Back to work!
I have finally been able to return to working, though I admit I still ache. I am currently working on multiple projects, all of which are now behind due to my injury. However, rather than complain about how bad it is, I choose to remind myself that it could have been worse, and for many people it has been. I was fortunate not to have been hurt worse.
I am currently at work on the next Fire novel, so far entitled ‘Embers’, the third Stormcrow novel, which I have yet to decide on a title for ( I have three choices at present, all of which I like). There are also two other projects that I work on when I’m stuck, but they are not priorities at the moment.
Lastly, for those asking about a Billy sequel, I am trying to work on an outline that will let me tell a good story while being true to the original. It’s two steps forward and one back at the moment, or at least that’s what it seems like. At this point, I’m going to stop commenting on it, probably, rather than continue ‘teasing’ readers with something I may never be able to get off the ground. It’s unfair. My last word on it, other than in reply to questions, is that I’m trying to, and I hope to be able to pull it off, at least at some point.
I can’t believe it’s May already. No idea where the time goes.
Enjoy your summer!

Where I Stand
Probably should have said ‘where I lie’ instead.
Where have I been? Well, truth is, I got sick, and then, I had an accident. I am bruised from one end to the other and pretty much housebound for the time being. Recovering, at least I hope/think so, and so do my medical ‘advisers’, all of whom are grateful to me for providing their children with tuition for their first years of college. (Sarcasm, but not much )
Anyway, that’s where I stand, or lie, and why there’s been no update. I am at least able to sit and work for short periods now, so that’s a win I will gladly accept. Meanwhile, I hope all of you are well, and that Spring will be kinder to you this year than last.
Thanks!

UPDATE on Parno paperback prints
Thanks to a couple readers I was made aware yesterday that Parno #5 was not available in print. When I looked, I noted that neither was #3 or #4, for that matter. I sent a message to the publisher, who looked into the matter at once and discovered that for whatever unknown reason, the edits for the print version had been rejected. Usually that means that the publisher is notified of the action, and the reason, and told to resubmit when the ‘problem’ is fixed.
In this case, however, my publisher received no such notice, and so we thought the book was there and available for print-on-demand. The publisher has reached out to Amazon to find out what the problem is, and will then have it repaired, or whatever, as soon as possible. From what I understand it could be anything from the page count to the type face to any of several other reasons, and I do not presume to know them all.
For those who waited so long for this information, I apologize. I simply didn’t see the messages until yesterday and my publisher, as I noted early, had not been notified there was an issue, which normally means they were accepted.
I hope that the issue will be resolved soon, and that your patience might be with us a bit longer as we try to deal with it.
Thanks to those who noted the problem and took the time to let me know. Had I not seen your messages, I’d still not be aware.

Living in a crazy world
Where to begin. No idea.
I have not been on the web in any real volume in some months. For the most part, this has simply been a lack of time. I have too little of it and too much to spend it on, as I’m sure most of you encounter as well. Add to that the increasing level of crazy around us and the level of hostility in the air and it’s difficult not to get caught in that web.
So we avoid the web altogether, I guess, which is the smart thing to do, no doubt. But that also means that I fall behind in communications such as comments here or on Facebook or perhaps on my email. Not because I have no interest in those things, but because I genuinely lose track of how much time is passing. I’m so busy that one day runs into another and I don’t do an adequate job of keeping up to date.
I admit that often this is because I’m writing, but that’s not a real excuse, in all honesty. If I’m going to keep this blog, then I need to keep it up. So, for the umpteenth time, I’m going to attempt to make regular entries, even if they’re boring. No promises, mind, and no guarantees, because I might not be able to live up to them, but just the intent to do so.
Maybe we can all leave the craziness of this world behind us for just a little while each week or so. Please be safe, and I hope you are all dealing with this mess as well as you possibly can. Take care, until next time,

When does the “Fire” go out?
I thought I would make this post to clarify something with regards to Fire From the Sky. More than once someone has commented that they hoped the series wasn’t finished, and I noted a comment this time that I had said ‘next’ rather than ‘last’. While Parno was always intended to tell a story and be finished, Fire From the Sky is different. Always intended to be an open-ended series, Fire From the Sky has no projected end as such. Basically, the series will continue so long as I can continue to interject fresh story ideas, and so long as you, the readers, enjoy it. I DO have other projects in development, and I still have other series to add to, of course. Those projects, however, will not interfere with or replace the Fire series of books. As I said, until I can no longer provide an entertaining story, or until you get tired of the tales themselves, I have no plans to end the series.
ADDED TO THAT, let me say, at least once more, how humbled I am at the reception that FIRE has received over the last three years now. I can’t possibly thank you all enough for the encouragement and compliments on the series. I readily admit that there have been times when I might have quit had it not been for that, and I will never be able to adequately put into words my appreciation for them. When writer’s block or frustration with how something won’t quite work out for me on paper (or screen, as it were
