Connectivity

Lately, I can’t help but be contemplative about connectivity in a world hell-bent on not connecting…

I am old enough to have been a child back when GEnie was getting started back in 1985 as an alternative to CompuServe. Basically dial-up connections to BBS’s, games, and chat rooms way, way back. It was back on GEnie that I first discovered the Science Fiction Roundtable, often thought of as a sort of unofficial SFWA chat room, and ended up chatting with some big name folks like Jerry Pournell...

Where in the World?

I remember the original video game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago? from back when I was a kid in 1985. I didn’t get to play it in school as our school only had Oregon Trail, but apparently Molli played it a ton. A “deluxe” version was released in 1994, and I didn’t play that one either.

The logo for the TV game show entitled Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? featuring a non-descript women with black hair and wearing a red hat and red trenchcoat.

Of course, these games spawned two TV game shows entitled Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, which ran for five seasons in the 90’s and Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?, which ran for two seas...

WorldCon Wrap-Up

Welcome to my WorldCon Wrap-Up where I wax about what worked and didn’t work about the event and dump lots of photos on you. 😉

Last week was WorldCon, the 83rd World Science Fiction Convention, which was held in Seattle! I worked hard to help bring it to my town, so I took the risk to attend–heavily masked, of course. I had several panels, a reading, and other things (full schedule here), but I spent most of my time at the Books & Chains booth (709). My art was also in the Art Show, which was ...

Amaskan’s Honor Book Release Party

With a release date of 9/16, it’s time to plan our Amaskan’s Honor Book Release Party!

Instead of a live streaming event on YouTube, I decided to use Zoom for this trilogy ending release. I like the informality and the back and forth of a Zoom party more so join me!

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 @ 6:30 PM PT / 9:30 PM ET

WHERE: Zoom! I’ll post the link a few days before the event here on my site, but if you’re on Facebook, you can follow the event there and get the link a bit easier. E...

For the Honor of…Amaska?

Sorry, my 80’s child is running rampant today so of course I’m thinking of He-Man and Castle Grayskull… but I’m also thinking about Amaskan’s Honor and the end of the Boahim Trilogy because it’s almost here!

I’ve been a bit busy prepping for WorldCon and everything happening in September, so much so that I forgot to post that not only is Amaskan’s Honor done but it has a release date. Amaskan’s Honor will hit bookshelves on:

September 16, 2025

That’s right! Not only is the book coming o...

The 2025 Seattle Worldcon programming schedule just dropped so I can now share my schedule for the convention.

Educated

NOTE: I’m going to talk about a memoir I just read that deals HEAVILY with religious, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. I’m going to be making a few references to that abuse. If that’s not something you wish to read about, you do not have to read this post. Self-care is the best care.

While I mostly read speculative fiction, memoirs are a genre I greatly enjoy as well. Something about diving into someone else’s mind and history makes for quite an intimate read and experience. I love ...

Proliance Surgeons

I could write an entire second memoir about navigating the US healthcare system while:

Truly. Rather than take on something of that…size, I figure I’ll write about one particular element in this chaotic hellscape, which is: Proliance Surgeons. I’m going to give you a bit of backstory before I get to the colossa...

Art in Progress

I just finished a new art piece for the Seattle Worldcon Art Show coming up in August, which I’ve titled Freedom. The piece is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy as I pulled in one of the cat-like creatures from my Boahim Trilogy because who doesn’t love cross-genre?

I love doing these “art in progress” pieces because it lets you into my process and my brain. Working digitally means that besides hitting the “undo” key, I can zoom in a LOT and work with much finer details than I could with a canvas, ...
