby Doll, if that’s what you want to believe!  I just don’t see how a cisgender gay man like yourself could ever be in love with a transman!  After all, I am missing one important part! I think you’re confused and don’t know what you want!  Get away from the door!”“Andrew,” John spoke sweetly, “you just haven’t bought yours yet, have you?”
****I would spend another hour in the bathroom in anger and self-pity, trying to deny the fact it was the flamboyant gay baby who was right and rescuing me again.  How often?  Well as I’ve said before, I’ll just keep those numbers a secret, as I wouldn’t want to destroy my top status. When I finally opened the door, he was sitting right outside, with his back against the wall.
****
“Are you going to be nice to me now?” John asked. “Maybe.” “No, Andrew, you have to promise.”   John had stood up, and was swaying slightly from side to side.  I think he even fluttered his eyelashes a few times. “Also, you have to quit saying that I don’t love you.  I love you, Andrew.  I know what I want…you.  Andrew, you’re my man.”“I promise.”
****
The two simple words I spoke that afternoon have become known as John’s birthday promise.  That was the last of the violent angry outbursts I can remember. Feeling his emotional and sexual response to me that afternoon, and the heartfelt words spoken on the opposite side of the bathroom door, had finally healed years of hurt.  I would learn how to put negativity to rest.  The love and sincerity being offered to me was too strong to fight. While I had heard John’s words emotionally, two-and-a-half months later, I would physically experience John’s response as I remember looking down into his deep bedroom-blue eyes:“The first time we made love was the coupling of a mutual peace and passion which sought to not only define me as an emotional being, but sexually as well.  That same comfort and warmth has not been forgot, and continues long past the first time two pairs of hands sought out the intimacy of their soul mates.”
“Happy Birthday, Baby Doll.  Honey, you should know by now I can’t fight my feelings for you.”  ~ Love, Andrew

