Chronicle Essay: "How Your Journal Editor Works"

My Chronicle of Higher Education essay, "How Your Journal Editor Works," has been republished today in Vitae, the Chronicle's career portal. In the essay, I offer advice for those planning to submit a piece to a scholarly journal, encouraging you to envision how (many) editors will read and assess your work. I can't speak for all editors, of course, but I hope this helps authors and starts more conversations on the subject.
