Giving Tuesday

For years I’ve used the World Vision Christmas catalog and allow our grandchildren to choose a Christmas gift for a child in need. When our granddaughter Maddy was around eight she carefully scanned the catalog, and decided she wanted to buy a camel, which at the time was $700. There was also the option of buying half a camel for $350. I explained to young Maddy that $700 was a bit more than I had intended to spend but if she was willing to give me her allowance we could buy the whole camel. Maddy carefully chewed over the decision and then with a heart filled with generosity, announced, “Half a camel, will do.”.

It’s Giving Tuesday and there are children around the world in desperate need. My prayer is that you’ll find it in your heart to look through that catalog yourself and whether you decide on a camel, a goat or a soccer ball, know that you will be making a tremendous difference in a youngster’s life. Thank you!

Cecelia Thanks for sharing this link, Debbie. I gave some chickens, which is a cool idea for a hungry family!

Actually my church does something during the holidays. I can't recall the organization but, you fill up bags of goodies (pencils, pens, hard candies, toys, toiletries and medicines) to be sent to a foreign country.

Oh, I just looked. It's Christmas Bags of Hope for Hope Life in Guatemala. I didn't do it this year with my church. Deadline was yesterday (for my congregation). So busy that time just got away from me.

I did World Vision this - well, at least I did something!!! I'd love to be present when the family receives their chickens! :-)

Merry Christmas!!!

TERRIE Thank you for the reminder. One year I sent chicks for Christmas. The next letter I received from my sponsored child spoke of how much he enjoyed feeding the chicks his family had received. I had sent the donation through a different organization and there is almost no chance these were the same chicks I had paid for. But the Godincidence touched my heart in a very special way. God is so very good! I will never forget that wonderful gift I was given that year.
Many blessings!