Drag Show Games (Drag Show 1) by Andrew Jericho
Blurb:  [Ménage Amour ManLove: Erotic Alternative Ménage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, HEA]In an entertainment routine called Drag Show, Vince becomes Violet Whispers. Vince is a gay man, who not only craves cross-dressing, but it gives him sexual pleasure to see Violet staring back in a mirror. Even more satisfying is being in the arms of a man while in drag. Derek fulfills those fantasies.Derek is a dominant man who orchestrates erotic scenarios, or games. The thought of never knowing what Derek has planned keeps Vince in almost constant arousal. So when Derek uses his twin brother, Alec, in one of his scenarios, Vince must come to terms with new romantic feelings for his partner’s brother. When Alec becomes a part of their lives on a more permanent basis, Vince struggles with acknowledging his love for his partner’s brother. Alec is bold, like Derek, but more soft-spoken. Even though Vince knows Derek wants him to follow his heart, he is afraid of allowing another man into his life. Note: The first two chapters were originally published as a free short story on ManLoveAuthors.com.A Siren Erotic Romance
Adult Excerpt:Alec was behind Vince’s body, pressing himself against his partner’s back. Derek was standing in front of Vince. He listened to the soft sounds of his brother kissing their husband.“We both love you, Vince,” Derek said. “Alec and I want you to open up. Surrender your heart. Baby, I don’t want you to think about who’s touching you. I just want you to feel the love in the two pairs of hands cooling your arousal. Shh…don’t say a word.”Alec imagined Derek had placed a finger on Vince’s mouth, because the rest of the game was beginning to unfold. Then all went quiet, as Alec silently traded places with his brother. Vince was oblivious to the change, and would not know whose hands were touching different parts of his body. When Vince whimpered, Alec dropped to his knees, pulling up the cocktail dress. He shoved the fabric around his lover’s waist. In the dark, he pulled Vince’s spandex shorts away from his body. He removed what felt like a lacy thong, as Vince’s cock came untucked. He heard another moan, as he took the length of his partner’s shaft into his mouth.Alec heard Derek’s voice, barely above a whisper. The intent was to disguise the sound so Vince could not recognize him. “I’ve got my fingers buried deep inside your ass.”“Please let me know which one of you is sucking me. Damn, it feels so good! God, it feels so damn, good!”Alec wrapped his hands around Vince’s body, caressing his lover’s buttocks. He felt Vince’s flesh being pulled apart by his brother’s hands.Derek was whispering again. “Now I’m going to find your sweet spot, Violet Whispers. Hmm…are you going to tell me where I can find it?”“Fuck! Fuck! God, your fingers feel so good…and the lips wrapped around my cock!” Vince spoke, as his words faded to a sensual groan.Vince’s hands on the back of Alec’s neck were pulling him deeper. He let the heat of his mouth envelope the swollen flesh, as he felt the entire shaft pulsating. Vince was close, real close. Alec picked up the pace, sucking firmly from base to tip, licking the pre-cum that continued to form on Vince’s cockhead. The taste was salty and sweet. Vince’s dick was buried so deep inside his mouth the tip was rubbing against the back of his throat.“Such a beautiful and naughty queen,” Derek whispered. “Letting two brothers take you like this.”
“My prostate,” Vince moaned. “Oh, god, don’t stop! Hell, please don’t stop!”“We love you, Violet,” Derek spoke in the same hushed tone.“Yes, Violet, we do,” Alec whispered, taking Vince’s cock from his mouth for just a split second. The game was meant for Vince, but Alec knew both he and Derek were just as aroused. He heard the excitement in all three of their voices. Alec’s cock was rock hard, straining against the boxers inside his slacks.“Brother, let’s finish him,” Derek said.“Shit,” Vince cried, “so many fucking fingers inside me!”“Four, and you’re still fucking tight!” Derek replied.Alec felt Vince’s body beginning to tremble. He cupped his lover’s buttocks tighter, kneading the flesh beneath his fingertips. Vince’s semen was now coating the inside of his mouth. Alec felt the motions of Derek pumping his fingers inside their husband, as the action continued to push Vince deeper into his mouth.Vince was whimpering, still trembling in their arms. Alec got up and cradled him against his chest, while Derek wrapped his arms around Vince’s back.“Please tell me,” Vince pleaded. “I want to know.”“No,” Alec whispered. “Fuck! I’m going to break the rules.”Derek had said neither one of them should seek release. Alec hoped his brother wouldn’t mind he was unbuckling his pants. His cock ached. He was past aroused, and knew he could not wait until he got Vince home.“Break the rules, brother,” Derek whispered, “because I am. Are you going first?”“Yeah,” Alec replied.Alec let his slacks fall to his ankles. Then he turned Vince’s body around. Now his partner’s buttocks were pressed against his dick. He sank his swollen cock into Vince’s ass. The cavity was warm and slick from his brother’s fingers. Vince’s body was bent slightly forward, no doubt leaning against Derek for support. After a few thrusts of his hips, sending his dick as far up into Vince as humanly possible, Alec felt the rush of semen leaving his cockhead. The juice bathed his lover’s internal flesh.
“I love you,” Alec whispered. “I love you so much, Vince.”“I love you, too,” Vince replied. “I love both of you…with all my heart.”Alec quickly pulled out, allowing Derek to turn their husband around. He supported Vince’s body, as his brother now made love to their partner.“I love you, too,” Vince spoke again. “So damn much. Please, tell me who’s inside my ass.”“We’re both here,” Alec spoke softly. “That’s all that matters. Trust us, Vince.”“So tight,” Derek murmured. While Alec continued to support Vince’s body against his own, he could feel the gentle rocking motions of his brother’s lovemaking. Damn, if that ‘blinding need for release’ Derek had mentioned wasn’t turning to a tenderness overtaking Alec’s heart. He pressed his lips against Vince’s mouth.“I love you,” Alec whispered. “I’ve always loved you.”“Alec,” Vince moaned.“Yeah, Vincent, it’s me.”“What about the game?” Vince asked.“Baby, don’t worry about the game,” Derek said. “We’ve almost accomplished what you need.”“Derek, you feel good inside me. I’m so in love with you. Fuck me! Fuck me hard!”

Vic's BDay eXXXtravaganza w/ Z Allora

Greetings!!!! Happy Birthday to Vicktor and all the other Scorpios out there!!!!
Whether by destiny or influence of someone saying you’re like this because of your zodiac sign, your birthdate is important. I believe it may affect how some of us develop or justify our behavior. All my characters have birthdays and I use their signs to shape some of their personalities. It’s one more way to make the characters unique as they come to life.
Since Vicktor & I share the Scorpio sign it won’t be a shock to him that Scorpios are the sex sign. (cue the porn music) Several of my sexually expressive characters just happen to be Scorpios. Take a look at where your favorite characters fall:

When I lived in China, Chinese Zodiac signs were always a safe topic, so it made sense when I was writingMade in China to be concerned with Chinese Zodiac signs and how they are used to understand people.

