About my latest book : In Pursuit of Change

I wrote a book about my postpartum period called In Pursuit of Change because I have five closest friends that have two or three children each and yet neither of them told me how hard the postpartum period of your life can be. I believe they might have had a more beautiful and blissful time after giving birth to their first, or second, or even third child, but they certainly had some hard moments too, still no one shared those moments with the rest of us friends, so when my turn came to have a baby I got caught in a pile of problems that I didn’t see coming, and didn’t know how to handle. Yes, I was kind of problematic even before I had a baby with my autoimmune illnesses and sleeping problems, but I was told everything would be better after I had a baby. Well, let me tell you, that’s a lie. The truth was everything got much, much worse after I gave birth, and it would have been easier if someone prepared me for that option as well. I wish I had some kind of a guide who could have guided me through the first six months of my postpartum, because it was shocking and frightful, and no one understood how horrifying the whole situation was for me. That’s why I wrote the book. Not to scare people away from having a baby, but to prepare them and tell them everything they’re feeling is actually ok. There are millions of moms around the world who feel the same way, so you shouldn’t hesitate to find and ask for help. I think there should be a specialist who takes care of moms after they give birth. You know like a health visitor, the lady that comes to your house after the birth of your baby to show you how to change diapers and take care of your baby’s umbilical cord. There should be a lady that comes once a week and talks to you about your psychological state as well, and guides you through these troubling times. Well anyway, I pulled through that period, I have a beautiful baby girl, and am very thankful for having her and my husband by my side, and I wrote a book about it. It’s not difficult or depressing to read, it’s just honest and even entertaining sometimes, and I hope that maybe it’ll help some women not to expect so much of themselves, and instead take one step at a time.
