A hard days night

I finally sent book 3 to my freelance editor last night. I'm hoping it won't have to travel back and forth between the two of us for very long. Edits can be a grueling process and for sure they are a necessary evil.

For writers; Do you dread getting your work back from people who help edit your novel? Are you able to handle critiques well?

For readers; Feel free to ask anything about book 3 or just stop in and say hi!

Jenn Dying for book three ( tapping arm to check for a good vein) ;). Please tell me we will finally find out what's in that dang diary and what happened to the pendant!!!!!

message 3: by Tyra (new)

Tyra Lynn Yes, N.A.M.E. We need to know a name! And the questions I have can't be answered in public, darn it.

As for critiques, I handle them great as soon as I get through saying something like "But that HAS to be there because (insert reason here) don't you GET it?! Did you even READ it? You did? Oh. Never mind."
Then I sulk.
Then I change it.
Usually.
Muahahaha.

I have about three titles that I'm having a terrible time choosing from. I think I'm going to do the big reveal along with the cover next week! I'm excited!

Jenn - As soon as I get book 3 back from my editor I'll make corrections and put it out. As for the diary and the pendant, both make a reprisal in book 3!! =)

Tyra - it sounds like we handle critiques the same way!

And the title and cover reveal is coming up very soon. =)

Jenn Do u do your own covers? Is it rude to ask how much it usually costs for a freelance agent?

message 15: by Linda (new)

Linda Pohring Your third book going to the editing stage...wow! You are for sure a super woman, and I admire what you have done in such a short time. You go girl! I wish you all the success in the world. Oh yeah...editing. When I put my work through the editing process all constructive feedback is welcome, and I take none of it personally. All I desire is to make the story the best it can be. Editing for me is both grueling and rewarding.

Hi Jenn- I bought shared rights to the pictures I use. I have thought about going back and buying exclusive rights, but I think that would be expensive. I photo shop the pictures so that they're unique.

A freelance editor can cost anywhere from $200-$2000. and I've even heard of people paying more than that. My editor charges me on the lower end but she's worked out a deal with me. She's not looking for anymore work right now, but here's the website of a woman I hear is pretty good. http://writingcareercoach.com/

Linda - I agree that editing can be both grueling and rewarding! It's when I get down to that the final phase of last round edits that I try to polish so hard I can see my reflection. I'm not sure I achieve it, but I do try. ;)

Jenn Good lord, I had no idea on how much money it would cost!!! It's amazing how you still keep your book prices so low. I guess if I'm gonna do this, I'm going to have to shell out a lot of money first. It's terrifying to think that people may not enjoy my work though... On that note, just let me say that I admire the work you do and putting yourself out there. I really enjoy your series and I thank you for the low prices ;)

message 19: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Sorry if I made you sound like walmart with the low prices bit... Lol

Taddy Oh, I am so thrilled to hear that I will not have to wait THAT much longer for news about book 3! I devoured both Ethereal and Tremble in a very short amount of time and wanted more more more..... I really loved how you wrote teenagers that were realistic, well as realistic as paranormal teenagers can be;)
Seriously, you captured how I remembered my teenaged years to be, in a sea of YA books that somehow try, and miss, it was really refreshing.

I eagerly await all things concerning Book 3! Yay!

Taddy - I am SO humbled by your wonderful comments, I cannot even tell you! Thank you!!

Each of my characters as so very real to me, I really do feel like I know them inside out. As far as writing like a teen, I just write it like I remember it. I realize that not everyone may have had the same teen experience, but I tend to write within my comfort zone.

Thank you for reading my books. I hope you'll like book 3 as well. =)

Well hey we must have had mush the same teenage years then, ha ha!
I know you just finished this series, but do you plan on another soon?
You've got a friend & fan for life in me I tell ya!

Taddy - actually book 3 is not the end, it is not even remotely near the end. I hope to have over six books, but watch, I say that and the characters will try to wrap things up quickly. ;) (I won't let them).

And yes, I'm writing another series right now. Hopefully that one will be up late in the summer and I'll announce details soon here my blog. I am super excited about this one!

Thanx for reading my books. I'm soooo glad you're enjoying them!

message 26: by Taddy (new)

Taddy Oohh. I think I did read that there would be around 6 books in the celestra series which would make me 6 times as happy. So yes, don't you let those characters resolve, Addison, tell them they WANT more out of their lives, they aren't ready for the end...haha.
I also can't wait to hear about this other series. Can you give us a hint? It will be brilliant I'm proof positive of that!

Whatever you need me to do to promote your books, let me know ok? I joined a lot of YA groups on here and plan to start posting to them, well really singing your praises ;)

With such an over run genre you managed to find yourself a very unique niche and what a smart little writer you are.

On a funny note, my 7yr old daughter saw your picture here and said, she is pretty mommy she looks like you , is that your cousin, so and so. Funny hey? I'll try and get my photo up on my profile soon, I think we are close in age.
