Volatalistic Phil's Newspaper Interview 4-24-12

In case you haven’t heard, I was recently interviewed by Jonathan Gamboa of the CNM Chronicle for my newest releases: Flash Fiction 40+1: New Mexican Bread Aisle and White Elephant. The CNM Chronicle previously interviewed me in November for the release of my Novel, My Mind’s Abyss. It is an amazing, truly amazing, wonderfully awesome opportunity. I am incredibly grateful to have been a feature in both issues of the CNM Chronicle. I hope to make my community proud, my school proud, my friends and family proud, and my readers proud. I don’t know what I can say that can express how grateful I am. I suppose I will just say “thank you,” though I don’t feel that it says much, but I want it to. A very special thanks to

Congratulations to the winners!

I’d like to congratulate the winners of my giveaway for White Elephant and Flash Fiction 40+1: New Mexican Bread Aisle (courtesy of Goodreads.com). I’d like to thank everyone for their interest and for taking the time to enter into the contest, the sort of digital cake walk that it is, but only no cake. I shipped all of the items out today, so if you’re one of the fortunate winners, expect your book very soon.

Oddly enough, a friend of mine, that lives in the same city, that I just had a math class with in this semester, that just ended–won a copy of White Elephant. And while he attributes that success to The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, and while that may be true, I still maintain that it is because I have the best readers. So thank you everyone, thank you for being the best readers that an author can have.

On a side note, I’m still making more progress with volume 2 of Flash Fiction 40+1 series and...

eBook giveaway on 05/05/12

A special thanks goes out to the two people in the USA and the one person in the UK that took advantage of my free eBook giveaway promotion on Amazon for White Elephant, yesterday. I’m happy to know that it wasn’t a complete waste. I’m also happy to see there are a few people that will take my work for free. I’m actually really grateful that you have given me the opportunity to entertain you with my writing.

LOL, this wasn’t a fail though, because even though it was only three people–this still makes it a WIN! Had it been nobody then it would have been a FAIL. So I am grateful for you three, and everyone who has allowed me the opportunity to entertain them with my writing. You are all hall of fame in my book.

Scribbles Update

I figured that I would announce this along with my sobriety birthday, but I thought perhaps it would have been far too long of a single blog entry; Scribbles is coming out, soon! I’m very excited about it, and like my other publications, I’m hoping that it will be well received. I just want to express further appreciation for my readers that I do have. I know that we are a tiny, tiny group, but I’m grateful for you.

I’ve reviewed one printing of the book and made the necessary corrections. I’m going to be receiving another copy to again review before I give it my thumbs up. The eBook of Scribbles is formatted and is waiting for distribution. Please stay tuned to find out when it’ll be out. Just like with ALL of my publications have been thus far, this one will also be offered as a FREE EBOOK on Amazon as well, but for a limited time! And I enjoy doing that, I really do, it helps spread it about, and I like doing it for my brand new titles when they first come out.

I was going to postpone the book for a month, but I’m about to start a couple “real” jobs and with summer school classes, I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to write. But no, I’m not accepting that because I will make time to write. But just as well, I figured I didn’t want to keep my lovely readers waiting. So, my beautiful people, I give you the cover of Scribbles and another sneak peek into it.

The Magical Place

Every morning it is the same routine; awakening from another type of dream, the uncomfortable mattress, the wood that squeaks, the almost unbearable early morning cheeps, the bloodstains that have paved my memory, laying down the guiding stream, the guardrails, the harrowing.

I want to blot out the eyes of the sun. I want no more visions, no more light; let’s subside into the dark. And there I will find the quietness, the serenity, the simplicity, the audacity, the intricacies, the heresies, the simple but much appreciated pleasantries that having no

Well, This Made My Day!

To my surprise, I received a thank you letter from the UNM Children’s Hospital for my Valentine’s Day donation. I really wasn’t expecting it, so it was a pleasant surprise! It sounds like it was well received and I’m glad to hear that. If you’re interested in my Valentine’s Day blog entry, you can click here: http://wp.me/p233cV-4s

On a side note, I’m still making more progress on Jet Lag and will be reading three poems from that collection on July 12, 2012 @ 7 PM. I’ll be one of four features reading. It’ll be at El Chante: Casa de Cultura 804 Park Ave. SW Albuquerque, NM (Southwest corner of Central and 8th). The place hosts and sells some amazing art work too, so if you do come, be sure and check that out and help support that local business and the local artists they promote, if you can.

