I Haven’t Forgotten 9/11

Tribute in LightSeptember 11th. Twelve years. Kids who were born in September 2001 are turning or have turned twelve years old. I have a granddaughter among them. I remember being present at her birth, not many days after 9/11, and thinking how good it was to have a moment of happiness amid all of the fear and uncertainty and sorrow.

Twelve years old. These kids just started a new school year in the sixth or seventh grades, depending upon the age cut off date of their school districts. And they will never kno...

Goodreads Reading Challenge

Goodreads Reading ChallengeUnlike many of my friends, I am not a fast reader. I like to linger over sentences. I don’t like to rush through a book. Back before I was a writer, it was not unheard of for me to spend a entire Saturday, lying on the couch, reading a paperback novel from beginning to end. When I was much younger, I even read clear through the night a few times, finishing a book about 6:00 AM. (Too old for that now!)

Anybody who is serious about being a novelist must be serious about being a reader first. Whi...

Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

The WitnessMy Bible reading schedule brought me to Matthew 16 this morning and to a favorite passage of Scripture:

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

And Jesus said to him, “Bless...

A Few Favorite Apps for My Mac

MacBooksI pretty much live on the computer, and I love to find applications that will help me work smarter, write better, get more done in less time, etc. So I thought it was time I did a post about my favorite apps for my laptops/desktops. (I did a post two years ago about iPad apps, in case you’re interested.)

It has been thoroughly established on my blog that I am a total MacHead. In my brainstorming group of ten writers, I was the first to switch to the Mac nearly eight years ago, and this year we...

Christian Fiction Wednesday

After years of writing novels, I’ve been privileged to meet many authors of Christian fiction, and I love to help readers find their work. Although I usually haven’t read the books I share in my Christian Fiction Wednesday posts (too many books, too little time), I like to feature their books to help readers find them. Check out these books and maybe you’ll discover another favorite author or two.

Sweet Fellowship

What a wonderful weekend I've had. No agenda. Just fellowship with other Christian writers. We talked writing. We talked Scripture. We talked faith. We laughed and laughed. How grateful I am for the people God has put in my life in the last 20 years. And thank you, Bill, for opening your home and beautiful garden for us to meet in.

I didn't bring my camera and only took a few with my iPhone so I'll have to wait to get photos from others. The picture in this post is with Harry Kraus. Harry, a...

Definition of a Good Day

I love the Wizard of Oz movie. Huge fan. HUGE! My daughters know this and have given me the keepsakes to prove it (not to mention taking me to see Wicked on my birthday awhile back). I love the new Oz movie too, mostly because it tried to honor the 1939 version.

Anyway, when I saw this graphic on Pinterest, I just had to share on my blog because it made me laugh out loud. And if you’re a fan like me, I’ll bet you laughed too.

A Good Day

Yep, I’m pretty sure that’s the definition of a good day. No releasin...
