I fell in love with storytelling as a child when my paternal grandmother regaled us with stories of what it was like to come to Louisiana from the hills of Appalachia and set up house in a tent with a dirt floor. On the other side of the family tree, my paternal grandfather, a people loving preacher, was known for using humor to draw his listeners to Jesus. It's safe to say the two of them marked me. Whether in my books, speaking before audiences, or dropping a segment on The Story Table podcast I created, I love nothing more than helping hungry hearts feast on Jesus through humor and storytelling. ~Shellie

Farming is dangerous but God is good!

I need to testify tonight, and it may be a long read but I post a lot about our way of life, and for the most part, it’s good and I mean everything I say. We love it. But, I rarely talk about the challenges of farming, the low commodity prices, the incredibly long hours, and the dangers involved in bringing crops to market. This may surprise you, but farming is one of the most dangerous occupation

“One, just one, but definitely one of the great benefits of private prayer is that you can’t hide from your motives. In corporate prayer, we can sound like “all that”. We can blow Jesus smoke like nobody’s bizness in a crowd but, get alone with Him, and He won’t let you get away with the fake stuff. Try blowing Jesus smoke in your prayer closet and you’ll cough on it every time. Truth? That penetrating gaze of His hurts, but afterwards, it never fails to heal.”

“All the building tools you and I will ever need are found between the pages of His living Word and in listening to His Spirit who comes to live in us.”

You are most welcome, Diana! I opened my goodreads account a while back but I haven't had much time to spend exploring it. I'm sure there are plenty of southerners, here, too. One day I hope to find time to pull 'em all together.:) Blessings~
