San Diego Author Launches New Novel, Pays Tribute to Airwolf and Michael Jackson

Booktrope Publishing to release BETWEEN BOYFRIENDS chick lit/new adult novel by Sárka-Jonae Miller on November 11

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 5, 2013 - SAN DIEGO -- Sárka-Jonae Miller first got her idea for her chick lit/new adult novel Between Boyfriends in 2002, and 11 years later Booktrope is launching her novel on 11/11/2013. The coming-of-age story set in San Diego " is a sexy, hilarious story of living life, finding love, and growing up... but not necessarily in that order", but more than that it was Miller's opportunity to show insight into women who are never single, but merely "between boyfriends". The book also gave Miller, a long-time fan of Michael Jackson and of the hit 80s TV show Airwolf, a chance to pay tribute to her two favorite things.

Alex Cord, the amazing actor who played Michael "Archangel" Coldsmith-Briggs III on Airwolf, had this to say about the novel, "Great work and I hope the book does well." Miller is a big fan of Alex's movie work and his books, saying of his latest release, "'Days of the Harbinger' is an amazing story that presents a fantastic, yet realistic, answer to the question: How can one man inspire real change in the world?"

Miller insisted that a Bell 430 helicopter -- which she considers a modern version of the Bell 222 used as Airwolf for the show's title "character" -- be on the cover of Between Boyfriends. She's also sprinkled Airwolf Easter eggs throughout the planned triology for fans to find, including the story behind how her main character, Jan Michaela, got named after Jan-Michael Vincent, another Airwolf star. The timing is fortuitous with the G4 network recently beginning to air reruns of the show and a new Airwolf comic book just released by Lion Forge Comics.

The dedication to the novel reads, "For Michael Jackson, You are always in my heart." Miller has been a fan of the late King of Pop since she was 2 years old, but declined to comment on what year that was. BJ Hickman, a friend of Mr. Jackson's said, "I've had the pleasure of getting to know Sarka, and she's a real Michael Jackson fan, someone I wish I'd been able to introduce to Michael before he passed. She's also a talented writer. The 'broken-hearted badger' line in the beginning of chapter 1 is the funniest thing I've ever read."

But the novel is mainly for women in the new adult target range, the 18 to 25 year olds who are figuring their lives out, struggling to create identities independent of their parents, their friends, and their boyfriends. It's a funny story about tough issues, about finding one's way before finding the One.

My novel, Between Boyfriends, was on Amazon's Humorous Fiction best seller list from April 17 to April 25. It was also on the Comic Fiction list for 8 days. It made it to #3 on both lists. It also spent 2 days on the women's fiction best seller list, peaking at #32. Yay!

When I heard Taylor Swift's single "22" and saw images of the video shoot where Taylor is hanging out with her girl friends and not worrying about boys, I immediately thought of Jan Weston, the heroine in my chick-lit novel, Between Boyfriends. Like Taylor, Jan just wants to go out and dance and laugh and have a good time with her friends.