Here’s an excerpt from Made in China: The Great Wall.
Tian Di glided back through the double doors. Turning to their new singer, Jin asked, “What animal were you born under, Tian Di?”
“Trying to figure out my age?” He batted his eyelashes feigning an innocence everyone knew had been lost long ago.
“No, just curious. I’m an Earth Dragon and Styx is an Earth Snake,” Jin said.
Tian Di shrugged. “That’s why we get along. I’m an Earth Dragon too.”
Styx wanted to figure it out. “What’s your Western sign?”
“Scorpio.”
Indigo flitted back in and snorted. “You’re a Scorpio? Me too.” He handed Styx and Jin plates to their order. Indigo and the two of them marched their trays out of the kitchen with their last orders before the set, Tian Di close on their heels.
As they walked back to the kitchen Jin whispered to Styx, “That’s it. When two Scorpios get together they either fight or mate.”
“Well, those two don’t look like mating is in their future. Too much is at stake. Let’s try to get them to fight nice.”

Vic's Birthday eXXXtravaganza w/B A Tortuga

Firstly, happiest of birthdays to Vic. I wish you nothing but joy, honey.
Nextly, birthdays.
Birthdays.
Am I still having those? I’m fairly sure I stopped…
Grins
So, my favorite birthday-related memory doesn’t have a goddamn thing to do with my birthday. It has to do with Miss Julia’s.
You see, we got married on J’s birthday this year. I tell her (and everyone we meet) it’s because I know she won’t forget the date, but that’s just a happy tease. We chose the date because fifteens are important in our lives. We met on January 15. We hooked up on July 15. We started our business on September 15. We were engaged on an August 15. June 15 seemed like the perfect day.
The neat part?
It was.
We celebrated J’s birthday early – I bought her a pair of carved lovebirds. We had a lazy breakfast, ran out to buy a couple of plants and some bottles of water for the wee reception (every convenience store in town was out of ice O.o). Then we came home, relaxed, dressed and grabbed the iPod and headed out. Sean Michael had sent flowers, there were rainbow iced, gluten-free cupcakes, and we were in flip flops.
There was no stress. We laughed all the way to the altar. “The Cowboy in Me” was my song to her; she sang “Heaven” to me, and we ended with “Til My Last Day” and “Happy Birthday”. The minister and her wife, Nan, officiated. There were hugs, rings, tears, laughter, lukewarm water, rose petals and it was perfect.
After the ceremony, we went to let the dogs out and decided to grab some Indian food.
I asked my girl as we sat on the sofa and watched “Sherlock” if it had been a decent birthday. Her answer?
“Unforgettable.”
;-)

I’m offering a signed copy of my latest release to celebrate Vicktor’s birthday. I’m so proud of this book I could just bust.

Official Blurb:
Jenson has loved Mike his whole life, but he has never known how to tell Mike how he feels. After high school Mike leaves for college and his Hollywood dream, while cowboy Jenson stays behind in their small East Texas hometown. When the universe gives them one final chance, Jenson must overcome his fear and say the most important something before it's too late.

I wish to thank Vicktor for two things – one for inviting me to be on his blog, and secondly for having a birthday!  *wink*
Happy birthday, Vicktor! I hope you have an absolute ball with your birthday celebrations.  I hope all of your dreams come to fruition.  I hope all of your wishes begin to sparkle brightly.
As a special birthday celebration, I’ve written you a short story – a continuation of Hank and Elliot’s story, from my novel The Shearing Gun.  This is a reminder that the best presents are not always something you can buy in a shop.
I urge everyone to think about giving, and not just money.  Donations of blood are always needed, as are food items for food banks and second hand clothing for not-for-profit organisations. Perhaps sending an eCard to a soldier this Christmas as a thank you.  Spread the love, donate to the next charity that asks you, and donate without regret.  Happy birthday, Vicktor.

