Naomi confesses that the best word to describe her is: whimsical. Forget about “the girl next door” and think more along the lines of “the girl from the next galaxy over” and you’d be closer to the correct personality categorization. She is an unequivocal day-dreamer, anime enthusiast, partisan of fantastical things, and unshakable devotee to story-telling.

When not immersed in her written and illustrative projects, Naomi can be found wandering the worlds created by others, either between the pages of a book or across the sweeping scapes of console games. Part geek, part monster-slayer, with a heart for the pure and the wondrous, Naomi endeavours to remind people that a little bit of beautiful strangeness is a good thing to have in this craz

I love the process involved with characterization; discovering personalities and back-stories so different from my own, and yet born from somewhere deep inside me.(less)

Surround yourself with fellow writers, whether that be a local writers group, or an online community.

Don't be afraid to ask questions (even the dumb ones). The writing community is full of information and individuals who love to help their fellow creative souls. Ask away! Ask away!

Do what you love, not what you think others will love. If you try to please others, you will only end up unhappy because you can't please everyone, and the one who will end up displeased the most in the end is yourself.

Don't compare yourself or your work with others. Comparison is a demon that will tear your dreams to pieces if you let it. Never doubt your uniqueness. Only you can write what you will write.(less)

Gothic Novel “Blithesoth Manor” First Draft Complete!

Here I am again, at the surreal interlude after typing those deliciously satisfying words “The End” on the last page of my draft document. I love this feeling. It’s so mentally satisfying and rewarding. The sweet spot between completing (the … Continue reading →

Topics Mentioning This Author

J.R.R. Tolkien
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it's very difficult to find anyone.'
I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

Peter S. Beagle
“You were the one who taught me," he said. "I never looked at you without seeing the sweetness of the way the world goes together, or without sorrow for its spoiling. I became a hero to serve you, and all that is like you.”
Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

“And remember, the truth that once was spoken: To love another person is to see the face of God.”
Herbert Kretzmer

Cressida Cowell
“However small we are, we should always fight for what we believe to be right. And I don’t mean fight with the power of our fists or the power of our swords…I mean the power of our brains and our thoughts and our dreams.

And as small and quiet and unimportant as our fighting may look, perhaps we might all work together…and break out of the prisons of our own making. Perhaps we might be able to keep this fierce and beautiful world of ours as free for all of us as it seemed to be on that blue afternoon of my childhood.”
Cressida Cowell, How to Speak Dragonese

R.A. Salvatore
“No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith.”
R.A. Salvatore, Streams of Silver
