News From Temerant

It’s been a while since I posted up a blog full of interesting things that have been happening around the world that relate to my books. So let’s do that today, shall we?

Here’s something that kinda stunned me when someone passed it my way: The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra performing a piece called “Arliden & Laurian” by Nicolas de Ferran, inspired by The Kingkiller Chronicle.

Yeah. That’s a thing that really happened.

The Guardian included Tak in its monthly write up about board games, and...

To paraphrase the great Neil Gaiman, "Pat Rothfuss is not your bitch."

message 5: by Duncan (new)

Duncan People are allowed to ask if he's writing his book. We aren't Pat's bitch(es) either.

D why must this always happen? HA

message 7: by Josh (new)

Josh i dont care when book 3 comes out...so long as 1) he doesnt die before it is published, and (2 i dont die before its published.

message 8: by Harle (new)

Harle People are sometimes behave as if they could not read other books while waiting. If you are sick of waiting, stop and dont buy his books anymore. If you are not that frustrated, keep cool and read different stuff.

But I @Josh, you are totally right :)

message 9: by Christine (new)

Christine Hunt I wish people would stop getting so huffy about it taking a long time for Rothfuss to finish this book! I am also impatient I want it NOW! BUT! If I had this book sitting on my coffee table right this second, it would NOT be as good as the other three books of this series. The thing about The Kingkiller Chronicles is that they are true art, which takes time. I've had this argument with some friends over and over where they say "it's just like A Song of Ice and Fire hurry up already" NO IT'S NOT THE SAME. It's annoying that book 6 of that series isn't out yet mostly because when it does come out it will most likely be a huge let down and once again GRRM describing the tone of the grey stone walls for another 400 pages. But I digress. When Doors of Stone comes out, it will be WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I have full confidence that it will be AT LEAST as good if not BETTER than the other two. Considering how good THOSE books are, I would wait decades, centuries, Millennia if need be because they are that good! They speak to your heart and soul and that is NOT something that you can put into works in a year like Sanderson, or are just lazy like Martin. Rothfuss is a TRUE artist, give him a break. Wait patiently, I know you're aching to hear more and so am I but it will be worth the wait!!!!

message 20: by Nathan (new)

Nathan It is over 20 years since we were promised the captals from Melanie rawn. We, his fans, like patrick's work but are reading sandersons work while we wait. Eventually, we will not care if he publishes or not. Two years is usually the time that an author has before they start losing fans due to wait. Two books before quality becomes a problem, unless it is real bad. We want a quality book but we don't want to wait 3 more years, let alone 17.

Hah! Maybe they have an agreement and Sanderson is paying Patrick to take it slow so he can sell more books in the meantime. :D But joke aside i also killed some time with other good books in the wait and i also notice that i follow up on the progress less and less.

There is a betting pool on how many books Sanderson will publish while we wait. Don't get me wrong, I want to read the book when it comes out... Until I forget about the series due to it not being in front of me. I read 2 to 3 books a week... Some are re reads, but that puts me at 265 books at least since srfst and 664 since wmf.

I will stop checking at all probably around the summer, it is how I work. I will not notice if doors of stone is released and then he will miss out on selling me the book, the audio book, the ten or so friends over Christmas season.

What set me on this rant was a friend who when I mentioned rothfuss, I got - oh, he is still alive?

Chris Slooter Cres wrote: "The only thing more annoying than people complaining about how he hasn't finished the third book, is the self righteous telling others how they should or should not feel or how they should or shoul..." I agree. If Pat did not want to get blasted for not finishing book 3, he would not post anything online allowing people to comment.

He did pretty good on the wheel of time... so I'd agree.
