Who Said Women Can’t Get Along?

group_of_women1I have heard it said that one man can make a difference. Now I know that this phrase was not to the exclusion of women but in reference to mankind as a whole. I have also heard and been one to say that women don’t get along. I used to be one of those women that only had one or two women friends and a basket full of male friends…until I reached my thirty’s and realized just how much I was missing out on. Over a decade ago, my pursuit of the quest to make a difference, to be involved, to inspire landed me directly in front of women. See, my purpose involves women. Therefore all of my hang-ups, past issues, immature, preconceived notions had to take a back seat as I met and learned more about the many facets of women.

In this very moment and for the past year, I have been dealing with health issues and to a large degree it has been women who have made the difference in my growth and healing; unique, powerful, loving, nurturing women.

This writing serves as an acknowledgement, a song of praise if you will, for women. It’s important you realize just how powerful and wonderful you are as a woman, as a female, a Goddess, as someone who has a unique blueprint different from the male of our species. Your gift is priceless when used well with integrity and you conduct yourself from this seat of female power. It’s not the media’s and popular culture’s representation of feminine wiles, cunning, and manipulation. No, it’s the power of the nurturer and spiritual valuesimages (1).

I speak partly from my own experience that has a depth and richness that is so hard to explain yet so easily lived. It also includes influence from historical and cultural perspectives and the recognition that almost every great man in history has attributed a large part of their success to the great woman in their life. I attribute it to the call in my heart and the need in my soul for that connection and healing balm that only the company of a siSTAR can provide. How can words possibly express such complexity and yet such simplicity so that it is understood and owned by all women? WE ARE THE HEALERS OF THIS WORLD!

It is my desire to empower each of you to be the greatest woman you can be. If I had any advice for your day-to-day living, I’d say look to women who are mature in experience and who have a healthy perspective on love, life, and relationships. Look to women who are successful in their relationships and careers without compromising their highest values that ring so true in all of our hearts. Then look in the mirror and ask yourself the hard questions, love on self and be true to self.

Don’t hold back, be all that you are made to be.

Yes, one man can make a difference, but the truth is; Women make all the difference!

Peace, love, harmony – it is power.

Be divinely beautiful; it radiates from within.

Whoever said women can’t get along was wrong! I love you and there is nothing you can do about it!

It’s time to Make a Difference!images

No More Excuses!

l819478948Are you ready for your inspirational jolt for the day? When you first read it, it may seem too simple…which is really how life is and why we sometimes miss out on some really good things. However, if you think about it for even a moment, you’ll see that the implications are profound – and inspiring. This is it:

“Whatever goals you have in your life, and no matter where you start, someone has succeeded at something similar or even more difficult, starting with less than you have.”

There may be some of you out of the six billion or so on the planet for whom this doesn’t apply. Perhaps some really want to do things that are far beyond anything a man or woman has ever done, so I apologize to the fifty of you. There is nothing new under the sun therefore, someone somewhere has done it before! As for the rest of you, what do you want?

Want a loving partner? Somebody less attractive, charming and intelligent than you is getting happily married somewhere today. Want to create a new food and successfully market it? You probably already have more resources than Harland Sanders had when he started trying to sell his Kentucky Fried Chicken. Want a big beautiful home? Three or more people in your city have such a home after being poorer than you at some point in their lives.

Anthony Hopkin’s character, in the movie “The Edge,” says “What one man can do, another can do.” He goes on to kill the bear that is stalking him. What if you aren’t as strong, as rich, or as smart as others? Not all those who have done great things were always stronger, smarter and richer than you. Just like them, you can learn the right things, take the right actions and put in the effort. This is why this is an inspirational jolt. I want to jolt you out of your current mindset. Check out where some people started from and you’ll find yourself saying, “Hey! If he/she can do it, I can too.”

I told a guy he could save money to buy a home, and he claimed he just didn’t have any extra to save. He forgot that he already knew several people who were making less money than him and surviving just fine. If he lived like those people for a while, couldn’t he bank the difference? (Just say yes – finding reasons why you can’t do something is a terrible habit to encourage.)