The Shearing Gun’s birthday present The invitation came unexpectedly through the mail.  I didn’t see it for hours, stuck between the letters from the bank and Elliot’s medical insurance.  I’d been into town to grab some drenching fluid for the stock, and some wormer for the chooks, so I popped in to the post office to pick up the mail.“Hey, Denise,” I greeted the woman behind the counter.  She was serving old Mrs. Mackay, and smiled in my direction before yelling loudly to the elderly woman, “That’ll be sixteen dollars and forty cents.”  Mrs. Mackay nodded and pulled out some money.  With her parcel paid for, she turned and saw me.“Hank Woods,” she greeted me with a smile.  The woman was shrivelled in size and walked very slowly with an arthritic limp.  She used to play the organ at the local Baptist church until her fingers could no longer keep up.  I knew that she was a fixture in the community and especially at her church.  Every single fete the church had, she was there, behind a pile of brightly-coloured crocheted blankets and baby booties.  I gulped.  Even though in the months since I’d been “outed” I’d received a lot of positive support from most sections of our community, I’d yet to run the gauntlet of “the church elders.”  What would she think about Elliot moving in with me?  What would she think about our “gay lifestyle”?“I just want to say thank you, Hank,” she told me, poking a crooked finger into my forearm.  “Huh?  What?” I stammered.  What happened to the God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve speech?“I want to thank you for making that lovely young doctor stick around.  He’s brilliant.  He’s got me on these new tablets that make me feel twenty again. I’d been trying to hook him up with some of the young ladies in town.  I didn’t realise he had a thing for the boys.  So I’m glad you’ve snapped him up and installed him in your bedroom.  We need some fresh young blood out here.  So, well done.”I was still blinking rapidly and staring at Denise in shock when the door slammed behind her, leaving Denise giggling like mad and me unsure as to what just happened.I grabbed my mail and left, bemused and shocked in a way that didn’t wear off for a while.Elliot was the first to notice the invitation several hours later.  “What’s this?” he asked as I mashed the potatoes for our dinner.“I dunno,” I replied.  “You’re the one looking at it.  I’m over here slaving in the kitchen to feed you.”  I pulled the plates out of the cupboard and heaped on them our steaks, mashed potato, roasted pumpkin and boiled beans.  I was vaguely aware of Elliot tearing open an envelope and reading it.“It’s an invitation,” he declared.“To what?”“Jimmie’s birthday.”“Jimmie has a birthday?”  I was surprised.  I’d never seen him celebrate one before.Elliot gave me a look of disgust as I placed the meal on the table.  “Of course he does.  But he’s having a party this year.  It’s his fiftieth.  The party’s on New Year’s Eve and we’re invited.”“Oh.”I looked down at my meal and tried to hide my expression.  I still wasn’t comfortable with the whole “out and proud” concept of being gay.  For most of my life I’d been hiding in the closet.  Even during the years I lived with Uncle Murray and his partner Jimmie, I’d hidden.  Most of their friends didn’t realise I was gay, and those that did, respected my deep closet by never mentioning it.But attending a birthday party with my boyfriend would be a statement that I didn’t know if I was ready to admit to.  I didn’t think there was anything wrong with being gay, I just didn’t want Jimmie’s friends to start talking hair and musicals with me.  Being outed didn’t mean that I had changed.“Will you be able to go?” I asked Elliot.  “Or will you be on call?”Being one of only two doctors in a small country town meant that Elliot was restricted to the times he could have off.  If he wasn’t able to leave town those days, I’d be able to attend solo and not have to admit to having a boyfriend back home.“Actually, yes,” Elliot replied.  “George and I were talking about it only this morning.  He wants to visit his daughter for Christmas.  We’ve agreed that I’ll have on call for that week and he’ll be back on the twenty-ninth. Therefore he’ll be able to cover New Years.  This is great.  I’d love to see Murray and Jimmie again.  What should we get him for a present?”With a sinking heart, I could see that this invitation meant a lot to Elliot.  I knew I was going to have to be brave and take a step out into the unknown.  Maybe with Elliot at my side, it might just be okay.
