One of the primary struggles of writing is the work itself. I’ve detailed that struggle sufficiently elsewhere and won’t elaborate at the moment. You’re welcome.

Another struggle of the writing life is keeping your work in front of people and making sure they can find it.

In an attempt to do just that, I’m migrating my public writing over to Substack.

“In this sense, Rachel envied fictional characters. For them, everything would eventually make sense. If she were fictional, all the random, ridiculous events of her life would mold into a recognizable shape, building toward something. She would recognize signs, portents, and foreshadowing. In real life, however, no such clues were forthcoming.”
Ruth Buchanan, Flexible: A Novel of Mystery, Drama, Rehabilitation, Spiders, and the Occasional Head Wound

“Christ nailed all my guilt to the cross. Sometimes, though, I needed a reminder that the nails held.”
Ruth Buchanan, Murder on Birchardville Hill

I'm sad you've been so ill, but totally happy that you've been meeting goals and taking names. I'll be interested for your input on the post I've written for the blog. It's going up tomorrow and focuses on the money side of how you can afford to read a lot.

Rachel Sooo.... I found a benefit to being homebound with illness for ALL of 2015. (drumroll) My goal is to read 365 books, and hit 100,000 pages! lol... I discovered in August that I was about 5 books behind the numerical day of the year, so I've been working toward that goal. This month, I realized I was at 79,000 pages, so that's my secondary goal. Having a blast! Of course, I would be fine with a miraculous recovery, too... but while I'm down, I might as well stretch my horizons, right?!
