I tried to limit myself to the point at which the only appropriate word I could think of was the one I used. I do love painting as thorough a picture as I can. Perhaps I get a little carried away. I use a thesaurus only when I've used a word twice in close proximity: maybe five times in the writing of The Id Paradox. I'm really sorry it was distracting for you.
Some readers like it (as you can see from the first review I got (something along the lines of "Jan reminds us of what a rich language we have"). Another reader objected to the philosophical portion. I guess you can't please everyone.
But I very much appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind as I continue my journey as a writer.

Cheers,

To Sing Like a Mockingbird

Greer Bellamy

To Sing Like a Mockingbird is one of those books that sneaks up on you. At first glance, it’s a story about juvenile reform and small town politics, but by the end, it becomes a meditation on integrity and the price of sticking to your beliefs.

Justin Kopechne is written with refreshing honesty. He’s not a saint his rigidity often makes him difficult to support, but that’s exactly wha Read more of this blog post »

I wish I had a bit better understanding of economics for this work. There were a few parts I needed to read over and check out some of the vocabulary online. However, the fault is mine not Mr. Dikotter's.

I found this to be a quite serviceable general history of Guatemala. It didn't go into a lot of detail or sociopolitical analysis but it was, in my opinion, reasonably objective, without a lot of tendentiousness.
