During this time of year, I love to revisit some of my favorite old movie clips and music that remind me of the mainstays of the holiday season. I thought I’d share a few of my favorites here. In no organized order, here they are:
Jimmy Stewart and Carey Grant in
A Philadelphia Story. This scene has always stayed with me and arguably has also influenced my writing of heroes. I love the line, “she’s like a queen. A radiant, glorious queen… you can’t treat her like other women.”
David Bowie and Bing Crosby: Little Drummer Boy. This is kind of a bizarrely crafted video, because you can feel awkward animosity coming off them both in waves (well, more on Bing’s part); however, their voices are simply glorious. With the passing of Legend David Bowie this year (
Labyrinth forever!), it’s especially poignant. He had such a beautiful voice. This always gets me in a holiday mood.