September Update!

Hello everyone! I’m still here, I promise! I’ve been busy, busy, lately, and I realize that it has been a while since I’ve posted some type of an update. I’m just checking in to let interested parties know that I’m still writing and still hard at work at getting more stuff out there.

I’ve written another novel, but it’s still far from complete–remember, editing is writing. I’m almost done with another new novel based off of my homeless experience I took to write the story. My poetry collection, Jet Lag, is still in the works, and I’m hoping to have about 100-125 poems in the 6 x 9 format...

Mentally, I have been doing a lot better, far from how I had been feeling for such a long time. I’ve been getting out and exploring the world again, instead of staying inside all the time, trapped in my own world, writing. I’ve been eating better, getting back to the human thing, getting water and exercise, which is a plus because in just over two months I’ve lost 30lbs, although in part to that 13 day fast I did to help reset myself and to cleanse and detox. I’m in a...

Oi! (Update blog)

It’s been a while, I think, since my last scribbling, writing, screaming into an empty space…since I’ve last written a blog entry. Anyhow… so what’s been going on? Okay…

Well, I had a graduation walk for an Associates degree a couple of weeks back…which made me feel like an asshole for walking for a half-degree. I mainly did it for the folks because they wanted to see it, otherwise, I wouldn’t have. The saddest story not told that day was the one about how my graduation cap read: “Made in El Salvador”, which, made me feel even worse.

Writing: I’m still chugging right along, still writing and writing. I’m still submitting pieces of mine to various presses and so far have gratefully collected two rejection letters!

March Madness Update!

Hey what’s up everyone? I know it’s been a while since my last update, but it seems that finding the time has been difficult–or maybe I’ve just been lazy. My apologies.

The Scoop: I’m still just as busy as ever with school and work, but I also picked up a 2nd job because with the hours and pay of my other job, it’s hard to get by. But, what are you gonna do? We get by.

With spring break here, again, I think I may actually get caught up with some of my homework, do some more writing, but also, work on my organic garden! Yeah, I’m going to do a garden this year, and with any luck, I can sell some of the excess to make a little money. I’m also planning to do some donations from my garden, but I’d like to arrange it with some type of a read or something that will draw people out, but they can also get some grub if they need or want to. We’ll see how that goes. None-the-less, I’m very excited about it.

Writing Update: I’m still working with the prose side of my brain, but I’m not ready to

Some updates & some poems

Hello everyone, it’s been eons since I’ve written anything here. You all have Crystal of “Dreams Dissolve” to thank–she keeps writing stuff on her blog and it has somehow made me feel inadequate and now I’m posting something.

Quick updates and some poems for you beautiful people.

****UPDATES****

–I’ve been working two jobs now for a year and I don’t know how else not to hustle, but on the brighter side of things, I’m picking up another gig, so I’m thinking about growing a business, in seeing how I have a couple of contracts now. I also went to an interview for a new job where I’ll be in a position to help people, and I’m fairly certain I have the job. I did my pee test and other stuff required and I think everything has gone well. It is a little unsettling because I’ve been used to getting shit on for so long that now that things are going my way, I don’t know what to expect or how to react–but I’m still hopeful.

–My Mind’s Abyss is...

Burned to Death

(From the 3rd book in my unpublished poetry series)

Burned to Death

The fan cowl for
my Nissan broke &
my car would overheat
without it—so an electric
fan was a cheaper
temporary fix,
but I didn’t know
much about cars
and wiring

I ran the wires
direct to a toggle
switch and to the battery,
with the wires
going behind my
dashboard

My passenger
window was broken &
wouldn’t go down,
and the door wouldn’t
open from the inside

On lunch break at
work, I went to the
Burger King drive-thru;
I was waiting in the line
when all of the sudden
I saw smoke coming
from behind my dash