Murray and Jimmie had gone all-out with their party.  They hired the local yacht club for the evening, brought in decorators, and paid a fortune for wine and finger food.  We arrived on their doorstep at midday and found Jimmie in an absolute tizzy.  He fluttered from room to room, never sitting for more than five seconds, stressing about minor details of the party and texting the decorator a million times.“Oh!  It’s been three minutes.  Why hasn’t she messaged me back about the flowers and if she’d managed to get the pale yellow roses?”  Uncle Murray, obviously from a lifetime of dealing with Jimmie, snatched the phone off him.  “Jim-Dear.  She has a job to do, and you messaging her every five minutes will make her late.”  He kissed Jimmie gently on his brow.  “Now go and run a bath and have a soak for an hour.  It’ll make you calm down.  I’ll watch your phone for you.”We all sighed in relief as Jimmie trotted off obediently.  Elliot chuckled.  “How do you not run from the room screaming when he gets that stressed, Murray?”I watched as my uncle blushed slightly and looked embarrassed.  “Oh, well.  I love the man from top to toe.  Good and bad.  How can I not love him when he’s flipping out about nothing?  I just remember that he was there for me.  When they beat me so bad that they broke fourteen different bones in my body, he was there for me.  When I couldn’t walk for six months and was a foul-mouth coot because of the pain, he didn’t run screaming.  When I break down and cry thinking of that night, he holds me together.  For me to smile when he asks for the eightieth time if he should wear the purple shirt or the orange shirt tonight?  Well, that’s the easy part.”I swallowed a lump in my throat at the thought of what my uncles had been through, and the strength of their love.  I steeled my spine.  I knew that that’s how I wanted to love Elliot – with strength and honour, unwavering in my dedication to him, for the next seventy-odd years.  I could do it.  And the first thing would be the party.
We’d arrived a little late, as we had taken our time getting dressed after Murray and Jimmie had departed early, so they were ready for the first guests.  Elliot looked fantastic in black trousers and a brown shirt.  He told me it wasn’t brown, it was burnt umber.  It still looked brown to me.I was wearing my new shirt he’d bought me as a Christmas present.  I’d never owned such finery before, and I was a little nervous in wearing it.  It was a steel grey colour, with a pattern that looked very citified.  I felt like a fraud.  I was just a farm boy.“You’re not comfortable with attending this party with me, are you?” Elliot said in the car on the way over.He was the man I loved.  The man I adored.  I couldn’t lie to him.  “It’s not that I’m not proud to be with you, Quackle,” I muttered.  “It’s just I think they will look at me differently.”He nodded with a small smile.  “I understand.  Baby steps.  You’ll be fine.  No public displays of affection.  We’ll just be friends unless you want to introduce me as different.  I won’t kiss you in front of all those people, you know.”“I know, Quackle,” I said, taking his hand and giving it a squeeze.  “I love you.”The yacht club was a mass of yellow and red flowers, balloons and streamers.  It was packed with Jimmie’s friends and family, and everyone was chatting and having a wonderful time. We quickly found the guest of honour and waved to him where he was surrounded by friends, then headed to the bar to pick up a drink.  With a beer in my hand, I turned and saw an old mate of Murray’s, Rick Burgess.  Rick was a friend from what Murray referred to as “before.”  Before he’d been assaulted.  Before he’d been outed.  Before he’d been run out of the small country town where he was born and had worked his entire life as a farmer.  Rick was one of his childhood friends who didn’t shun Murray for being gay.“Rick,” I greeted him jovially, shaking his hand.  “It’s wonderful to see you.”  Then I stumbled at the first hurdle.  I turned to Elliot and faltered in how to introduce him.  “This is Elliot, he’s… umm…”Luckily Elliot seized the initiative.  “Elliot Montgomery.  I’m the new doctor in Dumbleyung.”They shook hands and began chatting about how dry the south of the state was.  I internally condemned myself for being a wimp.  The three of us discussed farming for a good fifteen minutes, debating the advantages of barley crops and questioning the new trade agreements with China. We finally separated from Rick, so Elliot and I circulated and spent an hour speaking with friends of Jimmie’s, eating delicious concoctions brought around by uniformed wait staff, and drinking alcohol. I left Elliot arguing the latest political stunt with some person I’d never met before, and went to drain the snake. On exiting the toilets, I approached the bar, and stood in line behind two men I vaguely remembered from some of Jimmie’s previous parties.“Oh, yes.  I could definitely have a piece of that arse,” one said. “I reckon he could take us both at the same time,” the other said.  “You can take his mouth.”I vaguely wondered which poor chap was being talked about and silently wished the bartender would hurry up.  The men continued their conversation with no worries as to who might be listening in.“You should ask him.  It could be our way to welcome in the New Year.”“I’ve never seen him before, so he must’ve come with someone.  We may have to invite them both in order to get a go at that cute arse.”“That may be painful.  What if he came with Jerry or Kevin?  I really can’t make myself want them ever again.  We should find out who he came with first.”“Do you think he is one of Johnnie’s boys?”“No.  I heard someone say he was a doctor.”My heart stopped at that comment.  A doctor?  It’s not like doctors were thick on the ground.  But maybe they weren’t talking about my boyfriend.“I think you may be right about the doctor.  He’s rich, whoever he is,” the second man remarked. “That shirt’s from the Alexandre Mattiussi spring collection.  It cost a pretty penny.  I recognised the burnt umber immediately.”Burnt umber?  My gut began to boil.  They weretalking about my boyfriend.  They were thinking about him.  They were discussing him.  They couldn’t have him.  My fingers curled into fists as I fought the urge to smash their heads together.“Do you think he’s gay?”“If he’s not, it makes it even hotter when he takes it.”I ground my teeth together and began to take deep breaths.  Starting a fight at Jimmie’s party was not the way to say happy birthday.  And besides, I only had myself to blame.  Yes, that man belonged to someone.  Me.  But I’d been too bloody pigheaded to publicly claim him.  That needed to be rectified.Armed with two beers and the fruity cocktail Jimmie loved, I made my way back to Elliot.  “Follow me,” I told him, uncaring that I was interrupting his conversation.  I made a beeline for Jimmie and Murray where they were standing together, chatting with friends.I pushed in front of them and handed a surprised Jimmie and Murray a drink each.  Then raising the voice that could shout instructions to a dog on the other side of a paddock, I commanded an audience.“I have something I wish to say.”The people around me immediately quieted and stepped back, allowing me my floor.“I want to say a big happy birthday to one of my favourite people in the world.”More conversations died as people realised an impromptu toast was being made.“Jimmie, you are my hero.  My shining star.  My uncle.  I can barely remember a time when you weren’t at Uncle Murray’s side, loving him, being a partner and being the best you could be.”  I thought there might be a glimmer of tears in Jimmie’s eyes, but I continued.  “Over the years, I’ve done the best I can to follow your example.  Because, if I can be exactly like you, then I’ve done great.”There were a couple of people in the crowd who called “Hear, hear”, but I ignored them.“I know there are times in my life that you may not have agreed with my decisions, but I always knew that you were there to support me.  Both you and Murray.  A united team.  Together.  When the invitation to this birthday came through the mail, I couldn’t think of a present to give you.  There was nothing worthy of the respect, honour and love I feel for both you and Murray.  But two minutes ago I thought of something.  Something that I knew would make you proud.  Something that I knew would make this a birthday you would remember.”By this time I had the attention of the room.  Someone had turned the music down and everyone was listening to what I had to say.  Uncle Murray was standing at Jimmie’s side, one beefy arm slung around the birthday boy, supporting Jimmie where he stood, blinking back the tears at my speech.I looked around and beckoned Elliot to my side.  Raising my glass I called out, “Here’s a toast to the best man in the room.  Happy birthday, Jimmie!”  The room echoed my toast.  “Happy birthday, Jimmie!”I took a mouthful of my beer, then turned to Elliot.  In a voice that only the two of us could hear, I whispered, “I love you, Quackle.”Then I grabbed him and kissed him.  With the attention of two hundred of Murray and Jimmie’s closest friends, I flung open the closet and kissed my boyfriend.  Shouts and wolf-whistles erupted around us, as the crowd went wild.  Elliot wrapped his arms around me and kissed me back.  I looked over to see Murray grinning widely and giving me the thumbs up, while Jimmie was unashamedly crying at my gift.  I watched as Murray’s arm encircled Jimmie’s waist, bent him over backwards, and smooched his lover. It was a signal to the rest of the crowd, and although it was two hours before we rang in the New Year, each person seemed to turn to their nearest neighbour and began kissing them.  I felt Elliot’s hand on my cheek and he softly said, “What did you do Hank Woods?”I smiled broadly.  “I claimed you.  Proudly.”“I love you, Hank.”  And then he kissed me again.

