MANor Candy Monday - Stokesay Castle

It's MANor Candy Monday, and today I'm featuring Stokesay Castle, located outside the town of Craven Arms, in Shropshire, UK. This fortified manor house lies near the border of England with Wales, which explains why it needed fortified.

Favorites Friday - Historical Novels

Today I'm traveling to the Historical Novel Society North American Conference, and in honor of that I've decided to list just a few of my favorite Historical authors. They may write Historical Mysteries, or Historical Romance, Time-Slips or simply straight Historical Fiction. But in whatever shape or form, they are fabulous.
Tasha Alexander - Her Lady Emily series is smart and entertaining, and the title character travels to some fascinating locations in the late Victorian era. The latest, Deat...

Reader's Questions - My Writing Process

I recently asked my followers on Facebook for any questions they would like me to answer, and several of them asked about my writing process.

They wondered whether certain times of the day work best for me. Yes and no. I should really do better at having a set schedule, but the truth is, I don’t have one. I can usually write at about any time of day, as long as I put myself in the right place mentally to do so. However, I do have some issues with the mid-afternoon slump, so that’s...

MANor Candy Monday - Paxton House

This week's MANor Candy Monday is the lovely Georgian manor, Paxton House, in Paxton, Berkwickshire, in the Scottish Borders region of the UK. This extravagant country house was built between 1758 and 1766 in an attempt to woo a Prussian heiress. The courting was unsuccessful, but the beautiful home still remains. ...

Readers' Questions - Theme

Last week I asked my fans on Facebook whether they had any questions they would like to ask me, and several people responded. Thank you! I plan to answer those questions in a series of blog posts over the following weeks, so stay tuned. And if you have a question you want answered, but missed out on asking, it's not too late. Just send me a message via Facebook, Twitter or by email.
Now, on to today's topic - Theme. Pamela M asked how the theme for each of my book's mat...

WIP Wednesday - Lady Darby Book 3 Setting

I've been hard at work writing Lady Darby Book 3, which won't release until July 2014, but I just couldn't resist sharing with you the setting of several critical scenes, including one set just after midnight.  They occur in the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey in the Border region of England and Scotland.  I was fortunate enough to visit there in the autumn of 2010 and snap some pictures.
And, yes, that is a cemetery in the foreground of this shot.
Midnight in a cemetery. &n...
