A NEW "JOB"

The truth is like many of you, I used to write a BOOK REVIEW from time to time when we felt like it. However, recently I’ve received a windfall of 11 FREE BOOKS books from RaffleCopter GiveAways, Flash GiveAways, and GiveAways from GoodReads.

While it’s great having won these books there’s an “obligation” now to review them; as GoodReads states on their site regarding books won. To break it down, I’ve won four e-books, seven paperbacks; four of them had been signed, and of the remaining three, two are ARCs [Advanced Reader’s Copies] with one of them due to be released on October 9th of this year.

So naturally, with this amount of books on my plate to be read, I figure it became time to tell everyone what I'm up to as far as my second career as an author [MG-YA / Paranormal Romance] is concerned.

Have SUCCESS with whatever you do in your career. !!! :-) :-) :-)

P S – Please DO NOT SEND me any requests to review your book, as I’m not accepting any except for those I happen to win in these GiveAways here on GoodReads [especially] and elsewhere.

FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Marriage

This week Lillie McFerrin gave us the prompt of “MARRIAGE” on her website [http://www.lilliemcferrin.com]; and as I down this morning to think about what I should write about, the thought of simply posting a small snippet of my W.I.P came to me.

I’m now over 90% completed writing my adult Contemporary romance with a paranormal element running through parts of the storyline entitled “His Darkest Secret.”

In this snippet Jessica is sitting in the huge leather chair in her office/den as she quietly holds the old picture of Bill on first day on the job as a volunteer firefighter, wearing his jacket and helmet. She closes her eyes while holding the picture next to her heart, falls asleep, and begins to dream of what her life would have been like if Bill hadn’t died in the tragic fire on Oak Street. She remained sleeping in her chair until six o’clock when Gloria came in to wake her for dinner.

THOUGHTS ABOUT BILL AS I’M ABOUT TO MARRY WARREN

I know I’m marrying Warren tomorrow, but I so wish it would have been you such a long time ago.

I don’t know how you’ve done it but you’ve kept the promise you made to me the day you died about always being there for me, especially when I’d need it the most.

I still can’t believe it, but it’s incredible there have been so many similarities regarding the three of us, especially the coincidence of Warren having used the same song for his wedding with Linda; that we’d decided to use for ours.

I also know your spirit will be there with me tomorrow, watching as I walk down the white aisle to be married to the wonderful guy you sent me to be your substitute. As I sit here, thinking about all this, I sense you’re be sending me another one of your mysterious letters which always proceeds some important event in my life, and what event could be more important in my life than my wedding day.

FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Doors

GETTING A SECOND CHANCE

D orothy and her two friends had been captured by a wicked sorcerer, and were told they could each have a chance for freedom if they’d separate and go their separate ways by opening one of three DOORS through which they’d have to walk through.

O pening DOOR number three her friend Lillie walked through and quickly disappeared.

O pening DOOR number one her friend Robin Leigh walked through and likewise disappeared.

R eluctant to open the remaining DOOR, Dorothy finally opened it and walked through it as well.

S urprised by seeing her two friends at the other end, they immediately agreed to choose the other path in the woods which they’d first come to at the fork in the road, instead of the one which had lead them to the sorcerer’s castle the first time.

Notice the acrostic format I used in writing this for the prompt word of "DOORS."

FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Freedom

BECOMING AN AUTHOR, BUT AT WHAT COST ???

F ledgling romance Author Cindy Madison had always dreamt of meeting a romance author who’s famous.

R eceiving an invitation from Liz Whippet she didn’t hesitate to meet for some coffee and pie at Liz’s home.

E ntering the abode she got enthralled by the furnishings.

E leven hours later she woke to find ten other women slaving away at computers writing romance stories of every genre.

DOM inating the room she saw an Amazon with a whip continuously yelling, “Finish typing those five romances if you want ‘The Mistress’ to give you your FREEDOM !!!.”

Notice the acrostic format I used for the prompt word of "FREEDOM."

[The names use here at purely fictitious. Any connection with anyone living or dead is pure coincidence.]

FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Lucky

This week Lillie McFerrin gave her readers the prompt word of “LUCKY” for which they’re required to write a Five Sentence Flash Fiction, here is my response.

Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

Janice never seemed to have any luck going back as far as her college years.

Although she had been voted the homecoming queen, she never could get the attention of the best looking guy on campus; instead he went for the plainest looking co-ed, who he ultimately married.

At a supermarket due to her kindest she allowed a senior citizen with four items go ahead of her on the line who won the $10,000 prize for being the store’s 1,000,000th customer.

The same thing happened at the stationery store when a senior citizen bought the instant lottery ticket she wanted to buy and won the Grand Prize.

However, today, as she read the morning paper, Janice smiled from ear to ear, because the guy she didn’t married and his wife got arrested for running a $50 million Ponzi scheme.

WHAT AM I WRITING RIGHT NOW !!!

This past week has been quite fruitful.

To begin with I’ve actually begun writing the YA Fantasy romance I’d mentioned last week when I stated I’m merely creating an outline for it. From the looks of things, this endeavor will in all probability will develop into a novella of about 34,000 to 37,000 words. Right now the stats are one-and-a half chapter completed, with seven pages and approximately 1,750 words, which now brings the total numbers of WIPs I’m working on at the same time to four.

When I mention my stats I mean what each of endeavors would look like if it actually had been a book: Single-spaced, 6” x 9” inch pages with book-looking margins, appropriate page headers and numbers on each page].

In addition, after over three months of dormancy I’ve finally made progress in my second WIP, an adult Contemporary with a paranormal element running through parts of the storyline, entitled “His Darkest Secret.” In the past week I’ve managed to write an entire chapter consisting of five pages and almost 1,500 words; which bring the total for his endeavor to a total of 35 Chapters, 239 pages with approximately 69,875 words.

My anthology of Flash Fiction is up to 79 items with 4 new ones having been written in the past week.

For my third project, a NA Contemporary entitled “It Had All Been a Game”, I’ve completed a second chapter, which brings the stats to two completed chapters, 18 pages and approximately 5,840 words.

Five Sentence Fiction - MOMENTS

ODE TO MY WONDERFUL WIFE

MO urning the loss of my sweet darling wife these past seven days has totally exhausted me.

ME ntioning her wonderful traits when I speak to others I no longer have the ability to cry because the reservoir of my tears has dried up.

N ever again shall I be able to caress her ivory body or kiss her soft tender red lips.

T he wonderful MOMENTS that we shared will always be an essential part of my being.

S o how can I search for someone else as others have suggested, when there’s no one else who would even come close to the way she and I have always been; a couple whose union could only have been made in Heaven?

Notice the acrostic format I used in writing this for the prompt word of MOMENTS.