Vic's Birthday eXXXtravaganza w/ Diana Castilleja

Last year, I asked author friends to share their favorite birthday memories or short stories featuring some of their characters that was centered around birthdays of some sort and this year I decided to do the same thing.
Oh! And by the way: One person who comments on every post will be chosen at the end of the eXXXtravaganza to receive a special birthday prize (swag, books, GC, etc.)So, without further ado! Here's today's post by:

A birthday I'll never forget

I was turning 25. Yes, was. It's been a while since I've seen that age. It was kind of a milestone. I'd been married and divorced already. I'd been out of the house for more than seven years. I'd tried college and almost fried the last two brain cells I could call my own. So what was I doing that year?

My best friend and I had a game plan. A night on the town in San Antonio. Fancy dinner, new 'do, dress, and a show. It was the only time I got to see Jerry Lewis on stage. Yes,that Jerry Lewis. It was an amazingly fun night. I completely remember watching Mr. Lewis on stage and laughing when he forgot his lines. The show was Damn Yankees and it was a riot. It was one of the best birthdays ever.

I don't remember much more about it other than the fun I had, laughing at the show, and sharing an incredible evening with the bestest (Yes that too is a word!) friend in the world.

The only one to come close was my 16th.... but only because of the gift I got. And this is a hint. It wasn't a car.

So I guess you're wondering a little about me. Well, I'm a Capricorn, born on the cusp of Aquarius. And yes, I'm so Capricorn, it's scary.

Capricorn Strength Keywords:

responsible
patient
ambitious
resourceful
loyal

Capricorn and Independence:

Capricorns are very independent because they know their capabilities and therefore they rarely trust others to finish details, they like to do it all themselves.

Those that know me, know that little bit right ^there... Yeah. Me, to a T. I've seen a few more birthdays since that 25, but I'm not sharing how many. *wink*

So I gave a hint about what my present was for my 16th... The first person to answer correctly will get a copy of my latest release: Storming Love: Doug and Neal !

Thank you to everyone who checked out my blog post here, helping Vicktor celebrate his birthday! If you would like to do something for him, he's asked in lieu of gifts to send a donation to John Elton AIDS Foundation. I will donate a dollar for the first 20 to comment on this blog!!

About Diana:

Diana has been writing since 2004, with her first ebook published in 2006. Barely two years later, she got her first book into print, and she hasn't slowed down yet. With more than fifty titles currently available online, she's doing her best to make another milestone: Ten years of being published. (Oh my gawd! Has it been that long?? :O )

Starting in romantic suspense and sweet romance, she's branched into all sub-genres of romance, including erotic romance and GLBT, specifically MM under the Diana DeRicci name banner.

