Re-launching 'Ratchet'--want your advice!

Hi Guys,

I'm going to re-launch 'Ratchet, the Reluctant Witch' with better availability in the USA. So I'm taking this opportunity to spruce things up.

What do you good people think about changing the book title to maybe, just 'The Reluctant Witch'?

Given 'Ratchet' can also be a negative, slang term for a girl without a lot of money, but with social ambitions, I'm thinking I might be better off taking 'Ratchet' off the cover?

Also, thinking of having a new, edgier cover done. This one may be a bit young.

I'd love feedback on any of this.

Many thanks,
Sara

Irene What if you renamed her? Something just as interesting and zany as Ratchet but without the negative connotation? I fear The Reluctant Witch may be too simple.

Sara Pascoe Hi Sonia! Thanks for your input and I think you are exactly right. I have been trying to come up with a name-nickname combo that does the trick. Like you said, a zany, slightly edgy nickname that can be paired with a nice real name. Haven't figured it out yet... It's 'in the cooker' like my grandmother used to say. Sorry for slow response. I've been on holiday in the US and had missed the fact that you replied. (Will look at my notification settings :) Best wishes, Sara