Would you like a date for this Friday? How? Here’s a clue: An awkward young man asked a woman friend why he couldn’t get a date. She asked if he had asked anyone out. After he thought about it for a moment he said, “No.” “That’s why,” she told him. Better example: I know a jerk that always has a date – after asking twenty women a week out. These are lessons, aren’t they? If a self-proclaimed geek and a jerk can get a date, you can too, right?

Colonel Sanders drove around in an old van living off his social security check as 900 restaurants told him they were not interested in his recipe. One eventually said yes, and he eventually made millions of dollars. Maybe this could inspire us to try something more than three times? I believe it was W. E. Hickson who made this 1800′s proverb popular: Tis a lesson you should heed:Try, try, try again. If at first you don’t succeed,Try, try, try again.

8fb13c90a362e36370ad44d9cab2fe7ePeople come here with little money and speaking little English and end up owning restaurants and stores. If you want to own a restaurant or store, find out how they do it. There are almost three million millionaires in the U.S. If you really want millions, read their stories, studythem, and learn how to make money. Whatever you want to do, someone has done it, starting from a worse situation than yours. If they can do it, you can too. No excuse will do. “Excuses are tools of incompetence that build monuments of nothingness and those that insist upon using them are seldom good at anything else.-Unknown This is your inspirational jolt for the day.

Inspired and In Spirit

holy-spirit-best-bestWhat does the word inspiration mean to you? I look at the word and break it into two parts: “in” and “Spirit.”  To live an inspired life then means to be “in Spirit” all the time – to be in tune with the magnificent presence of the Higher Self within you. Where in effect, the mind is open to everything, and attached to nothing. We are all created in the image of God who is Himself,  such an organizing intelligence no matter what religion, nationality, or belief system, that divine spark resides within everyone even if the person is not currently aware of it.

Therefore, this organizing, all knowing, ever present intelligence is the place from which we all derive inspiration – in Spirit. An inspired life is finding a way to live in harmony with the divine intelligence with every thought you have. It is to live at all times in Spirit and feeling yourself when you are disconnected from Spirit. The key is being in touch with that divine source within which is inspiration. Living day in and day out, watching every thought and knowing that you have left Spirit when you have a negative or selfish thought – when you become ego centered (Edging-God-Out).

Being inspired is about changing awareness of yourself from being limited, having no luck, things never working out, etc. into realizing that you are unlimited and have the potential to create whatever you truly desire if it is in alignment with the divine within. Whatever the mind of man can conceive, the mind of man can create. You are a perfect creation of the Divine. There is absolutely nothing that you cannot create because you are made in HIS image and GOD can do ANYTHING! You just have to Believe it. Speak it. Walk in it.

Living an inspired life is realizing that you came from a divine source – you are a piece of His divinity, an expression of unlimited potential. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; but spiritual beings having a human experience.”  A drop of the ocean is not the ocean, but the small drop has the same qualities and essence of the ocean. Since the source from which we came is love, peace, abundance, unlimited, perfect health, then we also have these qualities inherent in us as humans. It is actually an insult from which you came to think anything less.

We came into existence from divinity but somehow got separated from our source and developed an ego. We began to follow the herd and to identify with accumulating things. Things that mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things!

Quiet your mind, meditate, and get back in touch with your Higher Self.

freedomWhen you are inspired, you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever imagined. Realize that your thoughts are energy. It’s all about what kind of thoughts and feelings we offer up to achieve our desires which are aligned with Spirit. You will find renewed strength when you are In Spirit…just try it, I promise you will make a way to remain in tune with your Higher Self daily. As I type this on bed rest I concede, there is no alternative…I AM In Spirit surrounding myself with loving energy and sending that energy to you.

Peace, Love and Light

DEAR SICKNESS & DIS-EASE: NOTICE TO VACATE PREMISES

eviction1Dear Sickness & Dis-ease:

This is your official notice to vacate the premises immediately. All of the doors have been re-keyed and the windows are guarded by Earth Angels so you WILL NOT be able to re-enter this Sacred Space again!