“Honey, that was the clown company on the phone. They aren’t coming either. I think we just need to call this off,” Kane said while absently placing the phone back on the wall mount. Avery was packing the last of the hotdogs and chips into a grocery bag, not paying him any attention. Autumn and Robert were bundled up head to toe in their matching snowsuits and snow boots. They stood waiting by the back garage door, both children stood staring up at him and Avery.  Uncertainty, as well as maybe some disappointment was clear in their eyes. Kane couldn’t help his small smile as he looked back at their children. Avery had even added decorative birthday party hats on top of their already tied hoods.
Today was their sixth birthday party and a late in the season snow storm was just beginning to blow in.  The giant tent, ponies, and caterer had already canceled this morning as the unexpected, unwanted storm began to build outside.
“We don’t need that stuff! We got this birthday party thing down! It’s not every day your children turn six years old!” Avery declared, grabbing the bag and the juice boxes, heading toward them. “We’re the Adams! We don’t need anything but ourselves to make this a great birthday party! Right?” No one answered as Avery walked past them and opened the garage door, letting the ice cold air in, chilling them all. “Let’s go! Pile in the truck for birthday party time!”
“Incoming, Robert! Watch yourself!” Avery yelled, diving in front of Robert, taking him off his feet seconds before a snowball would have hit him squarely in the face. Avery tried for a tuck and roll, letting the next snowball hit him. That was one thing he’d taught Autumn - take no prisoners, and his sneaky little daughter had let Granddaddy Paulie and Kane distract Robert while she came in from the side.“Are you okay?” Avery asked, looking down at Robert’s face, wiping away the snow that had landed there when they rolled.
“Yes! Thanks Dad!” Robert’s face beamed happily up at him. The moment stole his heart and he bent in placing a quick kiss on his son’s forehead.
“Good. Now we gotta get them back!” Avery started to stand, only to have Autumn suddenly jump on his back and the snowball in her hand smacked him in the face. She’d watched him pull that same move on Kane when they first got to the park today and now she was getting him back.
“We Win! Daddy we Win!” Autumn yelled, and Avery took the moment for his own surprise attack, carefully flipping his daughter over and dabbing her with just a little snow in the face. Her grin matched Robert’s who was still down beside her. He quickly kissed her forehead and brought them both to their feet.
“I think we still won, right Daddy?” Autumn asked. Her long blonde hair was slipping free of her hood and her bright red cheeks glowed as she ran toward Kane and Paulie who were making their way back over to them.
“You did real good, baby. They never saw you coming!” Autumn launched herself into Kane’s arms, where he hauled her up, settling her on his side.
“I think Granddaddy Paulie needs to be on our team next time. Autumn doesn’t need any help planning her strategies out.” Avery laughed as they met in the middle, close to the tent he had erected when they first arrived. The portable heater was keeping it warm, but so far they hadn’t needed the relief for anyone except Kennedy who hadn’t ventured out for the snow ball fight.
“Mom, are the hotdogs ready?” Avery yelled. She didn’t even lift the flap to respond, she just yelled back.
“If you like them black on one side, I’ve got them ready!” Autumn reached out for Avery and he took her as they made their way to the tent.
“I don’t like black on my hotdog,” she whispered in his ear. And the move Autumn had just pulled now made sense. Avery wouldn’t make her eat the hotdog, where Kane would make her at least take a bite.  Robert was right there beside them, working hard to keep up in the snow. He slid his hand in Avery’s and tugged.
“I don’t like black on my hotdog either, Dad,” he said. They had double teamed him! He looked over his shoulder to see if Kane had heard any part of their exchange. Apparently he had because he was already shaking his head no.  Now he was in a spot. Avery knew Kane wanted him to say they needed to at least try and eat the food, but his babies were only six year’s old one time in their lives.  Ignoring Kane he gave the declaration as he flipped open the tent.
“Mom, we’re forgoing the dogs and going straight for the birthday cake!”
“Whatever they want, but get inside here quick and close that flap. It’s too cold out there.” Autumn and Robert both squealed in delight, dessert before lunch never happened! Avery held the tent open for Paulie as he ducked in, but closed it as Kane got closer.
“Don’t be mad,” Avery started. Kane had always watched their diets so closely. He knew those hotdogs weren't just run of the mill, grocery store wieners. They were quite possibly handmade chicken hotdogs from a health food store Kane had found.
“You should have at least made them t…” Kane started but was stopped by Avery’s kiss on his lips.
“It’s their birthday.” Avery smiled at Kane’s slightly upturned face and leaned down to kiss Kane again.
“They're kissing again!” Autumn called out and Avery looked down to see her face sticking out of the flap. Her hood was off, her hair a crazy blonde mess, but her smile took his heart.
“Of course they are,” Paulie’s gravelly voiced boomed out.
“Come on! This is the best birthday ever! Nonnie has the cake ready.” The last part came out as a squeal and the tent flapped shut.
“How could I say no to that? “ Avery asked, lifting the tent for Kane.
“You need to learn how,” Kane said, ducking under the flap. Avery made sure he hid as he slid his hand down Kane’s ass cheek, only to get the are–you-serious glare in return from his husband. But in his defense, there weren’t too many times Kane’s ass stuck up in the air like that without him being prepared for more. Avery shrugged and gave a chuckle as he followed Kane inside the warm tent.

Oh! And by the way: One person who comments on every post will be chosen at the end of the eXXXtravaganza to receive a special birthday prize (swag, books, GC, etc.)So, without further ado! Here's today's post by the amazing:

38.
Wow.
You know, technically, I could tease Vick about being one year older, too. We discovered years ago that we share a birthday.
Over the years, I've kind of grown out of really celebrating my birthday. I greatly appreciate the well-wishes and the happy birthdays and everything, but it's pretty much just another day for me. I'm also not the kind of person who laments over getting older.
Childhood parties aside, though, I have many great adulthood memories of birthdays. This year is definitely one, and my 30th birthday is another.
This year, two days after my birthday, a game I've been wanting forever is *finally* coming out! I'm a thoroughly-addicted Dragon Age fan, so needless to say, my preorder was a birthday gift to myself. It's on my desktop, that pretty pretty icon, but I...can't...PLAY IT!!! *flails* Not until the 18th, anyway. *sighs*
The other birthday memory is my 30th. I spent it on a cruise ship over the Gulf of Mexico (and sick as a dog, but hey...). Mama and Barbara took me and my sis JoAnn on a cruise. We swam with dolphins in Cozumel, marveled at the ruins of Chichen Itza, went tubing through Belize caves, and rode a zipline through the Belize jungle. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
Of course, I had to get sick. On my birthday.
But nausea be damned.
I had a blast that year, turning 30 over the Gulf. And now I get to turn 38 just a couple days before trekking through the wilds and cities of Thedas.
Happy birthday to my beloved friend and Birthday Brother, Vick! :D
