Recipe: Ultimate Nut Scones

Ultimate Nut Scones (I’ve already eaten two
)
Since I’ve begun baking for local charity bake sales, I’m resurrecting recipes I haven’t used in years. This is one of the all-time best scone recipes you’ll ever eat.
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tspns. cream of tartar
3/4 tspn. baking soda
6 Ts butter
1/2 cup nuts
2 eggs
1 T milk
GLAZE: (I skip the glaze — unnecessary!)
More milk
Granulated sugar
NOTE: Don’t use walnuts. Chopped macadamia nuts are AWESOME!
Heat oven to 425°F. Combine flour, sugar, cream of tartar and baking soda. Cut in butter. Stir in nuts. Separately, combine eggs and 1 T milk. Add to dry ingredients, stir until just moistened. Form dough into a ball.
On a lightly floured surface, roll or pat dough into a circle, 3/4 inch thick and about 7 inches dia. Cut into 6-8 wedges. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush with additional milk if desired, and sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake in 425°F oven for 12 to 15 mins. or until golden.
6-12 scones.
