But anyway, we tweeted about this very thing, whether or not you'd write another. She mentioned that you "said that the end will give us the answer" and my reply to that was this—"Having finished it…something tells me there won't be another. Would I mind another? No, but where/how it ends is a good spot. :)"— and I very much still feel the same way. Unlike after I first read If I Stay, with Where She Went the ending left me feeling like everything that needed to be resolved, had been, and that's the most important thing.
As a fan, of course, I wouldn't mind seeing very happy snippets of their future—but thinking of those is also part of being a fan and using our own imaginations after the fact, and so I completely understand why a third installment wouldn't be necessary, and could actually not work at all.
Thanks for writing these wonderful books, and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future!

I get that people want to have more of them, but I think they ultimately hunger for more of a peek into thier future, just to know they are ok and maybe get alittle more of those amazing characters, than a whole new set of conflict. Be careful what you ask for people!
Kudos to you Gayle Forman for letting your characters be.

I have to say that even though I don't remember shedding a tear for IIS even though is a real powerful and emotional book, WSW got tears on my eyes, I felt my heart break for Adam over and over again. I think you left them in a great place, and even though I would love to read more about them I know another book really doesn't make sense.
Now if you ever write a compilation of short stories I would love to see just a bit of Adam and Mia's life after the end of WSW.

Thank you for not succumbing to your fans. Because even if I love If I Stay and Where She Went to the bones--I mean to spines, I would never want to see it butchered. And if EVER there will be a next book in the Mia and Adam ARC , the wait could probably kill me.

I know there will never be a 3rd book - but hey - like at the end of WSW where the audience is pleading Adam's case by repeating the chorus to his song while he makes his way to Mia - I gotta plead a case for a 3rd book for them :)
I agree they are left in a happy spot, but more in a happy spot in the sense that they are together. As individuals - they still have issues - that us as readers who have become so invested in them - would like to see them work through.
Adam - gosh, he loved music. Now, it seems to be a chore to him. He is unhealthily paranoid all the time, and really withdrawn. The rift between him and his band also made me sad. He really didn't seem to have anyone. I would love to see how/if he ever gets his love for music back - if he mends fences with his other band members - and functions normally (or well as normal as a celebrity can get) in society. He also is harboring some very deep grief feelings over the accident that I feel he never got to truly express that I still feel eat at him.
Mia - I feel like she ran away from Oregon, even though I know she really didn't. But, she didn't go back to visit - not even her family's graves - and I feel like her grief over the accident wasn't fully resolved. It would also be interesting to see how she handles being in the spotlight as Adam's gf/how she deals with the paparazzi because I am sure they won't just leave him alone just bc he quit the band/and how she handles the story of her accident being publicized, as I'm sure somehow a reporter would dig it up and leak it.
So, my case is more not that a new conflict be introduced, but, just to see them heal as individuals - because we love them separately as well as together as a couple.
Side note: Bryn's parts kind of made me think ....
The part where she said "you don't get to be the one upset - not right now" - the 'right now' threw me - why would he be upset w/her at any other time now or in the future? And when he said, "I hope you do better with the next guy" and she said "Ya, I wouldn't worry about that" and cackled.. I guess in a way I wanted more closure with them in the making sure she does NOT have a bump/not pregnant after all those bump references where made by reporters :)

I am not a reader?!? I would like another book and who knows if you would consider revisiting at a later date, kids getting married and they don't agree on the choice of spouse? Or as someone pointed out above, could be a hidden preg of Bryn's that at age 16 becomes a teen idol? Who knows, but I am happy with thinking they are living happily ever after right now with the normal relationship challenges! Thanks for that! I will be searching out some of your other books!
