Veronica Reviews Gerard Butler’s #SciFi Movie ‘Greenland’

Note: This post first appeared on the AMAZING STORIES Magazine blog…

I love dystopian science fiction in books, movies and TV shows so I was happy to watch “Greenland,” the new Gerard Butler action adventure film. Briefly, Clarke, a comet “from another solar system” is on its way to Earth when it breaks apart and at first is expected only to be a spectacular light show as fragments enter the atmosphere and burn up. Oh wait, maybe a few bigger pieces will hit the ground. No, on third thought, may...

Veronica Scott’s Personal Picks for Memorable SciFi/Fantasy/Paranormal Romance Covers for 2020

One of the fun things I get to do every week is look at all the new book covers in my favorite genres. Once a year I attempt to distill down to a purely personal post on a small percentage of covers which stood out in my mind as particularly memorable.

There are two parts to the creation of this post – first, when I started thinking about the most memorable science fiction romance covers I’d seen in 2020, I took my pen in hand and wrote down the ten which came immediately to mind. It’s an arbitr...

Why I Wrote JAMOKAN – New Badari Warriors #SciFi Romance Novel

VS Note: This post first appeared on Pauline Baird Jones’s blog…

This year was a challenge as far as writing. With all that was going on with the pandemic, lockdowns, social distancing, not seeing the grandkids, political stuff – wow, the Muse didn’t want to write. I thought I’d just do a short novella about Jamokan, the third Badari Alpha, and at least put out something.

Turned out Jamokan is a much more complex guy than I anticipated and the book ended up being 85K words and taking two extra m...

Veronica Reviews SONGBIRD New #SciFi Dystopian Film

VS Note: This post first appeared on the AMAZING STORIES Magazine blog…

As an avid consumer of dystopian science fiction novels, TV shows and movies, I was eager to view “Songbird,” a new movie from Director Adam Mason and Michael Bay, the producer of “A Quiet Place” and “The Purge”.  Mason and Simon Boyes co-wrote the script. This movie was filmed over the summer of 2020 in Los Angeles and is touted as being the first movie to film and release following the shutdown.

Set in the near future when...