What you meant for evil, God is turning around for  good even in the middle of your attack. Angels will escort you around as you pack everything you brought with you (every pain, every stronghold, every weakness, every cause and effect) and then escort you out of this space.

That which you have stolen is being restored as you are being removed. I finally have a clean space and I am at ease with me. I suggest you go peacefully but we are prepared to remove you by force. The choice is yours. YOU ARE HEREBY EVICTED!

Closed for Business-I need some “Me” Time

CFB_rgb_150Let’s face it. Life can be difficult. It just can be. Work pressures mount, family demands become overwhelming, health suffers, stress builds.

I have to admit, it happens to me and when it does, when life gets to be too much or too hard, I put up a “CLOSED for business” sign and seek out a little inspiration. After-all, I am my business and whose business is it to take care of me but me? Once I’m taking care of I make it my business to take care of others;  so yes, it’s okay to put up that sign sometimes. Peace of Mind is priceless and it saves me the cost of giving someone a piece of my mind…you understand?

Inspiration looks good (a beautiful photograph), smells good (fresh flowers, baking cakes), sounds good (nature cd, listening to my glambaby sing to me) and feels good (a slow walk, your favorite movie/book or blasting the music and dancing like no one’s watching).

Surrounding yourself with inspiration helps you get and keep your life on track because it returns you to YOUR spirit – to your center. When you feel inspired, it’s a sign you’re touching a place deep within yourself. From this place, you can create, plan, and simply live a life that feels better. And when you feel better, everything runs a bit more smoothly, creativity increases, things get done, you feel happier.

1. Inspiration is Heart Opening. Think about the last time you read an inspiring story. Did your heart feel 10 times bigger than normal? Inspiration opens your heart and when your heart is open you become more accepting of yourself and others. You feel more patient. Your general outlook improves. Connecting with your heart reduces stress.

2. Inspiration Inspires Greatness. Have you ever seen a beautiful painting and had the urge to stop by your nearest art supply store for a canvas and oil paints? Inspiring works of art touch within us our innate desire to create art that’s unique to us. (art = an outward expression of your deepest joy…i didn’t say how anyone else perceives it, just you)

3. Inspiration Calms and Restores Nature. Fresh air. Wide open spaces. Sunny, hot beaches. Don’t you already feel more relaxed? Exactly! Mother Nature is ready and willing to share her inspired works of art with us. She’s made it highly accessible and totally free! This is why I have a dedicated day for the beach this summer because it replenishes ME!

4. Inspiration Energizes and Refreshes. How did you feel watching 16yr old Gabby Douglas make history as the the first black gymnast to win the individual all-around gold medal in the 2012 Olympics? Did it make you want to do backward flips on a tiny bar high up in the air complete with splits and twists and turns? Maybe! Did it make you want to do something greater with your life? Inspiration is powerful because it touches the part of us that knows, deep inside, we’re made for so much more.

5. Inspiration Spreads Joy. Inspiration makes you feel good. Just think of the last inspiring chain-email you received and passed on with a note that said, “I never do this but I had to share this with you!” When you feel good, when the joy in you comes alive, and you share your joy with others, you impact the world in a thousand positive ways.

The next time life feels difficult, put up a “CLOSED for business sign” and get out for a little inspiration. You’ll love the results and others will love you for it!

Know Your Worth and Shine Bright Like a Diamond!

intention-self-worthI have been hearing this phrase more & more but this weekend it was resounding within me. I lost count of how many times I heard it stated, inferred or it was brought back to mind. Oftentimes, when we grocery shop for vegetables and fruit we tend to look for the unblemished, cleaner looking ones amongst other criteria.  When we shop for clothes and come across an item with a blemish it is most likely marked “irregular” and we tend to pass it up.  However, in both situations the right person will come along and see past the “blemish” or irregularity and see the true value in the item. A chef will know just what to do with a blemished piece of fruit that has all other qualities needed and a fashionista will know just how to remove or cover the blemish to get the most value out of her unique, irregular find.

