Inspiration

"You might draw, or paint, or write, or blog. Everyone has their thing. When your thing starts suddenly becoming about them, you might love them."

6 Signs You Might Be In Love

Tonight, for the first time in forever I find myself unable to stop writing, creating, designing. I know why and I know who drove me to this madness at 4:44 AM. I've been craving and yearning for it for nearly two years, and tonight the passion, creativity and ingenuity runs through me like blood runs through our veins.

How beautiful is it that another human being can bring forth so much passion and drive? It's inspiration at it's finest. It's yet another sign that we're all connected in some way, shape, or form. That connection can be ever so painful; yet nights like this I find myself thankful for what it's doing to me.

Who inspires you? What inspires you? What makes "passion flow through you like a river of blood"? Harness it. Never let it go. It's a rarity.

XO

The Paradoxical Commandments

I cannot take credit for these-- had them saved on my hard drive, stumbled upon them and realized how I truly need to start living my life like this.

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.

Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.

Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.

Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.

Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.

Give the world the best you have anyway.

Welcome to New York. It's Been Waiting For You.

Once upon a time, a seventeen year old girl was preparing for her high school graduation. She had the world at her fingertips and had big plans for her future. Three months before she put on her cap and gown, her world was turned upside down when she became extremely sick and unhealthy. Years of close calls, pain, and discomfort were about to cloud her path, yet all she begged her parents for were to let her go to New York City with her best friends before their graduation day. The girl should have been a lawyer, because she was able to argue her point to her parents that she should be able to live life to it's fullest before things got worse...and that was before YOLO was a thing.

Anyway. Back to this heartfelt story:

They let her go despite everything.

The girl saw New York City.

She sang along to a Broadway Show.

She stood in silence where the Twin Towers fell.

She got chased out of Central Park for buying a knock off Gucci purse thinking it was the real thing.

She spent her college textbook budget shopping on 5th Avenue.

She danced in Times Square with her best friend at 4 a.m.

She made memories.

She found her wings.

She fell in love.

She lived.

On the day they were set to head home, the girl took in the Manhattan skyline one more time, and vowed to return; not as a vacationer, but as a woman ready to live out a dream that was dreamt during her stay.

She dreamt of success, of fame, she dreamt she was a part of the city that never sleeps. She promised herself she'd make it happen.

And so she did, nearly ten years later-- but she did it.

In case you haven't figured it out, that girl was me.

Duh.

I'm so thrilled to announce that this IS THE YEAR I'll be taking on the Big Apple and a dream marketing job I couldn't be more excited for

From now until May/June-ish, Michigan will get to have me for the majority of the time while I make the gradual transition out there to the city of my dreams.

I'll also be FINALLY releasing my novel "Where Hope Lies" before officially heading out there, but what a place to promote my book as it also makes it's way across the web via Amazon.com (Paperback + Kindle) and Barnes and Noble Nook Store.

2015, I am SO incredibly excited for you.

" She believed she could-- and so she did."

Introducing...Me.

*Reader's Note* This post will be available on the "About Me" link as I continue to write. Figured it would be a great first post though. :)

Life has dealt me quite the hand. I'm nearly 27, yet many days I feel I've already lived the life of a 40-something year old.

I've loved, I've lost-- now I'm finally living.

Born and raised in Chicago, spent my adolescence in West Michigan where I continue to reside while crossing off the days in my Kate Spade planner waiting for my big move to, wait for it: New York City.  I have plenty of social networks, guest blogs, and websites across the web for work projects and ventures but I wanted a place where I could personally blog and have a social "hub" with everything going on as we head into 2015. It's about to be quite the ride, so buckle up.

If you're looking for a summary of Hope Alcocer in 140 characters or less you may want to head over and read my Instagram or Twitter bio, I know you're busy.

Otherwise, let me introduce myself: I'm Hope. Please don't mistake my name for Faith, or Grace, or Greed or one of the other virtues. Also if you're looking to use my name as some sort of pun to ask me out or sleep with me, please note those plots have already been attempted and shot down immediately. I was given this name when I was born (no shit) -- the same time my dad was sick with leukemia. They had "hope" during that difficult time. Mom and Dad had "hope" he'd make it and see his baby girl grow up. God had better things planned for him though, like watching his only daughter grow up from a front row seat up there in heaven. Until it's my turn to chill up there with him, I try every single day to make him proud by giving life and love 100% every chance I get.

I'm a big believer in the power of positivity and greeting each day like it's your last. Ten years ago, I had a freak incident which left me with brain damage and a mile-high list of health issues that effected so much more than just my physical being. When doctors told me I'd never fully recover and they couldn't offer to me, I decided it was time to take control of my life and heal from the inside out through the power of positive thinking, speaking, and healthy living. I stand before you today (actually I'm sitting on a bar stool but you get it) as changed person from head to toe and completely recovered. I beat so many odds, proved them all wrong, and I'm living life to the fullest.

I absolutely love life. It's beautiful, simply beautiful.

I've spent the last five years as an independent contractor + entrepreneur running my own media firm working on projects in the areas of things such as: writing, event planning, social media, promotions, public relations, and marketing. My clients + projects were in the fashion, wedding, and lifestyle industries for the majority of my career, however the last two years I have been transitioning over more into the entertainment industry.  My "office" is whatever coffee shop I decide to make home for the day. I love my job, and I consider it a privilege to be able to do what I do every single day all while enjoying it AND getting paid for it. I'm blessed. So incredibly blessed.

Speaking of blessed, I think my greatest blessing would have to be my family. I have them to thank for the woman I am today. They're my rock, my everything, and I am privileged to have been born into this beautiful family. You'll get to know my family more and more as I write the happenings + adventures our family of five has. I'm still waiting for E! or ABC Family to approach us about a reality TV series or something. We're quite the bunch.

On my "off" time, you'll find me getting ready to release my first fictional novel, Where Hope Lies this year, studying as I attempt finish my fitness and nutrition trainer certification, and putting my wedding/event planning certification (and failed love life) to good use by getting my bridal consulting venture in front of a national bridal audience. Please keep in mind this all being done with a continual stream of music playing and another pot of coffee brewing all the while.

So...Welcome, my darlings. I'm glad you're here. I'll be writing on my daily musings, recipes, ideas, and milestones on this beautiful journey we call the year of 2015.
