London - Day 2

Another awesome day in London.  I love drinking hot tea at every opportunity.  My daily walks as home prepped me for all this walking. The weather so far is very like Seattle. Cool and a bit rainy.  Perfect walking all day weather.  Jet lag requires a fairly early night so we can get up early tomorrow to explore.

Visited Waterstones Piccadilly, Europe's largest bookshop,  which was packed with people.  New friend Michele (whom I met at RT) works there.  It was fun to see her in her native habitat. J  Could have stayed there all day exploring.  They had this amazing Lego display.

Walked around Liberty – clothing, cosmetics and their world famous print fabrics.  Casually strolled through their shoe department and saw these beauties.  Christian Louboutin shoes. 760 pounds (about $1500) did not buy them!

Beautiful Old Staircase                                                                                                                                Looking down Liberty HouseLooking up.

They still have these iconic red phone booths – but now they have texting ability and internet capabilities.

National Portrait gallery.  A fascinating morning at the National Portrait Gallery, then around the corner, pausing to mingle with the crowds in Trafalgar Square before going into the National Gallery.  A feast for the eyes.Michelangelo, Raphael, da Vinci and Titian and dozens and dozens more.  Mind boggling to be up close and personal with these works of art.
It’s hard to believe this is a one dimensional painting.  I was severely reprimanded for taking the picture. Oops! LoL!

A lovely little pub where we ate bangers and mash and had a cup of tea. (No idea who those people were) LoL!

My Trip to Germany - Day 1 London!!!

We stopped to change planes in Minneapolis yesterday. I just love the Delta terminal there. These are pix of the seating at the gate. It's an awesome internet cafe, with an iPad on every table, with free internet access, and a menu. They bring your food to the table and you pay with a swipe of your cc. VERY futuristic. Lol. Loved the charge station at the table.

This was the sign when we came through the border checkpoint at Heathrow yesterday.

So far our first (half) day in London is proving to be awesome!! In hotel bar sipping a July Star after walking the British Museum for 6 hours directly after an 11 hour flight. I have a feeling the gin, St. Germaine liquer, star fruit, elderflower cordial, fresh lemon juice and pressed apple juice, while delish won't make up for the long sleepless flight!! I see an early night in my very near future!! London is big, bustling and amazing. So many people out and about in the streets. Of course it's Friday and the pubs, restaurants and clubs are packed with lines snaking for blocks.