I want to tell you a quick story about my partner and me. We set up our ArtSoulistic Creations exhibit yesterday and although hot and muggy, there was a gusty wind that would stir up every so often. As we were setting up, one such wind blew all of our art work into the dirt and mud. We were able to salvage all of the pieces but one piece in particular had an excess of mud and we wiped all that we could get off it but it left a slight smudge on the yellow backdrop. My partner (the artist) did not want to put that piece up because it was now “dirty” blemished if you will. I convinced her that it was still a valuable piece, its beauty far outweighed its blemish and someone would still want it.  Reluctantly, she put it back up for people to purchase and wouldn’t you know it…a well traveled woman stopped at our exhibit and began complimenting our pieces. She told us how she was an art lover and purchased pieces from all over the world.  She walked straight over to the “blemished” piece and said, “How much?” we told her and she took it down herself saying, “This is mine” and paid for it on the spot.  She said her husband is going to kill her for bringing another piece of art in their home but it’s worth it. She also mentioned that she saw the blemish but it didn’t mean a thing to her. After she left, I told my partner…God has a way of showing you your value.  That blemish meant nothing to a skilled art lover! That was THE ONLY piece we sold in 5hrs yesterday! God definitely had a message in that mud.

It didn’t all hit me until this morning that we sometimes think less of our own value/worth because of some “blemish” or circumstance in our life and we shrink back, not giving our all or living the life God intended for us to live. We think as soon as I get this right or as soon as I get my own this, or as soon as God bless me with this and GOD is saying KNOW YOUR WORTH NOW and trust ME with your “blemish”.

ed85diamond-in-the-rough1Diamonds are hidden in mines as lumps of charcoal and it takes a skilled eye to see past that charcoal to that diamond. That diamond holds the same value in a lump of charcoal as it does once buffed and shined…to the right beholder.  Well, honey God is the right beholder and our value and worth is made in His image. There is no one like you. You are His custom design, blemish and all. Second to Him, YOU are the only beholder that matters. I don’t care what your circumstance, what your hang-up is or what you may see as your “blemish”. Trust the God in you to handle your blemish. Now, no one can ever tell you your worth or calculate it for you…you have to know your own worth.  However, God will send skilled and trained eyes to see past that blemish straight to your value. See, sometimes God sends others or allow others to help you see your worth…they pick you up and squeeze you like fruit to see if you’re ripe and ready for what He has for you. They pull and stretch you like clothes to see if you know how to bounce back. They put you through pressure and heat like metal to see if and how you bend under pressure and then there are those that put you under stress like a diamond and just when you think you’ve had enough…God will buff you, shine you and present you with slight “imperfections” which makes you unique, different, rare and most valuable.

So I say to you, KNOW YOUR WORTH and be thankful for those that come into your life to help you get a full understanding of your value.  Every circumstance or person that comes into your life whether perceived good or bad has a lesson with them that can add to your value if you let it. It’s all in how you do the math, you can let a negative situation subtract from your value or find the lesson in it and allow that to add to your value.  Never let a “blemish” or anyone make you feel worthless…always remember to SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND!

!!!We Sistahs Are On Fire!!!

We Sistahs are on fiyah!
Watch us as we burn through these trials
Infrared on living our purposed life out
Can’t let anyone bring us down
Cuz this flame is growing hotter and hotter…
We Sistahs are on fiyah!
Burning down obstacles,
Blazing trails that others can follow,
Flames so hot it turns the past to ash,
If you are next to us, you can catch fire in a flash…
Be careful though cuz it will either destroy you or refine you,
Light so bright, it illuminates a pathway or blinds you.

We Sistahs are on fiyah!

Watch us as we burn through these trials

Infrared on living our purposed life out

Can’t let anyone bring us down

Cuz this flame is growing higher and higher…

We Sistahs are on fiyah!

A crackling inferno,
Words giving off a warm glow,
With a soft but powerful flow,
Loving others with an intensity that makes our fire grow…
Yes, Sistah you’re on fiyah!
Flares surround us,
Smoke trails behind us,
Others try to extinguish us individually,
Only to become consumed by the heat,
Or combust into flames,
Inflamed to spread love like wildfires…
Ignited to serve others like a moth to a flame,
Temperature is rising…it’s time for a change

Ready to start a chain reaction?
Don’t be afraid of the flame,
let’s start a volcanic eruption,
and leave simmers of positive embers
in the wake of our entrance…
even our soot will shimmer!

