How to do writing sprints...

Hi and welcome back to my small corner of the webiverse. My name is T.C. Clark and I’m an author. I spend all of my free time trying to create worlds that readers want to visit. This act takes a lot of time and a bit of hard work.I am a novice at this writing game and at times find it almost impossible to do.I believe I find it hard to get started because of how much work it takes to create. I find myself facing resistance even though this is something that I truly love.I have to write on the edges of my day as I have a full time job and a full time life. So I needed to figure out away to produce my words while maintaining my sanity and voila there it was….writing sprints.Writing sprints are specified time periods where a person writes uninterrupted until the sprint is completed. This time is up to the writer. I know writers who do hour long writing sprints and I also know ones that do theirs in five minutes. For me fifteen is the magic number. This gives me more than enough time to get started and a small enough time that in turn makes me want to write long after the timer has beeped. I’m completing my current novella by doing four fifteen minute sprints a day. This method has helped because it permits me to focus for a certain period of time, thus allowing my brain to enter into the creative flow state. To say this is a game changer is an understatement. Practicing this method has massively cut down on the stress associated with my daily word count goals. I monitor my sprints and track my word counts to see if I can make any changes to improve my productivity. If you attempt this, start small. The more success you have the more likely you are to turn this into a daily habit. We all know that building a daily writing habit can make it possible for you to become more prolific and with more words...comes more readers. If you are struggling with reaching a certain word count goal maybe you could try this method out. Let me know if you do in the comments below. Good luck and happy writing :)

The low down on writing sprints...

Hiya bookworms, so I know what your thinking what in the freak are writing sprints? This method helped me when I was trying to increase my productivity as a writer. I struggled with reaching word count goals and the more I stressed about obtaining them the worst it got.Now there is one major thing you should know about me when I get super stressed I shut down. I’m talking about a full-blown survival of the fittest type of shutdown. I’m pretty sure its a defensive mechanism but it's a pretty big character flaw for sure and it definitely has hurt my writing over the years.Right now I’m out of school and I have the time to tackle this writing thing. Yet I still struggled with putting pen to paper, the stress of producing content to publish under a public name got to me and I was right back to where I started.I had countless stories and various dialogs running through my head but when I sat down to write, I drew a blank. So I searched for a way for me to not only manage my time better but also to produce written words as quickly and as efficiently as possible. I came across this term, “writing sprints,” and I thought, that’s it.Writing Sprints are when you sit and write for a designated time without stopping. It works best if you just continue to write during that time without pausing to correct grammar or story mistakes. I found that if I timed my writing and forgot about the word count it would eliminate the stress of producing a certain amount of words and that would allow my stories to flow freely. So I started it at just 30 minutes a day at first and that got me 500 words (at least) per day and then I slowly started to increase the amount of sprints I did daily while maintaining the timed window at 30 minutes. Even now my minimum is one writing sprint a day and I typically complete that on my lunch break.I wanted to introduce this method to you because it helped to change the way I write and actually helped my writing process go a lot smoother. So eliminate the stress and throw out the word count goals, pull out a timer, and get to writing.

Introducing: The Invisible Writer Gazette

Hiya and welcome to the wonderful world of, “The Invisible Writer Gazette,” this blog has went through many changes or as I like to call them transitions. See if you call something a transition... people won’t judge you or so they say :) Anyway I’ve decided to go back to my roots and change the blog back to its original name. The content will be as varied as my mental state. Just to be clear my mind is a jumble of fiction and nonfiction with just a dash of YouTube so you know that means that I can be ALOT.I plan on producing at least a couple of blog posts a week on varied subjects the focus will be mostly on writing, frugality, mental health, mindfulness, and time management. I hope you will join me on my journey to creating a happy life filled with many days of writing and mental prosperity. If you are one of my five readers (hi, mom) you may be asking yourself why the change in the name and focus? One day I woke up and realized I was unhappy and I wasn’t sure how I got to that state. I’ve spent the last year examining my life to find out what was missing (I think everyone should do that from time to time). Just do it…. take a day and take stock of your mental health and determine if you are truly content with where you are and what you’re doing. Always remember time is finite and we have to use it wisely.I want to be an example to people who are seeking to change their life into exactly what they want it to be. I believe through hard work and practice we all can reach our goals and aspirations. So join me here if you would like to hear my thoughts and witness my attempts at building a life filled with lots of written words, fantastic stories, and lots of love :)
