Book Groups!!
Thank you thank you thank you to the book groups who have embraced THE SUMMER LIST & SUMMER HOURS. I know how fierce book-pick debates can get -- I'm in two book groups -- so it's an honor when you select one of my novels.
And it's a thrill to meet some of you in person and via video chat. You always keep me on my toes with your thoughtful questions.
I got to spend last night with a book group across the river in Portland & we had a lovely evening talking about plot decisions, who guessed the twists, how early I wake up, who chooses my covers, the books they've picked and hated (not mine - phew), and what they should read next. It was 89 degrees -- rare for Portland this time of year. A beautiful patio, cold wine, seafood pasta and shady Oregon trees -- bliss.
Every time I meet with a book group, I have a little book trivia quiz and the winner gets Moonstruck Chocolate. How fitting that the host (far right) won! If you look closely you can see that I put a sticker of the SUMMER HOURS cover on her prize :) .