We Sistahs are on fiyah!

Watch us as we burn through these trials

Infrared on living our purposed life out

Can’t let anyone bring us down

Cuz this flame is growing hotter and hotter…

We Sistahs are on fiyahhhhhhh!!!!!

Embracing the Valley…Wilder-walking!

6771_133749477649_1248712_nThis morning God said write about it so here I write. For the last six months I have been wilder-walking. Walking through the wilderness deep down in the valley of some sort of microcosm of my life.

One minute I was a successful Training Coordinator contracted under Homeland Security, I stepped out on faith and created a training seminar for customer service that I submitted to our International APCO Conference that was accepted.  I, Deserie Johnson was going to conduct not just any training seminar but my God-given training seminar on customer service at an International Conference. Whew, I was nervous and excited. I did it! Even though I am my own worst critic and thought I could have done better…the response of the participants was overwhelming.  It led to several other engagements and seminars.

I also was following God’s plan for my life releasing the book; Girl, Get Empty uplifting women & men and then continuing my own emptying process by taking things off of the shelf beginning with the subsequent release of my children’s book, NyAshia’s Freedom Ride after a 10yr shelf stint.  I know I heard God clearly in these areas and sales started out booming.

Then all of a sudden, almost in the blink of an eye…EVERYTHING STOPPED! I lost my job due to my health regressing. I wasn’t too upset about that because I held a high demanding job that required me to pretty much be on call 24/7 and do a lot of work from home which exacerbated and triggered the illnesses that I am challenged with. In other words, my body needed a break and I said I will take it and write.

Little did I know that book sales would come to a complete halt, speaking engagements would halt, any means of income I had would simply stop. In the meantime, I lost my home and my car and the bill collectors are not chasing me, they are running me down!!!!!! So I began wondering how I got here? How am I sitting on boxes of books that encourage and change lives and mine is slipping into the valley?

Well God answered me when I heard a message from the same scripture twice in one week from two different messengers:

Genesis 12
Amplified Bible (AMP)

12 Now [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.
2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].
3 And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and [a]curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had directed him; and Lot [his nephew] went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
5 Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the persons [servants] that they had acquired in Haran, and they went forth to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,
6 Abram passed through the land to the locality of Shechem, to the oak or terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, I will give this land to your posterity. So Abram built an altar there to the Lord, Who had appeared to him.
8 From there he pulled up [his tent pegs] and departed to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.
9 Abram journeyed on, still going toward the South (the Negeb).
10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram [b]went down into Egypt to live temporarily, for the famine in the land was oppressive (intense and grievous).
11 And when he was about to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, I know that you are beautiful to behold.
12 So when the Egyptians see you, they will say, This is his wife; and they will kill me, but they will let you live.
13 Say, I beg of you, that you are [c]my sister, so that it may go well with me for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.

These scriptures spoke to me in volumes because Abram ended up being a  man after God’s own heart but in this scripture, after God had given him the promise and he was merrily on his way…what happened to scare him into a lie? A famine! An oppressive, intense and grievous famine (quite like mine was beginning to look) and when He was about to enter into Egypt, he feared for his life…promise forgotten. Present circumstances took precedence and he could not tell the Egyptians that Sarai was his wife or they would kill him, or so he thought.  The lie was born. Doubt was set. Needless to say, it caused unnecessary drama in Egypt. Abraham’s lie shook Pharoah’s house with plagues from God!

Now in my situation when things began to stop, I certainly had thoughts of how I could make it work. And let me tell you, they were not all christian thoughts either.  My world was crashing down around me and I could not understand why.  I went to God like, “What’s up? REALLY???? I did what you told me. I was obedient. Father, how do I handle this? Where will I live? How am I going to help people in THIS situation?” I had a million questions before I broke down crying and then sat in silence. I was in the valley of Gerar.  The word “Gerar” means “to ruminate, brood, reflect, mull over in your mind some problem or thing that happened to you.” I mulled it over, reflected, brooded and realized that this was supernatural and all I heard was trust me.

