First draft blues

I'm almost done with the third book in the Celestra series, or at least I will be later today or sometime tomorrow. It's so fun to run as fast as you can when you're writing that first draft, but ironically that's when my brain says it would rather be editing. And of course when I'm editing my brain thinks it would be much more fun to produce the almighty first draft.

For writers; What part of the process do you like best? Writing or editing?

If you're a reader; ask me anything about book 3 if you want. I swear I almost know all the answers. ;)

Linda Pohring I enjoy both, but I like the writing part the best. It's fascinating to think that I have a game plan for the storyline, but in truth the character's end up taking over. They're the ones who let me know how it's really going down. Heehee!

Tyra Lynn I agree completely with Linda, writing is the best. I usually sit down with a game plan too and when my characters deviate from it (as they ALWAYS do) I end up arguing with them in my head. They usually win. Whats really fun is when someone is proofing for me as I write and they ask whats going to happen next and I reply "I have no idea any more, I'll tell you when they tell me."

By the way, I just reviewed Tremble this morning, and I can't wait for book three!

Natalie Wright Like Linda, I enjoy both. When I'm in the zone it's like I'm transcribing the action and dialogue coming through me. For me it's incense burning and mood music and mystical. But I also find the initial crativity stage to be scary as well. Staring at the blank page or afraid to start for fear the muse won't come.
I'm deep into big edits right now and while it's not as much fun, it's also less scary. The words are already there - no blank pages to look at. Working with what I've got and then deleting, rearranging and adding to.
But all of it is just plain fun! Hard work, but fun.

Linda Pohring BAM! You hit the nail on the head, Natalie...

Addison Moore Linda - I think I like the writing part best and yes my characters tend to take over.

Tyra- totally same here my characters have a strong opinion. ;) And thanx for the Tremble review!

Natalie, I agree with Linda, you nailed it!!!

Jenn I can't wait for book 3! I know you are still busy with it but do you know when you will be releasing it?
Any other stories taking over your head????
As I type I listen to XM radio and I am not joking when I say unfaithful just came on....I'm so sad and dying for the next installment!

message 7: by Lexi (new)

Lexi So excited! So Questions!

1.) How many books are you thinking for this series in total?

2.) To Echo Jenn: Any prediction of when it will be out?

3.) Anything else I want to ask will be spoilery so I shall refrain.

Addison Moore Jenn, that song is haunting me now as well!!! It kills me for Gage. I'm at the tail end of the book as we speak. I love this crazy twisted ending, it's a runaway train for sure. Poor Skyla.

Lexi, I really wish I knew how many books. I'm thinking five-sixish? But with my luck it might take 24 more to get the plot to the very final ending. If all goes well book 3 should go up sometime in July, mid-late. But don't hold me to it. And let's see...spoilery stuff...there's a surprise twist in this book that left me stunned for days. I know that doesn't really help, but I think it's totally worth the wait. Can I say that about my own book? I mean it in the humblest way possible. ;)

message 9: by Addison (new)

Addison Moore Oh and Jenn! yes, many, many more stories cluttering up my mind! I can't wait to get them all out.

message 10: by Jenn (new)

Jenn A surprise twist that left YOU stunned? It must be a doozy.
All I know is that the Tremble ending is a total killer and I am soooooo ready for the next installment.
Have you checked out the thread on who the readers want Skylar with?
Has Skylar "told" you who she will be with or is it still unknown to you?

message 11: by Addison (new)

Addison Moore Jenn - In this case, I have the gift of knowing. My lips are sealed. ;)

message 12: by LeAnn (new)

LeAnn I am so excited for the third book! I can't wait to see what this amazing twist is and perhaps see what's written in the diary??

message 13: by Tyra (new)

Tyra Lynn Ohhh yes! Will we get to see any of the diary? *crosses fingers*

message 14: by Jenn (new)

Jenn It BETTER be about the diary since that's where she left us hangin ;)
