Making a Friend
Well it’s been almost two years as I ran out of room on my blog (I have a free account). I’ve deleted some posts and non-essential pictures, and in so doing wanted to make space on this blog for this. It’s quite rare. Lately I’ve made a little friend. He’s a Hermit Thrush; a shy […]

After The Rains
We here in California have been having some very unusual rains. Pounding down cloudbursts. Likely linked to Climate Change. But I won’t get into that. Even though we don’t own this place, I’ve been on a planting spree here. Twelve trees and a bunch of shrubs. All told it comes to almost fifty plants. Since […]

Funny
I’ve saved these cartoons for years. They seemed particularly poignant, if perhaps a bit cynical (yet right on) to me. But they made me laugh. Hmm, laughter seems to be laughing at mistakes made, whether human or not. We find them funny, somehow. I wonder why? Anyway see what you think. Note: Click to enlarge.

Before Opalescence
Found this on my computer. It’s pre-Opalescence. I guess I was thinking about this for awhile. I remember I posted it on a website where people were wondering about some mysterious fossilized footprints or other. “Actually, I made those prints just last week. Let me explain. You see, I have a time machine; I’m not […]

Rainy Daze
It’s so rare that rain occurs in California, but it’s happening now. I love it! It’s so gentle and peaceful. It seems that all the conflict and chaos in the world ends when mother nature takes over. 🙂 So, at least for the moment, can we just let sleeping dogs lie?

Opalescence is free!
For two weeks, that is. This is Smashwords annual 2 week end of year book sale, running from December 15 to January 1, 2023. You can make an ebook (already pretty cheap anyway) 75%, 50%, 25%, off – or even free, as I did. We’ve all been through sooo much (I’m no exception, I can […]

The Elephant in the Room
(This is a copy of a page) Here’s a subject that I’ve avoided directly addressing because it’s so controversial (for some reason). In fact, everybody is nervously not seeing it. The elephant in the room. Wow! There’s now 8,000,000,000 of us on this planet! We have stop growing for the earth’s and other species sake! […]

Willow Spring
Not to be confused with the Willow Spring Figueroa Trail or the Willow Spur trail, also in the Los Padres Mtns. Went for a hike yesterday with my daughter to a place I’ve not gone before, which is surprising when you consider all the times I’ve hiked other trails around here. It was lovely. It’s […]

My Walking Stick(s)
Actually, I would rather have had only one, because it would be like my right arm by now. Lots of stories I suspect. But it was taken. Let me explain. I had originally one that I got from a favorite place to hike a long time ago. Stoney Creek, it was called. The trail where […]
