Celebrating 11 Years on my Author Journey
Hello, readers!
As we look forward to Canadian Thanksgiving this Monday, I find myself reflecting on the many blessings in my life. I am very thankful for my author career and the technology and platforms that allow me to interface with you, my readers. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey!
October also marks the anniversary of my first novel being published. Eleven years ago, Looking Over Your Shoulder made its debut into the world, and what a remarkable journey it has been since then! I have since published another 117 books. In honor of this milestone, I’ve refreshed the cover of Looking Over Your Shoulder.

I really liked the description of mental illness in this book and living with a person like that. I’m a nurse, not a specialist in a psychiatry but from what I know it is pretty accurate portrayal of a schizophrenic person. The mystery alone was very compelling, I only guessed half of the riddle so the reveal at the end surprised me. It was a great novel!
Another great thing about this book was the main character, Abe. He was a likeable star, at least in my opinion. He has playful banters with his children, and the schizophrenia part of his character was done very well.
Will he uncover the truth before it’s too late? This compelling tale masterfully weaves themes of mental health with a riveting mystery that keeps readers guessing until the very last page!

When I wrote Shattered to Death, I needed a trigger to explain Rhys’s emotional breakdown/fugue state that led to his hospitalization and further treatment as part of that storyline. It wasn’t hard to imagine that he coul dhav ebeen sent a picture that might have upset him. .There are frequently stories in the news about violent pictures being shared among teenagers in particular.
The picture that Rhys received was particularly triggering because of the similarity in the cause of death with that of his grandfather, a murder which he had witnessed and had left him traumatized for many years.
By the end of Shattered to Death, I knew that Kenzie was going to need to solve the murder of this unknown victim. Not an easy task, when she didn’t even have the body.
Pictures shared on social media have provided the key to solving many cases. they are especially helpful if there are identifiable locations in the background or have attached metadata. Unfortunately, many social media platforms automatically strip this information out, as does capturing a screenshot from SnapChat or one of the many other photosharing apps.
In this case, Kenzie also has to find convincing evidence that the apparent victim in the picture is the actual victim of an actual murder. With stage makeup and/or the increasingly convincing photo-editing and photo-generating tools available, this part of the case may prove to be quite the challenge!

I’m not sure whether I’ve read any books in the other series, but I have read at least one other in the Scottish Bookshop Mysteries, possibly two.
In this installment, bookshop employee Delaney Nichols finds herself unexpectedly leading a literary tour group in Edinburgh after her boss falls victim to a theft—though the specifics remain murky at this point.
