It pays to ask the tough questions… of your characters

So, I was reading this blog post by Kristen Lamb, and I got to thinking what a good exercise it would be to ask my own characters the questions near the bottom of the post. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent a whole book and nearly a half with these guys, I know them pretty […]

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Headless Chickens: George

I’ve been a bit busy today, and didn’t get around to scheduling this, so it’s late… but here’s a Kiwi song from yesteryear… I highly recommend looking up “Donde Esta La Pollo” and “Mr Moon” by these guys, too… but I couldn’t find them on Youtube. If you’re a Kiwi artist and happen to stumble […]

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Strawpeople: Trick With A Knife

An oldie, but a goodie. The Strawpeople, featuring Fiona McDonald, who was more well-known for her work with the Headless Chickens (another band I intend to showcase this month). This song itself isn’t in my writing playlist, but it certainly has a relevant title!

Music: New Zealand Music Month – AHoriBuzz: Turnaround

I came across this song a few months ago when I was looking for a song to submit to The Countdown competition and fell in love with it immediately, I mean, listen to that bass! Funky as. I always buy the music I choose to promote through The Countdown. Unfortunately, this one was only available […]

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Phoenix Foundation: Hitchcock

They have the word “phoenix” in their name… that automatically makes them cool. And this song is neat, too.

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Kimbra: Come Into My Head

Remember that song, Somebody That I Used To Know…? Yeah, that one. And remember the chick in the video…? Yeah, her. Well, she did this rather cool song and popping video… I’m a bit of a fan.

A Review: Healer’s Touch

Oh my… That is all I can say. Honestly, when I read reviews like this, it makes me wish I could read the book the way readers can. Healer’s Touch is a mix of romance, steampunk and high fantasy done the right way and written in just the right kind of style. I have to [...]

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Goodnight Nurse: Milkshake

Ignore the video, it’s a bit average, but there is no official one. I saw these guys live once. They did this song. I laughed. It was awesome.

Book Spotlight: Guardians of Evion by Evelinn Enoksen

I know that if you hang out around my blog you probably like reading, or maybe music… hopefully both. In the spirit of encouraging the former (again), I’m going to shine my spotlight on fellow Kristell Ink author, Evelinn Enoksen’s recently released title Guardians of Evion. Here’s the good stuff: Numak believes his destiny is [...]

Music: New Zealand Music Month – Netherworld Dancing Toys: For Today

When I think of New Zealand music in the ’80s, I can’t go past this song: This song and the songs Dave Dobbyn did for the Footrot Flats movies…
