On myths and dreams and all things that go bump in the night

You may recall that back in July, Michael Kinsella published a text book titled: Legend-Tripping Online: Supernatural Folklore and the Search for Ong's Hat (great review here) and I in turn promised to write a companion paper to clarify a few of the conclusions in his tome that I felt needed expansion or slight course correction.

As these things often transpire; the paper became a pamphlet, became a booklet, became a book. I have the outline and am refreshing myself on some of the facts as well as conducting  further research into the state of "interactive fiction" and modern "myth building" today.

This is in no way meant to supplant Michael's fine work, but rather to edify. I feel like a thorough historical analysis of what came before and what came after is in order. Since I have retired from creating such works myself (my work in the future will be traditional e/books and video exclusively) it is a good time to look back and reflect on the lessons learned.

Expect this books (still untitled) to see the light of day sometime in early 2012.