I was lead to go back to my own book: Girl, Get Empty and realized immediately that I am still being emptied for HIS filling! That was a relief even though emptying still does not feel good while it is happening.

So I began walking in this new wilderness, one that I had never seen salt-death-valley-HD-Wallpapersbefore and it felt strange, somewhat lonely because I didn’t feel like anyone else understood what it felt like to be a published author with books piled up in storage and be penniless at the same time. As I am walking through this wilderness, God is literally providing manna for me day by day. My daughter and I moved together as roommates just as this was beginning and that was a sheer act of God because although I am no longer a homeowner, the home we live in now is bigger and more beautiful than my 1st home. I heard another message preached during this time, Never Before and Never Again and I kept saying that over and over in my head. Yes, I have been in a financial rut before but there were some vast differences in this situation. I had NEVER been here before!

Ok, this journey through the valley is dark because most times I was looking down.  After the 1st month in our new place, I had no idea how I was going to pay my portion of the rent & utilities.  God placed Earth Angels all around me in the form of family/friends and churches that chipped in and began paying my portion of the bills and buying us groceries EVERY MONTH for 6 whole months! The part I had to play was to TRUST HIM because every month, I never knew where that money was going to come from until the very last minute and I do mean the midnight hour! Sometimes I had to ask people to help, which if you knew me…you would know that too was an act of God because I like to help and I don’t like being in a position to ask for help.

See, God has to show me from time to time that we all need each other and it’s okay to ask for help even if all you can do is lift your hand in the air as a sign of surrender. When a person is drowning all that you can see to alert you of their drowning most times is their hands in the air so while I was in the valley, I learned to raise my hands in the air!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time near the month’s end I would get nervous just like the Israelites even though I just saw God work it out last month. Instead of getting excited to see how He was going to pull it off this time…I was like God, what you gonna do? I am the type of person that like to have everything planned out and I like to know what the probabilities are ahead of me. Well, you know what they say, “You want to make God laugh, show Him your plans”. I began to walk through the valley with a blindfold on learning to TRUST GOD every step of the way. Meditating on this and placing my name in wherever it fit:

Isaiah 43:2
The Message (MSG)

When You’re Between a Rock and a Hard Place

43 1-4 But now, God’s Message,

the God who made you in the first place, Deserie,

the One who got you started, Deserie:

“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.

I’ve called your name. You’re mine.

When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.

When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.

When you’re between a rock and a hard place,

it won’t be a dead end—

Because I am God, your personal God,

The Holy of Israel, your Savior.

I paid a huge price for you:

all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!

That’s how much you mean to me!

That’s how much I love you!

I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,

trade the creation just for you.

Now that I am home all day everyday, what do I do with myself? I haven’t really felt the urge to write. I don’t want to write. I decide to surf the internet. I found an interest in do it yourself (DIY) projects and feel an inner push to start a project.  So during this time, I find that craigslist has FREE items on there and I pick some up. Also, I had a few friends/family that would drop me a few dollars to hold me and I would purchase spray paint, small thrift store items, etc. Before you know it I am knee deep in DIY projects and I found a new love turning trash to treasure.  Not to mention, I am decorating my house on pennies (teeheee). I learned the value of a dollar when I didn’t have any.

My chair reupholstery projectWilder-walking has taught me how to appreciate the quiet time because during these projects God speaks to me. This chair in particular turned out to be my most challenging task.  I had to strip this chair completely, taking some of the wood pieces apart and everything before placing my new fabric on it.  I could hear God saying that is what I have to do to you. I am stripping you completely and rebuilding you from the inside out. When people see you, they will not be able to see the you, you used to be; all they will see is ME!

432308_10151359909127650_542816243_nI bought this table and three chairs from a guy for $15 and he said what do you plan to do with it? I told him I would make it my dining room table and he laughed saying, “I don’t know how you gonna do that with this raggedy table, this was my card table” and I told him I wish you could see it when I’m finished…you will want it back! When I finished this table and saw how beautiful it was, I remembered how people viewed me in the past and said I wouldn’t amount to anything. They deemed me as trash but THANK GOD for seeing me as treasure. No one would look at this table and call it raggedy now and I bet that guy I bought it from wouldn’t even recognize it.

