A Family Story
A family story: My grandfather Jack Haley was a colonel in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in World War II. Like many others, he fought to protect American liberties from the threat of fascism. That fight is not over. In his honor, I have joined the ACLU as a monthly contributor to help fight the curtailment of liberties that he fought to safeguard. If you are looking for a productive way to respond to the US election, I challenge you to get involved in whatever way works for you.

I think even if you are happy with how the election turned out, we all need to work on combating discrimination and just being nice to everyone :) I believe that no matter how an election turns out, you should support the president, but you don't have to support all the things they believe. Anyway, this is definitely a much more positive way to respond to the election than the riots that have been going on. Riots are just going to cause chaos. Getting involved with programs to make the world a better place makes peace!

I can't agree enough! Thank you for sharing. On 11/9, I started a similar monthly donation to NARAL and Planned Parenthood. I hope your post inspires others to take similar proactive steps to express his or her individual beliefs and to share these steps with others.
I am a Catholic and I am against abortion. But Rick is truly right.
My grandfather was a turret gunner for the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Growing up he didnt talk much about what he had experienced, I wish now I had listened when he did talk, but he did help to instill in me the importance of helping others. No matter their skin color. My parents continued to raise me to know that how a person treats other people tells you more about that person's character than anything else. As an 11 year educator, and currently a high school librarian, I continue to share this wisdom with all students I come across. Thank you for all you are doing to stem the tide of hate that is flooding our country.
My father fought in the War and my father in law was a glider pilot. They both told stories and were good tales, but they left the worst of them lay in silence. As elections go, this one was a mess.

That is amazing. My friend moved to the other side of the World last year, and she was the one who got me to read your books. I can tell you, we both await eagerly your next release. As soon as I start one of your books, I can't put it down unless someone forces me to. I need stuff like this after the dissatisfaction of the election.