I am spending more time with friends and family and I am now legally declared disabled.  I am helping out a friend by answering her phones well, truth be told it really helps both of us because it allows me to help out someone else, to get out of the house and hey, iron sharpens iron and all of my friends are iron clad!  I am continuing to find more and more DIY projects and now I find myself in the valley of Jericho beginning my climb up Mt. Nebo. The word “Nebo” means “prophecy” and in Proverbs 29:18

The Message (MSG)

18 If people can’t see what God is doing,

they stumble all over themselves;

But when they attend to what he reveals,

they are most blessed.

“Jericho”  means “fragrance.” Now I imagine a vision from God is going to give off a good fragrance which is what draws the masses. Vision builds hope and gives guidance. Vision renews and sets you in alignment with your path.  God has been sending me glimpses and I am having visions. When I reach the top of Mt. Nebo I am certain that God will make good on His promises.

death_valley_02Hold up…this valley is starting to look beautiful, the trees are really big, tall and strong. The mountains are absolutely gorgeous and the streams, the streams are a pretty green flowing along effortlessly.  As I climb Mt. Nebo,  I notice that I can see things that I couldn’t see while I was deep in the valley like how beautiful the landscape is down there.  Yes, the valley isn’t a bad place after all.  I have learned that it is our training ground.  It is where we learn who we really are and what we are made of… if we endure. Oooh chile, and the muscles you strengthen will carry you and so many others. Some don’t make it out of the valley but that’s not my story and it doesn’t have to be your story either. Today, I heard God say to me to write and so I did. He also said to me and I leave this with you as well:

Isaiah 60:1
Amplified Bible (AMP)

60 Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!

Everything Needs Love…

everything needs loveWhen I awoke this morning I noticed my plant looked like I feel some mornings…beat down, worn out, like I am carrying the world on my shoulders. I had to think; when was the last time I watered her, talked to her, nurtured her?

I began talking (yes, talking to my plant) as I checked out her leaves, felt her soil for moisture, moved her around a bit. I then watered her soil, sprayed some water on her and simply loved on her apologizing for being too busy and neglecting her.

Of course, God began to speak to me about several things (yall know He speaks to me at the most oddest times, lol):

1) Sometimes all it takes is to remember a saying from our grandparents; “have a little talk with Jesus and everything’s gonna be alright.” I know it sounds simple and sometimes it really is THAT simple. Just ask yourself, “When did I last just give it all to God?” Easier said than done but once you do it and believe it…things begin to perk up immediately. Don’t get so busy trying to solve your problems that you fail to consult THE PROBLEM SOLVER!

2) We all have days when we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders and it is during those times we have to stop and question ourselves. When was the last time I just took a walk, read a book, went to see my favorite movie, lit some candles with some music playing and just danced? When was the last time I loved on me? So often we get bogged down with the circumstances that life throw our way,  we don’t even think to just…breathe. The bills will be there, the job will be there, the situations will be there but if you don’t take some “me” time and take care of you mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally…YOU WON’T!

3) Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of relationships! Friends/family are the closest things to GOD! I tell you if it had not been for my friends and family I would probably be in an insane asylum somewhere! They have come in like bulldozers at times and lifted that weight right up off of my shoulders! I call them my Earth Angels! Sure, there are times I catch myself starting to wallow buried under this weight and isolation feels good but notice I said “catch myself” because isolation is not a good place to be under all that weight…YOU SUFFOCATE!

The moral of all of this is when you feel that crushing weight…bust out from under it with Prayer. Do something loving for YOU. Call your EARTH ANGEL(s). Do not become so busy that you neglect your God, yourself or your friends/family because I’m sure you are someone else’s Earth Angel as well. Remember: Everything needs love… and everything you do or don’t do is a reflection of how you love you! ~ Sanjo Jendayi

P.S.

By 5pm, as you can see, my baby was perky as can be… all shiny and pretty which was Lily’s way of smiling at me.  Have a great weekend…til next time.
